Detonator Colt 1911 2016 Version

The first 1911 kit with a steel chip insert! Having a Nova kit it's still disappointing to know I won't be able to use my slide catch without the aluminum slide getting worn into oblivion and damaging my 500 dollar purchase...

Additionally, it seems they were going all out and implemented a barrel link in replicating the barrel tilt and lock mechanism of the real 1911. Unlike other detonator kits the outer barrel is steel. Of course proprietary outer barrel because of this but the hop unit and inner frame are also different than Nova's

I want to see some of the springfield guns in this style!!

admittedly 875 is high however the price of the kit is because Japan prices, the 500 dollar nova kits are around 1000 in Japan so comparatively this is a pretty good deal over there.

However unlike Nova Detonator doesn't have an HK pricing model so boomarms has Japan prices for the kit as well.

Even with the really cool bbu housing/chamber design it is still going to wear a bit seeing as the chamber is steel and the slide lugs are 6065 alu, I would prefer a non tilt barrel for extended use. But the steel insert for the slide catch is a great idea, far play.

the wear will be significantly less though because with a traditional marui faux tilting barrel design the ramp on the hop unit/tail of the outer barrel diagonally wedges it into the slide lugs but with a barrel link design like the detonator/real steel 1911 the entire rear part of the outer barrel drops straight down on unlocking and straight up on slide return and lockup. Steel on steel would definitely be ideal but the wear should be less imo. Of course someone will have to see...

There doesn't seem to be a aluminum version of the s70 kit yet, however since the aluminum 1911a1 detonator kit just surfaced as new, it is very likely that there will be a aluminum version of the steel Trigger Happy s70 kit too for probably the same price of 850-900 dollars

the steel bluing looks real nice though :)

While we are at it I would absolutely love the PAPAGO Arms custom Colt defender super 90 lightweight in CNC aluminium and steel.

I have already broken my toy gun budget for this year. .... : (

That steel 1911 kit is so expensive Google thought I made a mistake in currency conversion lol

"Did you mean jpy?" :P

I have to ask, seriously, are those steel 1911 kits even possible to get working with the tiny TM 1911 gas magazine? :o

Or are these kits just for collection/display or what?

I've always wondered if any UK machine shops would be interested in producing slides & frames. (and the same for machine shops in the USA)

Surely they'd make a fortune? - the above prices are just silly imo. Especially as steel is cheaper than aluminium.

The problem is, most machine shops in the USA make a fortune producing small stuff like screws and roll pins, not specialized stuff like airsoft parts. And then they're trademark laws that come into play. In the end they would be charging the same (as Asian companies like detonator's "trigger happy", ra-tech or inokatsu) if not more for a limited product with a small demographic.

No usa cnc shop would even look at you for under 100000$ order. Back in the day, ive tried that with some 2D parts. You might as well go to Germany, which due to their gun laws, forget it.

So that's why all that stuff is in asia.. they actually produce things there
