Forum updates, feedback system and new versions

    By Arnie

Firstly I'm going to try to document forum updates and other work completed to the site here in my forum blog. This will keep all the forum related updates in one place.   I've completed several updates to the forums today. We're now running the latest IPS versions for Gallery and Blog. There should be several bug fixes and feature adjustments with these new versions; I don't get a list I'm afraid or I'd publish it.   I've also taken comments on the trading system on board and we now have a

Rebirth?

It has been an interesting week to say the least. Happily I ended the night as a new member of a forum peopled by my old old cohorts who had been displaced by the great big nothing. Even more surprisingly I woke up to be offered a chance to really take part in the establishment of this new forum. It really came as a very big surprise to me since I wasn't really close with any of the new Admins over there. But I have been blessed with my own little corner of the web, which focuses on my pet o

Ah well, moving on.

Goodbye ASF. Sorry to see you go, but without rancor, I hope it feels the loss of the members it drove away. Someone needs to learn a lesson.   In airsoft news I spent all night swapping parts around between a Hi Capa and a 1911. Fun exercise. I now have a new 2011 masquarading as a classic 1911. Actually pretty excited about it, and will be buying new bits and pieces to complete the look in the near future. The thumb safety, grip safety, hammer, trigger, outer barrel and stock slide

End of an era?

What happened to ASF?! I really am going to miss what that place used to be. I mean, I have often complained about posting in too many forums, but it had all sort of boiled down to a forum for each particular purpose. I would post here to to basically pimp my sheit and spent the vast majority of my time in the pictures threads (which seems to be a habit of more than just myself). I would take the knowledge I gained from here (and my own building) and pass it on to newer members on ASF. Bah.

Stupid wires...

I have a bunch of other stuff that I should be doing right now, most especially sleeping, but oh well.   I've been having some pains in my left hand the past few days. I think it's because I was splitting wood. Normally this wouldn't affect anything other than my arms, but it was cold out and I made the mistake of wearing cotton cloves. In case you didn't know, swinging an 8-pound smooth wood-handled maul is not easy when you're wearing cotton gloves. I'm not sure why it's only my left ha

Dork in Dorking

Just got back from dorking, blinding day, although it did chuck it down at the end. Plenty of laughs, plenty of kills, plenty of noobs.   Chrono'd the G36, aiming for 500, came out at 498, not bad I think. Range with .25s was ballistic, sadly though my battery died after only 2500 rounds, it wasn't fully charged because I was rushed, but I was expected a few more shots that that out of it. I did reflect on how lucky it was I previously installed a MOSFET on that weapon, 2500 shots on single s

Oh come on!

My KWC Desert Eagle stopped working again. It figured, I get rid of or repair one thing, something else breaks and takes its place.   It's not all that bad, though. It had destroyed itself for no reason once before. I was firing it one day, when all of a sudden the blowback frame snapped around the area that a little grub screw that reset the trigger mech was screwed into, causing a bunch of little pieces to be launched from the slide. Pretty stupid of them to make such a part out of plas

Reservoir Blogs!

Well the fiesta was lifted onto the back of a flat bed truck and taken away, was beginning to become an eye sore out in the street in the condition it was in.   I still can't find my discharger, pain in the *albartroth*, I rigged up a 12v bulb to substitute for now.   .25g are just too light for 500+ fps, unstable as *fruitcage*. Need to get some blaster .3g.   Got work tomorrow 9-5.. not too bad, usually 8:45-6:30 on weekdays; I don't mind working Saturdays actually, goes fairly quickl

VZ61 Chrono results.

Chrono readings on the VZ61, 65 degrees, .20 Toytecs, room temperature mag:   Stock: 1 - 299 2 - 299 3 - 306 4 - 303 5 - 300 6 - 297 7 - 297 8 - 284 9 - 296 10 - 297   Avg: 297.80   With Nine Ball Tight Bore: 1 - 335 2 - 338 3 - 334 4 - 325 5 - 323 6 - 328 7 - 326 8 - 325 9 - 326 10 - 320   Avg: 328.00   So a gain of about 30fps over 10 shots. Now I just need to have DB cut me a custom length one to fit a suppressor. Should break 400 (I h

Good... our first blog.. of the day!

The title of this entry comes from the beginning of Empire Stikes Back, this idiot just has one line to say - Good, our first catch of the day- and he totally messes it up.     Anyway, haven't softed for 5 Months and have a game on Sunday, should be a gooden only taking the two G36s, and probably an AEP.   My parts arrived from Fire Support and Zero One on Wednesday and I ordered them on Tuesday - result. 2 white G&P Pistons and an ICS turbo 3000. My long g36 is now very naughty and v

Comic book film and TV

Okay so obviously I'm not really qualified to comment on comics cos I don't read many... but I can't help noticing the flaws in how they're translated into film, just on the biggest two out recently Spiderman 3 and Superman Returns I could write about 10 volumes of "things Sam Rami should not have done" and slightly less on superman, cos I have to admit, even though there aren't any actual villains for superman to fight its a pretty decent movie. Spidey shoehorned in enough villains(who had act

I build Glocks too...

