UAC shutting their doors

There has been some discussion over on Facebook lately regarding UAC having sent out notifications to their retailers about closing shop. There haven't been any reasons given as far as I can tell, but Alpha Airsoft and a few others have confirmed the info. Right now no clue as to whether or not they're gone for good or if this is just temporary.

Does anyone have any additional information on this?

He has deep pockets now and essentially for the US market...he wrote a lot of checks to get everything into the US directly under his various "house" brands.

I am not faulting his business acumen, but he has destroyed the HK Airsoft shops.

As for UAC, I am not sure, I am just answering about the business atmosphere in HK of which much of it is caused by the PRC Chinese.

Not sure I'm following. Do you mean that Evike essentially outmatched the competition by the sheer number of items they have available?

I think he means Evike is attempting to take over different ACM OEM's and branding it as their "own" stuff (e.g. "Evike" brand).

Specifically making them available domestically in the US. It's a lot less hassle to order direct domestically even if it can be more expensive than international orders.

He has done all 3.

I think they're not killing OEMs, butr rather they are buying them up, killing retailers in HK who have nothing more to sell, when OEM production is all funneled to Evike. Trying to monopolize the distribution, especially to US market.

They've done all kinds of things.  They have exclusive deals with various RS companies.  They've commissioned brand new models from OEM manufacturers.  They're the exclusive distributors in the US for various brands.  They import a lot more unusual stuff than they used to, making it easier not to order from HK.  They do all this crazy rebranding, to Matrix, etc.  Obviously, they're primarily in a competition with Airsoft GI; Evike expanded into other areas from its one base, whereas GI has diversified geographically.  Who knows, in the long term, that might be the smarter move.

This doesn't make sense. For years everybody has told us how the US market is irrelevant and now people are sayin evike is killing HK manufacturers (UAC is a manufacturer, not a retailer/reseller) is beyond implausible.

Evike isn't killing anything nor are they undercutting prices of imported goods.

Airsoft prices vs quality are out of control and this is a normal market correction. I liked UAC but their 50$ nozzles never seal right :\ things like that don't help

The people that said the US market is irrelevant did not have the vision to see a country that has more than 2 guns per citizen is very big market.

Going on 20+ years in the US industry.  I still run into "rich" old guys that say..."hey have you ever seen this? I just found it at
