Military Surplus and Civilian Outdoors kit
- Field and trek have been going since 1973; in that time, they've collected a pretty good reputation for stocking some of the most useful civilian camping equipment available; they've also gone nationwide, with a chain of retail outlets all over the place. Their web-based services are equally as enviable, and they keep it up-to-date. While they do have a military section there, it's limited, and not their main line by any stretch of the imagination. However, they do stock useful kit, and for this reason, here they are!
- "On Patrol - Suppliers of Tactical and Mil Sim Equipment"
A new retailer on the net, and I don't know that much about them; Their range is somewhat limited at the moment, but they are aware of this, and working on it.
Sorry it took a month to get the banner up, lads - I've been plenty busy at work! - Based in Manchester, these guys sell some darned useful kit - including their exclusive South African Assault Vest in British DPM, which is made for them by (as far as I can tell) the same guys who make the South African military their own sand-coloured version; for more info on their Assault Vest, please see the review on their SA Vest here!
- Specialising in BlackHawk gear, they are one of the few authorised UK retailers of this excellent field gear. Curently, you'll only find their contact details on the site, but it's worth talking to them, as they can do some great deals sometimes - they also stock the new BLOK helmets (as reviewd on www.arniesairsoft.co.uk), so give them a bell, or drop them a line!
- There's a new, dedicated, supplier of Flecktarn kit in the UK, so getting this gear is now a hell of a lot easier. Flecktarn.co.uk are well worth a look. Not only do they supply the clothing, but they also supply the webbing as well! Note that while they do not list their prices, they do offer a quotation service, so you can find out just how much that bit of kit you want is going to cost you! (Added 22nd May 2002)
- Highly recommended!
Update: 19th March 2002 - A review of this company is now on-line!
I was amazed to find this place on the net - based in Brentwood (Essex), their prices are almost farcical in their cheapness. They appear to hold stock on many items, and their current offer of Soldier 95 jacket, trousers, and shirt, for only 25 quid, is fantastic, if you're looking for it (time of writing: 27th Feb 2002)! - Respected for the quality of their kit, they produce clothing, webbing, and most accessories that you could possibly need. Their main distributors are noted on their web site, but one of them in the UK is Stringtown Supplies (see below).
- Surplus And Adventure (was called "All Things Military")
- Until recently, they stocked mainly US kit, but they've expanded their lines considerably over the last year; while I have not personally had dealings with them, one of their customers (and a visitor to Practical Airsoft as well ) gave me some rather good feedback, stating that, even though he'd ordered from them on a Saturday, the order (including stuff he hadn't expected them to hold in stock) had arrived, complete, the following Tuesday! Now how's that for service?!
- Drop Zone Supplies
- This new (since 1997, I believe) Redhill (in Surrey) based mail order only firm offers a limited range, as they specialise in British military kit only.
For all that, their prices are razor keen, and they also offer trousers in my size (OK, I'm a little on the large side, these days!) which in my eyes makes them a winner!
The firm is run by a ex-soldier, who appears to know what a soldier needs, so the kit is targetted at the serving soldier in the main. Never the less, I'm impressed by the guy's thinking and thought. The site is well designed, and there's a printable version of the catalogue available to download.
In adition, they are now an accredited retailer - the only in the UK, I believe - of Eagle Industries webbing and equipment; these items are cheeaper than Blackhawk, and, while not as well known, are at least comparable in quality, I am led to believe.
Having, in early November 2002, spoken to Nick, the owner of the business, it seems as if he's able to get other, unusual and/or rare kit as well, so it's well worth getting in touch with him!
Ten out of ten! - Silvermans are one of Britain's leading, and probably longest established reseller of quality government and military mostly military) surplus.
Tends to be a little higher in price than other retailers, but most times, if you can't get it anywhere else, these guys'll have it. - Camo UK
- A division of a rather well-known government surplus specialist, their lines are constantly updated, including a large number stock lines, at remarkably keen prices.
