RWA Full Steel Nighthawk Custom 1911

I'm usually one to jump on the bandwagon of "oh please not another ridiculously overpriced aluminium race gun Mr Lai" quite quickly, but this made my face hole water, it looks incredible, and the performance seems great, definitely worthy for a new home for Volante's steel BBU. However, They haven't revealed the price yet, but my guess is, more than double (probably triple?) of what RA-Tech asks for their Kimber full steel replica (which are around 1k)...

Maybe it's OEM'ed by someone already in the industry, but it's made to RW/CL's specs, that's for sure. They presented a working model at IWA 2014, that's almost a year ago, so they've spend quite some time on finetuning.

I wish it had higher velocity, but i guess m100 is fine for market compatibility.

And i wonder if they finetuned the CO2 valves for higher output pressure (or volume -> effective pressure).

It's KJW / TM spec using KJW meu style co2 mag... I really doubt it's KWC.

Missed the part about it being TM spec, just to be sure i took another look at the mag and i noticed the CO2 pellet is straight, not slanted, pointing at KJW's version 2 CO2 mags (no ugly bumper). My bad, carry on!

Presumably the same as everybody else has done with steel GLOCKs for the last decade?

I really wish RedWolf would throw caution to the winds and order 500, or 1,000 of these pistols from the OEM. Once they leverage real economies of scale the price of steel guns should collapse down to levels where you could think about skirmishing one without wincing every time you scrape along a wall or something. If these were $350ish - like a steel Stark Arms GLOCK is - I'd be all over them. I bet if RedWolf had contracted for 500-1,000 of these, rather than 10-50 like they probably have, the price would be a quarter of what it is now.

If the price is really $1280, I would get one to game with extensively, I own the RA-Tech Kimber Royal 2 which just sits in the box / hangs on a wall because it's not exactly a "combat model", where as this gun would look fine (or better) when it's got scratches / dents from normal use. And I've given up on the idea that well maintained stupidly expensive guns somehow retain their values a while ago.

Very nice indeed. I would be interested in a non railed version if they become available. Just don't like the aesthetics of that particular rail but the standard GRP is a slick looking 1911. It seems to shoot well from the above video, really snappy action even with the steel slide.

If I was designing this model I would of used an aircraft grade aluminium for just the slide and use a stainless bbu for added weight at the rear of the slide and a stainless chamber and outer barrel to balance the weight of the gun. With a light slide and some weight from a steel bbu would IMO give an insane blow back action. Just an idea

To be honest your suggestions are sort of like taking away all the reasons that make this gun special for me. There are many non-railed full steel 1911, the Inokatsu 1911 and series 70, RA-Tech Kimber Royal II and Stainless II, mystery brand extremely expensive Kimber Raptor II, all of those are non-railed 1911s.

This is the first 1911 that's close to what I've wanted for years, a "combat" full steel 1911 that could accept lights, and Airsoft surgeon already have a GRP with a steel frame and aluminium slide. A steel BBU doesn't really enhance the recoil of an aluminium slide much, I know because I've put on the steel BBU from Volante and tried it, it does enhance it, but just not anywhere near that of a steel slide.

I presume he's comparing the Volante BBU on an aluminium frame against a steel-slide with CO2 ???

Nah, Icolater was saying he thinks a aluminium slide + Volante BBU is going to have "insane blowback action", I'm saying no it doesn't, it's not anywhere near that of a steel slide with or without a steel BBU. (while both on CO2). I should think a steel slide, a steel BBU and an aluminium frame would achieve the heaviest felt recoil of all configurations, but personally I'd prefer the frame to be steel as well, aka as RWA's current config.
