How to execute a convincing "April Fool's Joke"
Spot the difference?
The 'Fake' This is the 'fake' image. The two images below are from the REAL Excello Birdseed website. These images were carefully overlayed to create the label. |
The 'Original' This is the real image of a bag of Excel bb's, borrowed from Hatchet's Airsoft Page. As you can see it's a bag of 2200 0.25g bb's. |

How to do it:
Remove
that original pesky label..
|
Add
the convincing logos
|
Make
an area for the text
|
Add
the text in convincing font styles
|
The rest is the bit that requires "skill".. Well perhaps not skill, rather extended knowledge from many years of use of PhotoShop.. I fiddled, around with the layers, set the text background to 'overlay' then set the transparency on all the overlayed images to about 57%. After much fiddling (about 15 minutes), you'll end up with this:
Photoshop original. If anyone owns Adobe Photoshop 5 or above (and if they are interested), they can email me, and I'll send them a copy of the original document that I generated.
Oh yeah.. and about that website.. You know that website http://www.excello.cjb.net ? Well that was all mine. The original design was 'borrowed' from http://www.excellobirdseed.com . I just added the information about the 'new product', and heavily plugged the information about the new line in airsoft products.
My Apologies... I'm very sorry if anyone took this information the wrong way, but it was all intended to be taken as a joke, nothing more. If you couldn't see the funny side, (and one person emailed me, and said as much), - you obviously had a sense of humour bypass at birth, and I mean that in a kind way.
To the people who sent me their VISA numbers, um.. what can I say? - I'm honestly dumbfounded. I hereby promise NOT to order tonights pizza delivery on your behalf. =)
