Forum updates, feedback system and new versions

    By Arnie

Firstly I'm going to try to document forum updates and other work completed to the site here in my forum blog. This will keep all the forum related updates in one place.   I've completed several updates to the forums today. We're now running the latest IPS versions for Gallery and Blog. There should be several bug fixes and feature adjustments with these new versions; I don't get a list I'm afraid or I'd publish it.   I've also taken comments on the trading system on board and we now have a

Living the dream.

A thought ocurred to me in Holland, and it was a good time for random trails of thought and inspired tangents in the line of thinking, but the thought that most stuck out was that I actually am going to acheive one of my dreams.   There is a saying, by someone cynical, that there are 2 problems with living your dreams; one is that you don't get to do it, and the other is that you do.   I will meditate on this when I've acheived this little one, and see what I think of this particular philo

Here's us! Woo!

A shameful excuse just to use the photo ability of the medium, now that I've bothered to cross-reference the doobries on Photobucket.com and found that the tags for images in the forums are the same as on here. I should have guessed, really.   So here we have, firstly; my mate Jason, who gets more name-checks on here than I do, being a Combat Wombat and posing for the camera. Smart mother-*fruitcage*-er isn't he? The git     And secondly; From left to right - Stuart; purveyor of cheap

Amsterdamnation. Worth the price (£Your.Soul)

It all caught up with me this week. I've been continuing Dutch habits and been hammered every night since I got back and, accordingly, haven't really done very much apart from eat, sleep and mong out, hence the lack of entries when I have so much to blab about   So these crazy fireworks eh? Bloody hellfire. I had no idea they would be *quite* that loud. It was the only surprise Amsterdam held for me, and it was certainly a novelty, what with it actually affecting my hearing and everything.

The M14 saga: part 2

My Tokyo Marui M14 just arrived. Aaaaaaaand relax.   This was my main Christmas present (to my myself, natch) this year, and that's besides the RK-104 I got just before Christmas; this was actually confirmed as a purchase and e-paid on Christmas morning itself. So there ya go, its all official, like.   I Haven't counted for a while but I think that makes it 72 guns now, which is nice, and I realised just how `nice` that actually is the other day when I was sitting on the tram from Den Ha

Amsterdam.

Okay, so I didn't go and buy the wood for making cabinets yet. But I did get back from Amsterdam on Sunday after celebrating new year there.   I think that is a viable excuse, really.   Ah yes, Amsterdam, `Citie of one Thousande Surprisses` as Terry Pratchett might like to think of it, but in truth there were no surprises at all, which....could have been better, which is a real shame because it would be so nice if I hadn't been so calculating about what I saw. What I heard could hardly b

I've got wood.

Uh, huh huh huh, huh huh, huh huh huh, Beavis, uh huh huh, you're pretty dumb, huh huh, dumbass, huh huh huh huh huh, huh huh huh.   Yeah it's a cheap and innacurate gag, but I will have wood soon. And even better, I'm gonna show you all!!!   Before this gets too wrong I have to say I am being thoroughly wholesome here, and entirely literal. I will simply need some wood (uh huh huh huh).   I've sort of opted loosely for Douglas Fir because, according to all the research I did at work wh

Evil-H's Chrimbo special

"..'t - is the season to be jo-lly, fa la la la l - ah, la lah lah l - ah" ..... oh sorry, didn't see you there: Merry Christmas!! (why aren't you cowering beneath a pile or presents and gaggle of relatives? Eh??)   Or the other way round if your a mad scientist, I suppose.   I would be doing the same thing but it's all a wee bit sombre this year of course, and due to our laziness and cold calculating nature we have, in total, received from the family & Jason (pretty much a member of

I just wanted to say.....

....I may not be on Arnies to post in either this blog or the forum over the next week or so, so I better just say this now. Merry Christmas, Seasons Greetings, happy holidays; whichever way you want to say it, whichever religion you're celebrating (if at all) and whatever you get up to, have a good time over the next few days and all the best for 2006.   Take it easy,   Hardcore Mitsuko

Ooooh yeah, gotta love that 8milly

Got drunk last night on a keg of New Heineken that had been brought all the way from the Netherlands to England, just for me. Sort of.   The nature of it's arrival impressed upon me the right way to do business; it was brought, along with assorted other alcoholic presents for all 7 of my colleagues (including our accountant up North and the boss), on an exclusively `personal` trip that held no commercial prospects for the bloke other than the goodwill it engendered.   And considering the g

The Re-Wired Mind and Combat

Well it's not a good idea, really. Getting so thoroughly out of your tree that you stop concentrating on reality for too long and the little pixies arrive, bearing special magical presents just for you, is not exactly conducive to an efficient combat experience.   I went out for a good old-fashioned boogie (I dislike the overuse of the term `rave` by these kiddies who just don't have any idea...) to the `M club` in Southampton. I even thought of a little pun for this place the the other week;

Order Shenanigans #1

This is me thinking out loud, m'kay? The "rewired mind and combat:..." entry is coming once I've figured out how I have actually rewired my mind, but, suffice to say, that it was not especially combat efficient.   Speaking of which, another classic quote from Sledge had me chortling away today: "....that's because women look good naked; lesbians are porn-efficient"   I lol'ed A bit like that, in fact.   But anyway, I'm merely thinking out loud and making sure I know what's go

…and Christmas is cancelled!