Finished up the Evike gun, all buttoned down and ready to go. Looking forward to future work with this client, he wants me to build him a TM DE, one of my favorite gun. Speaking of which, man I want another one. Really need to hold out for the Leon, makes more sense. Speaking of DEs, I found Hogue wood grips for them, which has only made me want one more and more.   I also buttoned down a build for another client. He really badly wants a Hitman Gun, so I am going to take a stab at it. T

Grips, grips and more grips

So I think I have figured out what my next few builds are actually going to be. First off is going to be a non-flute Tanaka SAA Cavalry. Black base gun, with silver trigger and hammer, and white pearl Ajax grips. Hopefully I can actually source the pieces I want, but we shall see. Stupid thing is going to be expensive, but man are Tanaka SAA nice. I would drop all these parts on my current one, but I think the flat black parts will clash with the rest of it since it is a midnight coated gun

Return of the Evike Custom

So I had to look at a a previous customers gun again since for some reason the fps had dropped pretty drastically. I couldn't figure out a reason why over the phone so I just had him send it back to me. Funny enough, I ran it on my chrono and it shot where I thought it should. Can't really figure out why his readings where 20fps lower than mine. I use a Guarder Speeder 2000, and he is using two separate F1 Chronos. I wonder if my chrono is off, but I can't figure out a way to figure it out.

Projects, upgrading, customizing...

First ever airsoft related entry!   My Maruzen M1100 (pain in the *albatross* though it was) really reminded me of the unique feeling I got after repairing something, or getting something to work like I wanted.   Ever since I was really young, I always enjoyed taking things apart. Not necessarily to see how the worked, and I never tried getting those things back together, but just taking them apart to see what they looked like inside, and p[laying with all the little bits. As I matured

My own blog!

Oooh, a new fangled addition to the website, fun fun fun.   So, after making the choice between Airsoft or a Gaming Computer, i chose Airsoft, which i feel is the right decision.   But after the hard drive crashed on my main computer,.. well, i've been consigned to the laptop until i get a new computer! Anyway:   Some new clone guns have come unto the market, tempting me to the point of narrowing it down to the Warrior L96, or the A&K M249 MKII,.. both have there good points and b

Aha an update!

So, an update is now.   A busy two weeks of coursework, and 5 finished assignments to show for it, alas there done and out the way.   Well, what else has been going on in the past 2 weeks, well aside from college and the usual coursework skedadel, i've been making more time to see people, go out and do what men normally do.... when they go out.   Now, talk about spreading the love of all things bacterial but, c'mon spreading the cold about is really taking it too far, and during a time

Waiting for sales....

Man I hate waiting for sales to complete. I also hate not having a bunch of extra cash, finances suck. Funny how people ask left and right for something, until you actually decide to sell it. I also hate when people make you jump to meet a price, be ready to ship on time, and then keep you hanging for a week and then back out. I could have sold my Constrictor a week ago, but I tried to be nice and waited for someone to come up with the cash only to have him back out at the last moment. Lame

Trip to the dentist

Nothing airsoft related but I went to the dentist today. I'm not going to get into it too deeply (I'll spare you that horror).   First thing I notice when I get there is the mini TV. Do people really need to watch TV while they're getting their teeth cleaned? The only thing I can do while some one's scraping at my teeth with a steel pick (more on that in a second) is sit still and fall half asleep.   Next thing I'm thinking about while sleeping in their chair is how can all this scrap

Number two.

Technically, number 7. Ridge Racer 7. I remember playing the first ones back in school so I was thinking , that but with PS3 shiny polish. Its not. Maybe its just me but I remember having to time the turn and dab the brakes to powerslide the car now it seems that Namco have simplified that and the method used to powerslide is now "the left stick"(or tilt the pad if you set it that way). Every single Odin-forsaken turn is a powerslide, in fact I found it possible to travel in pretty much a str

Thought I might try this whole blog thing

Since blogs can be made by anyone now, I thought I might make my own to fill with a bunch of stuff that no one's going to see 'cause no one reads these things anyhow. Mainly I created this blog because I like to write, and since school's started again and I have to write now, I barely get to write anything I want. I'd usually write reviews, but I try to get those as perfect as possible, and often it'll take me several hours of work to get them the way I want (not all at once of course).

My first ever entry in my first ever blog.

First let me say, if you don't get the title, congratulations, you probably have a life. I'll do my best to warn you when I'm about to ramble on about something like, how much quicker (and with ironically less bloodshed)Frank would have dealt with the Joker than Bruce - its quite obvious and short this time .   So yeah, I finally decided to make a blog. Before I'd always kinda assumed that anyone who really wanted my badly thought out misconceived ill-informed opinion would just ask. But my
