Steven has mailed in details of a game over in NC on the 17th-18th of November:

Fulda Gap Scenario Game at CDCW November 17-18th in Hickory, NC

This 2 dayer will absolutely be the airsoft event of the year (at least for the SouthEast)- pulling out all stops-tanks, possibly helicopters, etc. Think Irene/Lion Claw, without the sticker-shock. Go ahead and clear your calender, schedule vacation, call peeps, whatever. We want a huge turn out for this game!

Cost $30 for the weekend and $15 for either day singly, quick gun rule, hi-caps allowed but discouraged.

Registration for Fulda Gap Airsoft will be opening on 11/2 or 11/3 as soon as pre-reg closes for the Paintball version.
There is plenty of room for camping onsite. Due to the drought, ground Fires will be prohibited, but raised portable fire pits are acceptable.
The 400fps with a .25g bb limit still stands. All SAWs or Sniper class weapons must be approved.
Planning and team selection is currently occurring on the NCAirsoft.org forums.

Here is the site with more information http://www.fuldagap.com/ just substitute paintball for airsoft and it should make sense. The location of the game can be found here http://www.cdpaintball.com/. Google map link.

I know that they have a different address listed but this is a quite a bit closer than what they have.

First shots of DYTac VLTOR MUR

Posted by uscmCorps in the forums are some details of a product from DYTac. DYTac are a new company that are set to release their first product to market. Their first product looks set to be this Modular Upper Receiver (MUR) from VLTOR. Here’s the details he posted - check the forums for more updates:

Here’s a world wide exclusive for all you VLTOR lovers out there…

Not many of you are familiar with the airsoft aftermarket parts manufacturer DYTac. They’re a fresh new company that up till now have been selling products coated in Multicam Hydrographic Film, such as the Multicam IBH, Multicam M4 Mid-Cap mags, Multicam Vertical grip, to name but a few. The owner of DYTac actually has a prominent role in another relatively well known Hong Kong aftermarket parts manufacturer (which will remain nameless). It was his hope to bring new products to the airsoft market which the partners of his other company deemed “wouldn’t sell”. LOL… It was that kind of narrow mindedness that compelled the owner of DYTac to start his own company to make replicas of some of the more obscure real steel components out there. A wise decision in my opinion.

DYTac has a very strong vision of the kind of product they hope to manufacture and sell. The first product on their plate is the Modular Upper Receiver (aka… MUR) originally designed by the real steel parts manufacturer, VLTOR. The VLTOR MUR, is 100% G&P compatible. So if you have a G&P M4 receiver, you can simply slide off the old upper, and slide on the MUR. It’s as simple as that!

When the final production pieces are released in the next few weeks (probably about 2-3 weeks) the first production run will be a limited run. The first production run, and any further production runs are all made using CNC machining. Each piece is made from one solid piece of aluminum (or aluminium for my fellow Brits). Against my advice, DYTac is pricing these to sell and sell fast. I say “against my advice”, because I strongly recommended a much higher MSRP to DYTac than what the final piece will cost the consumer. In my opinion, the quality of the piece, the fact that it’s all CNC’ed, material cost, production cost, the limited quantity of the first run… I honestly feel that DYTac is undervaluing this product. However, they feel that as part of their business philosophy, they wish to produce high quality replicas for affordable prices in order to keep sales strong. I can’t comment on the exact MSRP currently, but I can probably say that it is somewhere in the $150+/- range. Some may still consider this a steep price for just half a receiver, but consider the fact that this is a limited production run (100 pieces) and that it is CNC’ed… IMHO, I’d expect this kind of thing to cost in the $200-$300 range if it were made by most other high-end aftermarket parts makers.

First, some pics of a sample piece for your enjoyment (note that the forward assist is absent from the pics, but will be present in the finished pieces):

mursample02br5mursample01zm3

Currently, I’m still a little fuzzy as to what, if any accessories this comes with (such as bolt cover, fake bolt, etc.). I was under the impression that the set will come with a real steel bolt cover… but like I said, my memory is a bit fuzzy on the details. However, given that this is 100% G&P compatible, chances are, if you already have a G&P receiver, all those parts will drop right into the MUR as well.

Here’s some pics of the parts being CNC’ed at various stages:

vltorcncprocess05wu5vltorcncprocess01iy3vltorcncprocess02wh5 vltorcncprocess03lk9vltorcncprocess04sf7

Here’s what the first rough draft looked like (not even considered a prototype, just a quickly machined part to test accuracy of the CAD files):

murprototype06fs9murprototype01wu4murprototype02tl6murprototype03hb0murprototype05uk9

Trademarks are laser engraved and 100% accurate. They have been carefully reproduced by a skilled graphic designer (*ahem*  ), and even features the UID (Unique ID) code engraved on the top of the flattop, at the rear. One important note about trademarks, as many of you know, a lot of the HK retailers have a tendancy to cover, or in some cases destroy trademarks (where’s that puke emoticon when I need it?). Anyway, once these are available at your favorite retailer, make sure you make the necessary inquiries with that retailer prior to purchasing the part as to how they deal with trademarks. At one point, Redwolf only destroyed trademarks of complete guns, but recent reports have come in that they’ve been doing that to parts/components as well. It would really suck to receive your MUR and have all the nice trademarks that “someone” worked hard to produce.

