Wierd food - Just don't even think of trying this stuff at home!
Yup? Me, yes? Mad?.. probably. Anyway back on track, seeing these two cans of drink in our local supermarket, I thought "ooh real Japanese drinks! Sounds cool, I'll give them a try". I mean I'm a fan of most of this stuff, and can be frequently be found calming my Sake troubled stomach with a pot or three of green-tea, I mean it's nice stuff and possibly the best natural antacid I've ever had. So what could be wrong with it?
Well drinking 'Pokka' green tea was certainly an experience not to be missed, what was it like? Well I certainly didn't have the lipton urge to shoot random birds in my living room with an M60, I mean for starters I wasn't in my living room!
It's unfair to say that the drink was horrible.. but I think calling it a 'choice taste' would not be an unfair comment to make. The first brown can tasted like water that had been filtered through a Weetabix, the second can, although different, unbelieveably tasted worse - something akin to rainwater run off.
Now the thought occured to me. Is this stuff meant to be drunk ice-cold? In fact is it meant to be drunk on its own (without trained paramedics, and a stomach pump nearby)? If so has anyone else submitted themselves to 'the taste', or is it purely exported to dimwit foreigners that buy random things on impluse and just drink them to see what they are like? ^_^ As far as I can tell there's not much in the can apart from trace amounts of sodium (see inset image)
So how bad did it taste? Well I managed to find muscles in my neck that had never that much work pulling a face before, infact I'm sitting here with DeepHeat on my shoulder at the moment waiting for the muscles to relax again.
As a side note, if anyone wants to send me random food parcels to try out and review here for the site, I think we could open up a whole new dimension to random reviews. Next week, MREs?
I'd like to thank my mate Jeremy (aka LoneWolf) of the Southern Californian WolfPack USA, who had popped over to visit the UK at the time of the Arnie-taste-test and was kind enough to take the shots for this review. Believe it or not, taking shots like this when laughing is apparently quite tough! ^_^
Okay.. now this is a very weird news post, but hey - it's my blog so I'll just add it under the right news category. ^_^ Welcome to Arnie's Cake of the Day (C.o.D.).
Anyone have a clue what this cake is? I've just been given and eaten one, but I have no idea what was in it, what that strange thing is that I 'mustn't eat', or what the filling was. All I know is that it was dead yummy (don't let the fact that it looks a lot like a McDonald's hamburger fool you)and Japanese. Anyone got more of a clue than me?
