Less than enjoyable times

So while it is sunny and altogether a lot more summer like outside, I'm stuck at a PC working away on my dissertation.   Yes, I at last have started the write-up part, which as most will know amounts to 10,000 words. Practical stuff was finished last week, a few months later than it should have been, but I wasn't the only last minute student in the labs!   Hmm, 10,000 words   Christ...   I have a week from today to get a full draft written for my supervisor to check & probably de

Cars

Its gone 3:30am, and I have decided that insurance grouping & actual quotes for me are seemingly completely random to one another.   2.0 Primera GT more to insure than a 2.8 Golf VR6 - Whiskey Tango Foxtrot ?   Someone out there is having a giraffe !   Airsoft type stuff posted soon.   That is all.

Over one year later...

Well, I guess it is slightly obvious I forgot all about this blog.   It's a Sunday, I'm not really doing a whole lot, so I figured why not make an update entry of what I've been up to since the last entry. I love Bank Hol weekends !   Lets see...   The 07 GZ weekender was an interesting and fun weekend. I haven't made it there this year unfortunately but it looked to be even bigger than the last player wise.   I finally got the hassle with my written off Honda Prelude sorted in Novem

Well, why not eh

Hey all, Yup, time for me to jump aboard the blog bandwagon. That is having finally got round to actually asking for one (Cheers Arnie), perhaps aptly close to the start of a new year.   I'll avoid the probably obvious starter of a recap of the year’s events in relation to me, other than to say that 2006 almost put a complete damper on my airsofting due to serious cash issues and the VCRB. Thankfully for now at least both money and the state of airsoft in the UK both seem to be looking more p

Bingo !

Now there's a surprise - not.   As predicted, today the idea of buying the car I was all excited about went down the poop chute.   To keep it brief, the car was not what the dealer said it was. I told him this, which was at first met with a flat "you are wrong". After a little back and forward "oh no it isn’t" / "oh yes it is" type banter, I finished with me explaining it wasn't and explaining why.   Anyhoo, I left somewhat ###### off that we drove ~70miles to find that out, but to be fair

The end is nigh

Well, only the end of my break from uni for the Christmas holidays, not the end of the world obviously!   Sadly, this end does mark the point at which three bad things come back into my life: - Early morning lectures - Dissertation work - January exams period   I can deal with the first one, though I really am not the morning type of person. The second one I’m not so happy with. To keep it short, my project hasn’t really gone anywhere in 12 weeks, which is worrying really given that is a

MP5K - sorta complete, but not that sweet

As mentioned in prior posts (forums & blog entries), I bought myself an MP5K along with some upgrade bits and a recently released gen2 CA metal body. The upgrade parts were for the most part excellent, though I would probably steer clear of the Guarder metal bushings in the future. They are well made but are not particularly tight fitting (At least in this TM V3 gearbox).   Anyway, onto the main point of this entry - feedback on the CA metal body for those interested. Overview - not at all

Welcome to 2007

Morning, or should that be afternoon   Last night proved once again that a new years eve house party can be both a bit pants and also very funny, the bonus being alcohol isn’t a rip off and you don’t need to get the inevitably expensive and large rounds in either   It has to be said that fortunately I’m not feeling too bad thanks to the choice of rum & coke for the evening, despite drinking about 2/3 of the bottle. I doubt the same will be said for some of you this morning   More imp

Airsoft ?

So yeah, things have been a little slack on the blog update front after the initial flurry. That sparseness comes mainly courtesy of exam revision taking up a fair amount of my time over the last week (and set to do so for the next few days) before the last one this coming Tuesday. As usual it has been precisely 0% fun, but it has to be done and 2/3 over and sorted isn’t all that bad.   Airsoft/beer token wise, next week should technically be the end of the temp job contract I started back on

I don't think I've been that busy...ever

Just a quickie to admit I’ve been extremely slack on the updates lately, though that’ll change in a week or so as I finish uni as of this Thursday and will probably be bored within a week or two of doing so.   Still, it’s a packed time ahead even with uni taking a more than welcome farewell.   Today: Exam Tomorrow: Exam, followed by silly amounts of beer and fun Friday: P/T Work (8 hrs, likely with a hangover from hell) Sat: P/T Work 9 hrs Sun: P/T Work 6 hrs Mon: P/T Work 9 hrs

Been a while

Yeah, I've not really paid much attention to this I must admit.   Anyhoo, since the last entry main events / goings on include:   Graduation ball - It was a decent night though I was pretty ill and struggled through the hours I was there thanks to a few pints before having to admit defeat early on in the night. It was a bit of a shame I had to leave early but I'm glad I got some use of the £40 suit rental I'd stumped up for it. It was probably the last time I saw some peeps from uni too s

Krylon is go !

