You crazy ######....

He actually went and did it. Cheers Arnie.   Welcome, one and all, to the adventures of Ghost and Hardcore. For the purposes of this blog, anything written in Italics is Hardcore, anything plain text is me.   Lets see, what I've been up to.....   1) Went skirmishing on Sunday. Took Hardcore's brother (Caboose on the forum) for his second skirmish and team evalutation, and also wanted to test out the woodland potential of my FWP rig.   (Authors note - FWP stands for Festooned With Pis

White Van Man

I started my new job today - it's a five week T.I.E. tour as a Soundie/Road manager for Raenbow Productions.   To be honest, the job itself I could do in my sleep, and I seem to be impressing as I've replace their rather dilapidated sound kit with my own and the quality of the show has gone up as a result. As it stands, the job is not the subject of the blog.   The subject is the white van I picked up this morning. It's a Fiat Ducato mid base, so it's actually deceptively large. And people

Warning - this post contains Emo-esque ranting....

I still can't quite get my head in gear about the fact that in five weeks I will be heading out to sunny greece for six months. It somehow does not seem real.   More than anything I'm kicking myself about the life of the pseudo-hermit I've lived for the past year. I'm having SO MUCH FUN with the new job and the recently enhanced social life that I'm almost wishing I wasn't going - when I applied for the Greece job I didn't really feel like I had much holding me in Glasgow except Jo and now I'

The sheer stupidity boggles my mind....

Ok, so basically I nearly fed someone their P90 today.   I attended a Glasgow 'shindig' for fans of Serenity/Firefly and a bunch of people including myself went in costume.   One of the regular groups from the convention circuit is the 'Reaver Hunters' and a bunch of them showed up, carry various airsoft weapons, one of which is a tricked out p90. Whilst I'm talking to the owner, I notice that it's got a full hi-cap in it. I ask politely if I can have a fondle of the gun, and whilst doing

The London Job - Pre Op Status

I spent a chunk of today figuring out exactly what I was packing/not packing for my ten day jaunt to London.   After much shifting around, I've managed to get everything I need into the necessary bags. The train and bus tickets are all booked, the people I'm staying with have all confirmed I'm cool to stay on their floor for however long it is. I love having freinds in the big smoke, it means I never have to worry about hotel fees.   The big question I'm pondering now, is do I have enough

Shotguns, and why I love them...

I have just purchased a Maruzen M870 shotgun.   It looks like this.     It is horribly impractical to skirmish with due to the fact that it ejects shells, and I will probably only carry it as my 'marshalls gun' for making test shots.   However.....it is possible the gun that has made me smile the most out of my entire collection.   Shotguns always make me go a bit giddy - even with the inherent disadvantages of them in a skirmish environment I still will run around using my SPAS

S&W 500 - Initial impressions.

To fill in a little background, I have been buying up a bunch of guns recently - forsaking other forms of entertainment in order to purchase all the guns I want before the VCR death knell sounds.   Having got a stock SMG, an upgraded 'sniper' rifle, an assault rifle, a grenade launcher, and a whole ton of pistols (including a mac 11) I pretty much had everything I wanted. Barring winning the lottery and getting the 3P minigun, my collection was complete.   Except for a skirmishable revolv

Roleplaying an X-man....

Pic created here and is based off the uniforms in the 'New X-men' storyline.   You know, it's really scary when you realise that what you've been doing the past term isn't roleplaying.   Tonight was roleplaying.   Showed up at Gugs early and played some munchkin until the rest of the group show up. Over a couple of cans of fiz and some munchies, Rich helps me batter together a character. I already knew what my background was gonna be as per my older post, but I wasn't sure just how the

Op TLJ: Fallout Basildon - Pre Action Report

Well, we got to London safely after ten hours of bus ride. Spent most of it asleep, but next time I think I'm gonna take the train.   Got pikced up by HKChick and Situpking at Victoria station, and after lugging four bags of kit through the underground we arrived in Buckhurst Hill. We have a quiet pint with Basho and Trip, and discuss the plans for the rest of the week before bouncing to Southend and HKChicks place.   First point of action is to unload the kit and check that it is 1) all t

OH MY GOD, MY EARS!

Note to self;   Unloading tripwire mines is hazardous. It is easier and better just to set the bastards off before you come home from a skirmish.   I cannot hear out of my left ear and I can *fruitcage*-ing taste cordite.

