PPS M870 Police Magnum

No much info as of yet, but it seems to be about to launch. According to someone somehow connected to PPS, it's a Tanaka clone with some "critical" parts changed from zink alloy to Steel.

Im just gonna drop a few links:

KHMountain also offers shells that can use up to Top gas. They only hold 3 BBs each, though.

The brands website shows some CO2 shells in the making.

The guy from CRW thinks this will be compatible with RS parts.

The range seems ridiculous, though.  Or is it just me? I expected it to shoot a Little further and with less spread, given that it has an inner barrel, as compared to the APS.

Apart from breaking rigt out of the box (apparently the pins come out and your barrel and shell tube fall off!), how skirmishable are the Tanaka 870's?

Pretty much everything breaks on the Tanaka, the pins fall off as you mentioned, so you really have to thread and screw it on with some grub screws, then the charging forend arms break because it's made out of cheese metal, then the flats on the slide block breaks because it's made out of butter metal. So... err, it's super awesome once it's all fixed, but as for how "skirmishable", quite, actually, with only 1 BB in I can hit very small targets from 10m to a point where using heavier single BB shell, you could do awesome Magpul shell change for different ranges... provided you have enough shells and a way not to loose them all.

That it only costs $230?

true. But TM is 'only' 300 and far more practical and then you get onto the cost of shells.

Aps is a premium product and cost reflects that - as far as I can tell it is 'the' shell ejector. 12 rounds is also so, so cool. Its a shotgun after all!

Tldr - on a budget? Get TM. Want shell ejector? Get APS. Choice is good but as I said this is several years late. Best of luck to them. Personally I hope the aps shell becomes the new standard and we see more models based around them.

You can't really put it on the same page with TM because of the shells. At best you can compare the Marushin M500 against the TM offering. For this it's only APS or older Maruzens. The problem with APS is that despite how solid their design is, it's priced pretty high and made only worse by the cost of shells. Unless they're able to lower shell cost or a clone comes out that platform isn't really going anywhere. The stock Tanaka/PPS shells only hold 3, but you can use Madbull shells that hold 6 and the option to use CO2 whereas APS is CO2 only. Then there are these shells. Cheap, takes green gas or CO2 and hold up to 12 bbs or whatever you can cram in the paintball version provided you remove the inner barrel assembly first. Also, there's that, an inner barrel which should provide better range and tighter groups.

PPS already have 6 BBs CO2 shells. See videos or homepage.

The APS, from what I read in it's review thread has quite a few problems. If the PPS works flawlessly, Ill get one for garden plinking: shell ejecting and RS accessories.

The TM I'd get for playing.

They're Goblin shells. Made in China but distributed only in the US from lack of any real use for them since nobody really uses Tanakas. Tanaka compatible but otherwise used on their shotgun pistols (Elfin Knight Ganatan clone). I imagine once the PPS is out we'd start seeing this being more wide spread or PPS start making copies of it themselves.

Dude. That's a Tanaka clone apparently. As long as it hits the release valve with proper force, it's gonna perform. The only question is whether it has an inner barrel or not, and how easy it is to remove any inner barrel that is there.

There's enough clone Tanaka shells out for everyone. Madbull, Goblin, APS, now PPS too.