- Special Air Sea Services
- Bespoke tailors, dealing in specialist combat clothing. Not for nothing are they affectionately called the 'combat tailors'! They also stock a limited range of well-chosen accessoies, and their own range of '58 and PLCE compatible webbing, including a variation of the butt-pack theme from US ALICE webbing, called the "SASS Rhodesian Belt Pouch", which I'm very much tempted to buy myself; it'll reduce the number of pouches on my belt kit! Note that these guys are mainly mail order only, although their factory in does accept visitors by advance notice only. Office hours are 11:00 to 19:00 UK local time. They're closed at weekends, by the way, being a factory, which is only to be expected. Quality of their gear, by the way, is top-notch. If you want it made to measure, these are definately the guys to contact.
- Attleborough Accessories
- Good supplier of shooting accessories, included here due to their line of Advantage camouflage clothing. Mainly a little expensive, but damn, they're the ONLY place I've found selling the Gerber Multi-tool pliars at less than twenty quid in the UK - where the hell were they, when I bought mine, seven years back?!
- Established military surplus supplier; their printed catalogue contains much more that the on-line catalogue. They have a truly exceptional range of gear, mostly tailored to the Army surplus market, but which is equally at home with an Airsofter - and they are the only place that I could find in late December 2000, that had good (come to that, ANY) stocks of GP ration packs! Their prices are pretty good, and what's more to the point, they also stock a small, but reasonably well-chosen, range of Airsoft models. I visitted them on Monday the 19th of December 2000, to collect a couple of packs of GP rations, and wound up getting a new pouch for my webbing as well! Can't say fairer than that, now, can you?!
- Springfields Surplus
- Established family-run army surplus business, that offers a reasonable range of kit, at reasonble prices The only place in the North of England to have stocks of GP ration packs, by the way, as at 19th of December 2000. (you might notice a coherent theme here. Yup: I judge stockists on their ability to get - and stock - difficult to obtain ex-MoD surplus...!)
- USMC (Uncle Sam's Military Catalogue)
- USMC, or "Uncle Sam's Military Catalogue", is based in Southsea, Hampshire. This firm specialises in most forms of surplus personal military kit; their prices are not always of the keenest edge, but they normally have the gear in stock. They also have a reasonable range of bits other suppliers don't, so it's worth looking over their catalogue, which you can request either by e-mail, or phone, on (087) - 0752 - 5500 (business hours 09:00 to 12:45, and 13:30 to 17:30 GMT, Tuesday through Saturday).
Their website is still down as at the 5th of January, 2003, presumably for maintenance (they may even be re-doing it in English, as well as French, this time!). You can still get their printed catalogue, by calling the number above, though. It's listed as costing £3.50. - Located in Bast, Somerset, these lads, while not having a massive selection, do the essentials quite nicely. Worth a visit if you're local to Bath!
They also have an excellent review on Arnie's Airsoft, which is well worth reading. Having read the review, and re-visited their website, I fully recommend these guys for their prices, if nothing else - they've got a LOT of the cometition beaten hands down. If you're into British kit, give these guys a look first! - Soldier Of Furtune e-shop and Mail order.
- Having just done a search on a couple of items that no-one seemed to stock, I think I can safely recommend these guys as well! Their British Military catalogue stocks several hard to find items (British GP ration packs, Alcohol Gel stoves, and a hell of lot more besides. Well worth a visit, if you cannot find what you're looking for anywhere else!
- If you're still looking, check out Google com. This link is specific to Army Surplus stores in the UK (as listed by Google.com), although further pages from this link may take you to other places around the globe.
Linking to Practical Airsoft...
If you want to link to this site, you can do it in one of two ways:
You can add the following HTML code to your site, shown below. A quick note, before you do - PLEASE, leave the target in the code - other sites I've been linked to in the past, that used frames, sometimes omitted the '_blank' element, and the result was my site appearing in their frames. Damned disconcerting, at best, rude at worst - please ensure the code is copied EXACTLY! Thanks!
Or, you can use one of our banners (the preferred method, and shown below), with the following HTML:
This results in a link looking like the banner above (remember to download the banner image to your site!)...