That’s right, soon my VSR will once again be krylon coated and at a state where it is almost finished - I’d say it is about 80% complete at the moment.   Having given up with dpmhi due to email contact issues and their being out of stock of both OD & khaki krylon for some time, Airsoft World (*albatross*) had my custom and four cans of krylon are currently winging their way to me courtesy of next day postage.   The choices I now have to make are a bit more tricky, namely whether or not t

Festival fun

So now I've recovered slightly, had my first shower & shave in 5 days, slept for an uninterupted 8 hours in a proper bed & downed a decent meal alongside a drink that wasn't alcoholic - what a *fruitcage* amazing weekend.   For those of you thinking "what's he on about?" I speak of the Isle of Wight festival.   Because I'm feeling lazy, I'll keep things short ish, but needless to say I spent from Thursday afternoon til very very early this morning over there.   Highlights includ

Huh ? Where did 10 days go...

As is often said, time flies when you are having fun.   The thing is, I'm really not having fun currently, and it is still rapidly passing by without me really noticing from one day to the next. The dissertation is due in 6 days time (probably technically almost 5 by the time I finish writing this) and today my 1st draft got a little ripped apart. I’m all for constructive criticism and the benefits of being told what to do to get a better mark, but my god when a fair few hours work gets slate

Im selling some things, please buy them !

Help me boost car buying funds, buy stuff I’m selling   Accu-shot BT04 Monopod   TAS (PPM) Medial First-aid Pouch (MFP) in OD   Nothing like a little bit of advertising, not that I doubt my blog is holding much of your attention   In all seriousness though, if anyone is interested in buying either, it would be most handy. The reason in a bit more detail being, I am currently looking at a particular car. I was reasonably content with looking at the SE version. A limited edition then pop

Lining up for disappointment ?

Today has been a bit different to usual.   For starters I didn't stay in bed until sometime in the later hours of the afternoon, a rarity for me as I am very much the anti morning person. A lack of lectures on a Friday now really does encourage this.   I took a trip to the bank, and took out £500. I then took a trip to the post office, and took out £2k. (Cue an odd look at the PO lady and a polite request for an envelope when she went to hand 100 20's bundled but otherwise uncontained acros

'K prep continues

Once again Ehobby impress me.   Previous orders with them have taken the approximate listed 7 or so day period for delivery. That being without the offered "expedited" shipping option as I haven’t yet bought anything from them I have needed that urgently (Oh and because I’m trying to save money where possible for a change )   The order placed about a fortnight ago gave me quite the surprise when it turned up only two days after shipping. It certainly seemed that the postal service timings h

Sell one thing to buy another...

Having spent the last 6 months gradually modding my VSR to the uber rifle that it was, I now find myself bagging up various bits and pieces of it to post off to the far corners of the UK. Go figure.   In truth, it isn't a surprise. Ever since I found I couldn't help but keep spending money on it in some meaningless search for perfection & ultimate coolness, I said to myself that I'd only probably stop if I just sold it altogether. The pending new car (Which really does need some shiny OZ a

Contradiction ; Busy & Lazy

Well, it has been a while since I made an entry after the regular updates, time for another!   I have now been enjoying my new motor for a couple of weeks. A 1992 K reg Honda Prelude 2.0i. I'll get some pics when I have an opportunity to take them in a decent place and not look like a total ###### doing it. I love my car but some people just don't understand hehe.   It ain't no VTEC sadly, but it still shifts its nice looking *albartroth* and doesn't cost another few hundred quid on the

Glad that's over

The dissertation was in as of wed afternoon, just before I was about to kill myself. Good good.   I went out last night and got really quite drunk to celebrate getting rid of said dissertation. That was a good laugh.   I have an entire work free weekend to do sweet f/a. Oh yes !   I can at last have a lie in after probably a month plus of not having had more than 1 day up later than 8am. Superb.   It's nice to have life back as it should be   Now, only 2 exams and about a month

Airsoft, money & cars - me likey !

Could it get much better. (Well yes of course it always could, the bikini clad ladies, mansion and grove of money trees are still absent, but read on.)   The first of my recent spends on airsoft gear funded from my VSR sales arrived today.   Once again the legend that is eHobby Asia delivers in times that are more than impressive given the cheap postage costs involved. 3 more G&P MP5 mids now make me all ready to rock for skirmishing the K in the coming weeks, when I will hopefully eit

Worthy of the cash ? - You bet !

Why the hell didn't I buy one of these earlier?!   Of course, I probably don't need to tell those of you that already own a dremel how good or useful they are, but if you are a fan of modding etc this is the tool you need. It kicks the *albartroth* off hand tools for speed, flexibility and ease of use.   It'll take me a while to learn the skills (It's been a few years since I used tools back at GCSE resistant materials!) but I can now have a proper go at fitting this CA metal body for the
