Complete Inokatsu Rifles – Crazy Sale!

Ting from Russian Mania Workshop has been in touch to let everyone know of a crazy new deal he is offering on COMPLETE Inokatsu rifles.

That’s right folks – COMPLETE, rather than the standard kit form we have come to associate with Inokatsu:

Russian Mania Workshop always brings you surprise. In order to let more people knows about Inokatsu, we have made a deal with Inokatsu to release a complete AEG kit with REALLY REASONABLE price! You just need to assemble the kit and it rocks! The promotion material shows is self explained. Hope you guys love this offer and it only last for 2 weeks.

Best Regards,

Ting (Russian Mania Workshop)

For those not familiar with Inokatsu, they offer without a doubt the best mass produced replicas of AK variants in the airsofting market (that should earn me some hatemail from the VFC fans). If accuracy and quality are your goal, you’ll find it difficult to beat an offer like this. If you’ve ever wanted an RPK or 105 like mine (only that yours will work, obviously), this is the deal for you!

Academy AKS-74U AEG

This forum thread has details and pictures of the new Academy AKS-74U. Only a test sample at this stage, but an affordable, mid-budget AKs-74U is always a good thing.

The only worrying thing is that the stock is made of “engineering plastic” – a plastic folding stock seems to be asking for trouble.

Intellect battery products price set to rise

Word from Mike (TeamSD) is that Intellect Battery (http://intellect-battery.com/) product prices are apparently set to rise at the sources:

Hello Arnies,

Team SD is one of the suppliers of Intellect Battery pack for airsofters in the US.

This is a public announcement that production cost of Intellect Battery pack has increased and the result is a 30% minimum increase in retail prices.

This may not matter to majority airsofters but it is important to the wholesalers and retailers of Intellect Batteries across the globe.

Thank you for your time.

Best Regards,

Mike Ho

AirsoftWiki

Rick “Nightshade” Raddue from Airsoft Pacific has been kind enough to set up AirsoftWiki, a wiki site (a la Wikipedia) solely for airsoft.

This wiki needs information, which is where you come in – if you have some free time, why not add something to the site?

Update from AI Mag

Paul (www.ai-mag.com) has sent in a small bit of news from them. Now to be brutally honest and fair, the text it is rather self praising (however Paul has a lot to be proud of regarding AI). That said however the content does tell you where you can find the magazine and gives a complete list of sellers:

  • Costcutter stores
  • Borders
  • North Cliffe News Agents
  • And leading independent magazine outlets

Our US news trade circulation continues to grow as 50 more stores have come on line this month through Barnes and Nobles.

Whilst our UK and European Airsoft trade stays pretty much static our US Airsoft Trade has gone into over drive. Thanks to our good friend Palco Sports, AI is now available in over 2,000 of their retailers (List to follow).

Also thanks to our good friends at Spartan Imports AI is now with out a shadow of a doubt the most widely available Airsoft publication within the US Airsoft trade.

The latest edition of AI can be found on sale at the following stores US Stores

[see read more.. for full details]

Once again confirming that AI is the largest distributed and biggest selling Airsoft publication in America. AI setting the standards in Airsoft publishing that other publications simply can’t match.

Mysql service issues

Since the load shifted to the new box mysql has not been stable. We’re getting “max connection” issues and in short the database service isn’t remaining stable and online. When it’s running it is blindingly fast, which is great, but for some reason it’s just not stable.

We don’t know what’s up with it exactly, however the issue has been flagged and is currently being checked by the hosting firm that runs the datacentre. I’m leaving the issue in their capable hands as they have vastly more experience than I do with mysql systems.

Apologies folks, but like I said before moves aren’t without teething issues and we are looking into it actively. We all want this service back being trouble free and efficient. ;)

Update: (240407/1827GMT) techs are still looking into things. In the meantime I’ve disabled the bar on some pages of the site that related stats for the forums, member login details etc. It might have been the cause.. I dunno at the moment but it was a random thought at the time.

A complete overhaul/upgrade of the forums has been ordered too. I’ll post more about that as and when I know about it (see here). We’ll lose the current look of the forums and a couple of tweaks/mods, but it needs an update anyway (the current design dates back to 2005 believe it or not).

MG stock pictures posted – FN MAG 58?

Definately one for the rumor mill at this time. Posted by recondo in the forums are shots of “A.E.G machine gun stock test sample”. Apparently made of high quality plastics and come from a free lance mold designer.  Looks like there’s gonna be a new M240 appearing on the market soon (Inokatsu?).

Airsoft Safety post Virginia Tech Tragedy

Sales at Depot53.com wrote up an article and added it to their website after the VT tragedy. They mailed it over and I thought that it’d be a good idea to syndicate it here:

Airsoft Safety – In the Wake of the Virginia Tech Tragedy

In the aftermath of the Virginia Tech shootings, public and law enforcement sensitivity to anyone with a firearm is justifiably at an all time high.  As such it is extremely important that you, as a responsible  airsofter, are aware your activities are going to receive extra scrutiny.

Concern over copycat crimes and people with weapons is certain to draw attention to anyone carrying a firearm (airsoft or real), and especially people running around in camo or tac gear in neighborhoods, or wooded areas looking like they are shooting each other.  To ensure your safety, here are some simple precautions you should take:

  • Because airsoft guns are indistinguishable in most situations from actual firearms, it is important you treat your airsoft replica as if it was a real firearm.
  • Transport airsoft guns in enclosed containers such as gun cases.
  • Do NOT display an airsoft gun in a public place. Displaying an airsoft gun in an inappropriate location can lead to your arrest and/or confiscation of your guns by local law enforcement.
  • Refrain from skirmishing in your neighborhood or other public places if possible.  If this isn’t possible, as a courtesy to your neighbors let them know you or your children will be playing in the area with airsoft guns.
  • DON’T play anywhere on, or near a school or college campus.  This is just plain stupid!

If someone does report your activities to local authorities and law enforcement officers are dispatched, they are going to take the call very seriously.  Because your weapons look real, the outcome of the situation and possibly your life will depend on how you react.  When approached by a law enforcement officer, do the following:

  • Remain calm and follow all instructions issued by the police immediately and without hesitation.
  • If you are carrying a weapon in your hands, immediately (and slowly) place it on the ground and step back from it, keeping your hands visibly away from the trigger.
  • If your weapon is in a holster or slung over your shoulder, do NOT remove or unsling it until instructed to do so by the officer.  When instructed, do it slowly and keep your hands away from the trigger.
  • Make sure the officer can see your hands at all times.
  • Under NO circumstances point your weapon at the officer.  This will get you killed.  Last year a Middle School student in Longwood, Florida was shot and killed when he pointed his airsoft pistol a Seminole County Deputy.

It is also important to note that Federal Law requires the first 1/4″ (quarter inch) of the barrel of the gun be blaze orange.  If you have removed the orange tip, it has worn off, or been lost, go to a local hardware store buy some orange plastic tape and put it on your gun.  Failure to do this can result in your airsoft weapon being confiscated because it doesn’t comply with Federal Law.

The bottom line to all of this is YOU have a responsibility to your community and for your own safety.   Be Smart . . . Be Safe! (Depot53.com)