The finish of the piece is done through anodizing just like the real steel version is. From the samples I have seen, and compared to my own RS VLTOR MUR, you simply can’t get this replica any closer to the RS piece. It’s just that good.
Personally, I’m really hoping to see King Arms produce their new M4 receivers with the STAG ARMS logo on the left, and VLTOR on the right as that is how it is on the real steel version. (Don’t worry KA has the necessary artwork  ). Then I could drop my new MUR onto the top of that and call it a day. It’s also worth noting that the VLTOR receiver that’s been out there for almost a year now is also G&P compatible (because it’s actually a rebranded G&P receiver). So you could just as easily drop the MUR on the top of one of those to have a VLTOR upper and lower. SO HAWT!

Needless to say, this is not the last piece we will be seeing from DYTac. There are other awesome products on the horizon (none of which I can comment on at this time). But as they get closer to completion, I will bring that info to you asap.

Hope you guys are as excited about this as I was. I can’t wait to put my LaRue 7″ rail on this. More pics to come in about a week.

Yuji Gun Factory Benelli M4 GBB Semi-Auto Custom

Owners of the Craft Apple Work’s  Benelli M1014 beware that  this is not just the spring powered CAW Benelli, but with Yuji Gun Factory’s modified Maruzen M1100 semi-auto gas cartridge blowback model.

Boasting G&P’s Benelli folding stock on a full-size M4 custom (CAW 1014), this is every shotgun user’s dream. With the help of the gas cartridge ejecting system found on Maruzen’s M1100 series, you too can enjoy the realism of loading the cartridges (7+1) and firing on semi-auto leaving the field nothing but spent cartridges on the floor. The operation of this gun is exactly like the Maruzen M110 shotgun, in which gas is loaded into the grip, shells are inserted, and the bolt is charged prior to firing. The gun fires on semi-auto so there is no pump-action on this model. Yuji Gun Factory has been always known for his high-end customs of most Marui-based shotguns like the M3 and SPAS12 with pump shell ejection) and blowback systems and other highly rare customs not available anywhere.

In depth review of the A&K M249 Para

Well the time has come for me to publish another review and this time I have pulled all the stops to bring you all the most in depth and conclusive review of the A&K M249 Para. There has been a huge amount of interest in this replica and many have posted their desire for just such a review!

Not only is there over 7000 words and a huge amount of high quality pictures packed in to this review but I have taken some video to show off some of the awesome features of this weapon, so head on in to the Review section to read more!

What with more and more replicas coming out of Chinese factories time has come for them to replicate something that many of us have been waiting for. Finally A&K has replicated the Classic Army M249 Mk.I, Mk.II and Para version of the famous Fabrique Nationale (FN) Minimi or Mini-Machine gun.
Now having been stung once before by an A&K replica I was a little wary of the M249, but what with this gun pretty much being in the Number 1 spot on my wish list for as long as I can remember I was both eager to open the package up to see what was inside and slightly apprehensive at the prospect of another lemon!

www.HMVFTV.com launches

logoAirsoft? No. Related? Yes! The Historic Military Forum have launched their own YouTube style forums specifically for military vehicles. Choc’d full of vids form places like Beltring this is a handy place for collectors:

Dear all.

Ok, ok, so here it is, a brand new military vehicle website from HMVF - but with a twist.

Let me introduce you to the www.HMVFTV.com, the first of its kind - a YouTube for military vehicles!

We have all uploaded videos to YouTube only for them to be lost amongst the many millions of videos on there.  HMVF TV is a video site specifically for military vehicles and that includes anything from a bicycle to an aircraft carrier, from any country or any era.  It is for the military vehicle movement to share video footage from events around the world or simply individuals driving or maintaining their own vehicles.

We encourage you to be inventive with your videos otherwise clip after clip of convoys will soon bore people. We would like to see people using their imagination. I have many friends in the Gulf who have some interesting MV footage from there so would be pleased to see material like that.

One unique element(and maybe the first of its kind on the mv scene) we want to encourage is people uploading ‘how to’ videos - essentially a video workshop manual. An example being how to change a wheel, or UJ; or how to change the oil on a Land Rover, GMC, Ferret, Jeep and pretty much anything else you can think of that helps to exchange knowledge and experience and helps to keep history alive.

