renegadecow
I think WE's taken the whole "lets put holes and slide serrations everywhere with a gold barrel" fad a little too far. Now they've decided to cut the slide in half and I'm not talking like a Hi-Capa Dragon. It cuts right across the top of the breech so the whole front of the slide and presumably the whole barrel assembly is completely static. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1073684082655699.1073741897.302822296408552&type=
NonEx
Their FB post does say though that the slide is completely CNCd from billet aluminum piece. Which I think is a must for that kind of design. Not a fan myself. But for race guns or competition shooters I can see how this might appeal.
FireKnife
Hmm, light to no recoil and a fixed barrel? That would make for one hell of an accurate gun if they get the rest right, or allow you to put a better quality tightbore and hop into it. Not my thing but I am sure it works well for others . hitmanNo2
I'm not sure I trust WE with a slide of that design. How long until someone gets a slide in the face I wonder.

BigAl
If there going for competion accuracy why the hell did they do it on a 17 instead of a 34? A 17L would be even better.
Horsem4n
i like the idea. putting it in a carbine kit or a long, frame mounted compensator, with an extended inner barrel, you dont have to worry about the barrel hitting the top of the compensator/carbine kit. BigAl
If going that route should use a G26 Slide for faster cycle but keep G19 Frame and make up difference with muzzle weight. Like a big Glock Advance.
FireKnife
Wait who sells that stick on compensator? Still given my try of a WE Dragon back in the day, the cut slide thing just doesn't impress. 'FireKnife'
TheFull9
Has there been a massive explosion in IDPA/IPSC type airsoft competitions somewhere that I've not heard of? You're not going to want to skirmish that in your holster with the cocking handle sticking out... to my mind anyway.
blobface
It's always been pretty huge in Hong Kong and Japan, and 3-gun has been growing recently more than ever thanks for GBBs being better and better and the existence of the APS shotgun.
NonEx
Yerp. 3 gun airsoft for sure. I am really happy for APS that they got their platform going in that area of airsoft. When they first released it and I spoke with them they were pretty bummed about it not taking off much.
tquilha
IMHO, this time WE took a pretty ugly gun (Glock) and made it uglier. Not for me, I'm patiently waiting for my P38.
NeoVeNoM
So, I wonder if the person, who made the executive decision to cut the slide through number "17", still has his job?
hitmanNo2
Probably got promoted. They found a way to get rid of all the slides that break in the factory and charge people for them ha ha.
paranoiddroid
If there going for competion accuracy why the hell did they do it on a 17 instead of a 34? A 17L would be even better. 17L isn't ipsc legal as far as I am aware it's not USPSA legal for production that I am sure of and I don't think it fits in the box for open. Barrel length in airsoft, especially at those sizes really wouldn't affect accuracy all that much.
LordElpus
Barrel length in airsoft, especially at those sizes really wouldn't affect accuracy all that much. on a GBB it does effect FPS though
renegadecow
Then again they don't really need high fps in 10m competition shooting. Heck even hop up is often removed for that. Which, again, begs to question who was this made for?
kyon
Well, I'm going to be in Hong Kong and Taiwan in a couple weeks, maybe I can just pick one up just to see why.
blobface
Has there been a massive explosion in IDPA/IPSC type airsoft competitions somewhere that I've not heard of? Slightly off topic, but back on the airsoft IDPA / IPSC, this is a new video by Joe Lau (I think he's kinda famous in the HK airsoft IPSC scene) using the things we were talking about above. https://youtu.be/Z038hFTePxk?t=
Alias1983
The video don't work for me blob. We is trying to get in on the sai and other bling the high end gun makers push to get people to spend money. I myself prefer the slide the gun comes with. Call me crazy.