This isn't Emo, okay (my personal crusade against them seems to have been started!) but it's a timely reminder, and something worthy of rememberance so if you don't like it, you can politely go and **** yourself   This time of year is almost becoming a bit tragic for our family, with a trace of irony that cannot be ignored, at this time of year.   Being a very strong Christian family (all pretty damned devout except myself and my Brother: Practising Aetheists) the following tale is somewh

2005 Review assessment

My website features reviews of over 140 airsoft guns, the vast majority airsoft pistols.   When I review them, I often wonder how popular a specific review will be and I've been doing some assessment of 2005's figures (thanks to Marcus' excellent stats package - Big thanks again to Marcus for hosting the site!).   The top 22 reviews are :   Model____________Pages_____Brand___%age HFC Hi-Capa_________3,434_____HFC_______9.1% HFC M9 190__________2,710_____HFC_______7.1% TM Desert

I'm so glad that's over...

I have no idea how it happened, but that last essay I was talking about in my last update turned out to be an absolute nightmare. I had all the information to hand (or most of it) but still, of the two days I had to finish it I spent about 12 hours of each trying to get it done. Functioning on hardly any sleep is not fun, since I was up half the night worrying about it. Stupid thing. Regardless, I got it done and handed in on time.   I can quite happily say that after the mood swing episodes

The M14 saga

Goddamn M14s. I'm starting to despise them now, as much as I lust after one they have caused untold misery to millions.... </exaggeration>.   No I'm hardly annoyed about it, just a little bewildered, and it's that they are so problematic compared to all other AEGs I've ever bought. I just snubbed Guns N Guys offer of one at £3000 (HKD) which is about £220, in favour of WGC's $318 (USD). The differences of course are that WGC have just quotd me and they want $86 USD for shipping!!

Minions of the Dark Lord.

There are some sick souls out there, and it may come as no surprise to you that many of them are working in marketing departments up and down the country, and all around the world.   I sampled the foul fruit of their insidious labours not even half an hour ago....   What kind of sick son of a b*tch designs, manufactures and markets a rubber hairbrush? I mean c'mon, honestly - this f*cker is going down, come the finish; I mean, if Constantine isn't just being creatively paranoid, and the fo

EvilHippy's hangover cure

I call it the `Prairie Ouster`: Take 4 raw eggs, some olive oil (large dash), some vinegar (another large dash) salt & pepper and some tabasco sauce if you can find it, stick them all in a paper cup/bowl made of today's newspaper and use it as an excuse to get next to the most senior person in the office you can find, and when there simply smack the mixture into their face, making sure to rub it deep into their eyes and ears.   It'll cure your hangover in a second, I guarantee it The c

Emo Vs Goth: who would win/cry first?

Clearly the Emo would cry first, goths are hard-as-nails; up until the point they lose their nail-varnish or you switch the light on.   Okay, so feel free to hate me, but I have every right to mock seeing as I used to be a "goth" (I was about 16) and although the term didn't exist at the time, I had decidedly "emo" tendencies every now and then (every week) within that whole sphere of `gothdom`.   Of course, a far simpler way to put it would be to say "I was 16 once".   Not that all 16

Oh Dear.

Quick mention to this article in the Times online that makes me really quite worried, and sad.   The precedent for this was set by the Neo-Nazi organisations and the Ku Klux Klan. Oh dear, what is it going to take for politically-minded bigots to realise how much harm they're really doing

What not to wear

I'm trying to think of an amusing costume for Sunday's skirmish, it is Christmas after all. I wanted a Santa Claus full-on outfit with a pillow round my waist (getting close to not needing one actually) and the full beard/hat combo.   And a sign on my back reading "Ho-Ho-Ho Now I have a Machinegun"   Or maybe an elf, that way a green & brown semi-covert ensemble could be fashioned, but this would involve more free time and effort than I actually have/am willing to give up I'll go fo

Roleplaying an X-man....

Pic created here and is based off the uniforms in the 'New X-men' storyline.   You know, it's really scary when you realise that what you've been doing the past term isn't roleplaying.   Tonight was roleplaying.   Showed up at Gugs early and played some munchkin until the rest of the group show up. Over a couple of cans of fiz and some munchies, Rich helps me batter together a character. I already knew what my background was gonna be as per my older post, but I wasn't sure just how the

The other ones were too rude

Ever wondered what a Smart Car looks like if you plough it into a concrete wall at 70mph? Well Tiff Needell obviously did, and it looks a bit like this:   http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6605730767077503480   Overall, I must say I am impressed; the little blighters can take a fair wallop!! Mostly because they weigh so little, I'm sure, but it's all good for the driver (although maybe they should have simulated the weight of a driver in with it...?)   I can send no more of the

Rage Against The Machine

French Connection U.K. - ing computers, goddamn them and their spawn unto the 71st generation; sometimes it's almost, almost like I could forfeit all of their benefits for the lack of stress not ever using one entails. They wind me up that much.   Of course, then I wouldn't be able to show off all my toys to you guys so I guess I'll have to battle through with it   Also I must mention here; for the sake of not going off on yet another tangent and losing a good thread; that the titular b