We will have a section called ‘a buyers video guide’ where those with experience can upload a video on the good and bad points to look for when buying any military vehicle - this is a feature that is designed to help safeguard and inform those of us who haven’t a huge amount of experience with military vehicles.

Above all else the site is to help people to ‘keep them rolling’ and to have fun and to inspire.

Rules of engagement.

All videos will be approved by the team to safeguard everyone from porn and unwanted ‘junk’. No modern ‘action’ footage from current conflicts will be allowed - we have no interest in glorifying war or diminishing the reputation of British or foreign armed forces. These factors will be built into the approval process used by the team.  Any unwanted footage will be deleted immediately and so too will anything else that isn’t relevant - this will be a safe and responsible site.

We want your feedback. Please let us know what you think and suggestions to improve our service. Please send the link out to all your address books and above all else - enjoy!

HMVF TV - www.hmvftv.com

Warm regards.

Jack and the HMVF Team.

Airsoft Surgeon’s new gas cart for rifle - coming soon

Posted over at RedWolf Airsoft is news of one of Clarence’s new projects, a gas powered sheel system for an M700 style Airsoft rifle.

Sadly this isn’t something that is advisable to import into the UK because of the laws relating to self contained gas cartridges. I look forward to seeing how well it performs and what sort of consistency it achieves:

Hot News!!! Airsoft Surgeon’s NEW Gas Cartridge for Sniper Rifle system - coming soon! (2007-10-18)

Hot News! Clarence Lai is currently developing a Gas Cartridge for use with a Sniper Rifle system. The Sniper Rifle picture below is modified by Clarence, so that it functions with the up-and-coming Airsoft Surgeon Gas Cartridges. Each cartridge holds one BB and a gas charge, once fired, you pull the bolt handle back and the shell is ejected just like with the real thing - a detail which proves very pleasing when put to practice. The entire charge of gas devoted to powering one BB also spells huge potential for accuracy and range that cannot be delivered by tank-based gas charged systems. The Airsoft Surgeon system is planned for red gas and other higher pressure gases as well. The Gas Cartridge is still currently under development, although it is a functioning state, Clarence is putting the final touches to it.

The release date has yet to be confirmed, so check back for more News, Pictures & Videos at Redwolf!

Forum news roundup

Okay time for a quick roundup of the latest news posted in the forum news section:

Site news/updates.. yes it’s boring

I know, I know site updates and news about what’s going on behind the scenes is not thrilling nor sexy and not really that interesting, but it does help to let people know what is going on in the wonderful world of servers and software.

First up, a big thanks go to our resident white hatter. Enough said there :) Cheers bud.

Secondly the complete rebuild of all data in the forums is taking place tonight. This is to rework all data in the forums so that it follows the new software format. Things currently work, but some custom BB code might not. Anyway it’s happening right now, so the site might be a bit slow while this happens.

Next up, I’ve enabled the blogging system for all users with a post count above 100 posts. This means that after 100 posts you get your own gallery space, and blog. The new profile feature of the forums allows you to run your own mini site within the forums for your own team, store or possibly a commercial entity. Combined with the gallery you should have all you need for your own online airsoft identity, club or team.

..er there have also been more updates that I can’t quite remember at this time, but things progress. Hopefully you’ll find the forums faster and easier to use.

As a final note I’d like to welcome Levett to the news editing crew.

We’ll slowly be expanding the news role and adding plenty more trusted editors and it’s good to great to have some old and new faces joining up.

New TM gear listed at RedWolf

Armourpiercing posted it in the forums and I thought a bit of replication here wouldn’t hurt.

Obviously the new releases have been known about ffor a bit and have been seen operating on YouTube, but here’s the details from RedWolf:

MAC 10 AEP with suppressor & hand strap: Coming soon from Marui, is the Mac 10; it’s due to come out as a complete gun, suppressor & hand strap package. The length is the same as on the real one, measuring 295mm/548mm (with stock extended), the weight is 1480g. Magazine capacity is 65 rounds, and seems to be based on Marui’s tried & trusted AEP system.

tm-oct07-debio-2l tm-oct07-hcsv-2l tm-oct07-mac10-2l

Desert Eagle Stainless 10″ Leon Custom: Marui carry on their tradition of “game guns” with this Biohazard Limited Edition Desert Eagle. Coming under the moniker of “Leon Custom”, based on the in-game character’s gun. It features the Chrome Stainless finish as seen on the P226 and has a Racoon Police emblem on the grip. Weight: 1277g, length: 370mm, capacity: 27+1.

Hi-Capa Dual tone: There are a lot of fans of the Hi-Capa out there, and for a very good reason too - they’re solid, accurate, reliable guns, and even though there is no real steel equivilent as such, they are great airsoft guns. Marui will be bringing out a Dual Stainless version of their 4.3 Hi-Capa, which gives it a nice two-tone finish.
