renegadecow
UNCompany posted pre-orders for the G&G GMG-42 today. I told you that quick change barrel gimmick was gonna be expensive. https://www.uncompany.com/pageproductdetails.asp?prodid=36921
Hopna
I wonder if this is going to sell well, as I was looking forward to the MG42, but I expected it to be $1000 cheaper. Quite a shame, as it looked very promising to me.
DeltaZero
Jesus! That is just outrageous!!
howitzer
Hell of a price tag, was expecting about two hundred above the A&K offering.
Gigueand
That's absurd. The MG42 is already in a niche market. How many of these do they think they'll be able to sell?
tquilha
At that price? Zero...
TheFull9
I could tell it was going to be pricey looking at the metal work in the promo videos, but that's bonkers. Pointless quick-change barrel would appeal to the collectors sure, but in a gun that doesn't heat up its' barrel when firing they sure wasted a lot of time replicating that feature. Better be all steel wherever the real thing was steel, and quality stuff at that.I reckon the head honcho at G&G just had a rock on for a high-end electric MG42 to skirmish. Wingmann
No way José.
Rob15
At that price? Zero... If retailers have them up for pre-order then they've already effectivly sold some Given the price range G&G usually works within the price is suprising, they're known for quite low priced/good value AEGs and not ones in the very high price bracket, I just hope the quality is good to justify the price but I'm sure they're not expecting to sell that many and will have priced it to cover the setup costs with a small number of sales, I'm not sure it'd have been a big seller even at half that price though. Pimpbot
Hmm; maybe if this was gas it would be a neat collector's curiosity...but nearly $2000 for an AEG...big miscalculation on G&G's part.
Mike_West
Yep, particularly considering that A&K beat them to the punch.

harborne blue
They've totally missed the boat with this. I play a lot of WW2 airsoft and so many people have got the ACM version, we've had to limit the numbers on the field at any one time. No one is going to buy the G&G version... Make something we want for crying out loud like a Lee Enfield.
kojak
What good is this without spare barrels?
Pimpbot
Yes on the Lee-Enfield!
renegadecow
No on the G&G. I've had to fix up one of their 98Ks recently and their design principles are just horrible when it comes to gas guns.
Bando
I want to get one DG it then paint it tan and add a scope and make an MG3. but for that price ....yeahno
Pimpbot
Thanks Renegadecow, I hadn't heard that about them. I guess I'll be avoiding their 1903 (though it would be more difficult to resist if they made the 1903 instead of the 1903A3).
3vi1-D4n
Avoid the g&g m1903. Just horrible to work on and performance is much much worse than the kjw m700, with no way to get a consistent shot at all. Poor valve design and small gas reservoir leads to cool down quickly. But yeah the mg42 is way too expensive.
Gunnman
If it was a gbb it would at least appeal to elitists and collectors. This is what you get if you don't test the market.
tquilha
I handled the ACM MG42 once at a game and it's beautiful. G&G's version may be better, but I seriously doubt it will be 1500€ better...
Gunmane
If I wanted something with quick barrel change just for giggles, I'd just get a ZB-26 (Still want one actually). At this sort of price, you might as well start fishing for a Shoei MG42.
renegadecow
Avoid the g&g m1903 I'm going off topic but this information may be useful to you and others. The 98k I worked on ended up shooting at a consistent 400fps at .30g bbs in the end, but it really was a lot of work. For starters when the valve knocker mushrooms out enough it impedes movement which affects consistency. I had to temper the back end of it as it kept getting whacked out of shape by the striker within 20 shots. Then I had to literally overhaul every single seal in the mags with proper o-rings as G&G thought it was good enough to use black colored rubber bands instead. The entire bolt assembly was degreased as even the gas route had lubricant in it which fouled up the hop. Lastly I had to convert it to use green gas. CO2 performance was just horrible due to having three bottle necks in the mag plus those 8g powerlets aren't easy to find locally. The last bottle neck which is actually a restrictor can be removed but it still needs a good 3-5 second pause between shots for the expansion chamber to fill up properly or you get anywhere from 250 to 400fps. Erab
Very glad I did not wait for the G&G one! My £380 (delivered) "A&K" one is wonderful. Plus with that price difference I can put a shed load of parts in mine (not that it needs them) and still have a tonne of cash left over.
Bando
AGM one is on sale on Landwarrior ATM for £399 just an off topic FYI.