Now I have a machine gun. Ho. Ho. Ho.

Hokay, so......   First update in a while. I'm back in the UK, and have been for the last month. All in all, Greece was *beep*. No airsoft. No Dr Pepper. No cute girlfriend. Boss was an ######. Night in greek jail, followed by voluntary exit from country after boss refused to organise work permit, preferring instead to hire another sucker. Blew most of my savings from the job returning.   All in all, not cool. However, I now have a new job and I am slowly building up my savings again, whi

It's complete.....

My S&W 500 Revolver showed up today.   I shall be posting a review of it once I have skirmished with it, but let me just say from initial impressions that this is a silly, silly revolver and it makes me grin like a loon just holding it.

I wanna blow *beep* up...

Hopefully my flatmates Airsoft Scotland and Zero-one orders will show up tomorrow, as I've tacked a few things on myself - specifically 10 electric mk5's and a box of blanks for my tripwire mine.   Should be a laugh at fallout in 2 weeks   Will report on their effectiveness once they arrive.

I am an Airsofter....

I am an airsofter.   Apparently that makes me several things. 1) A Sad loser with no life.   Well, I dunno about that one. I mean, it gets me out of the house to meet people with simlar interests, which is surely the point of any hobby 2) A wannabe soldier (AKA WALT)   I don't want to be a soldier, and I don't airsoft to pretend to be one. I'm playing a sport that simulates combat, so obviously some kit will show resemblance to that used by a soldier. I'd never join the army,

Geardo:-What does the term mean to me?

Well, I've been of two minds about writing this blog. Mainly because it seems to be a hotly contested topic - I've already seen flame wars kick off because of it.   Firstly, I'd like to address a point. I like gear. I own a fair chunk of it. I own more than one 'loadout' and at least five separate types of camo BDU.   However, I would not class myself as geardo.   During an IRC discussion with Marlowe, he says "Yes, yes you are a geardo, and so am I. We both create themed loadouts, just

FOR THE GLORY OF KHORNE!

Ok, so I went to London for a job interview for a DJ gig out in Greece. I have apparently got the job, but I'm not counting my chickens till I have something in writing. Keep your fingers crossed for me.   Electrowerkz was fun, despite a minor incident where I got shot in the throat - wierd angle and it got past my neoprene, and my throat went into spasms. I couldn't breath in enough air through my neoprene mask to stop the spasms and ended up in a corner quietly hyperventilating until Janno

FIRE IN THE HOLE!

Ok, so the Spectrum maroons showed up.   They are a little different from what I'm used to, the casing made of a thin soft plastic instead of cardboard. This makes me a little concerned for the safety of any user/victim who might be within 'kill' distance so I set up my usual test.   This is not that scientific, but it provides a good indicator of the possible 'fallout' of a pyrotechnic device. Basically, I set up a device, tool up in dpm trousers, a t-shirt and eye protection, and set one

Final Showdown....

The two of them moved into the final room and took cover behind a set of barricades as a hail of fire greeted them.   "Whatever happens next, stay down, you understand?" Ghost hissed to Havoc. He raised his voice.   "Afternoon, Marlowe! Finally lost the plot, have we?"   The kamysh clad figure laughed maniacally.   "Always with the bravado, Ghost. Will you not learn to respect your betters?"   "Well, that's a matter of opinion." Ghost shot back. "What say you we settle this like m

Electrowerkz - After Action Report

After Action Report.   Arrived on site at 18:15. Fortunately the body armour that Hardcore bought me arrived this morning, so I was well protected. It WAS necessary.   Start bombing up. I am less than pleased when due to clumsiness I drop my m4, snapping the stock off. After a brief moment of sheer seething anger, I walk out for five minutes to calm down. I come back, and after using an entire roll of electrical tape I manage to bodge the gun into a semblance of working order.   I get

Dual guns 101

To Dual Gun you must: Abandon the natural Isometric firing stance. Learn to fire without a supporting hand. (one handed firing) Learn to quick index the front sights of not only 1 gun but now 2. Relearn to effectively place shots. Relearn how to coordinate your actions as now you have two weapons rather than 1. Develop Coordination in the weak hand as to make sure the shots from that weapon isn't just fired to scare people.   If you think it's too much effort, that's fine - but do

Dark Angel XIX.....

Recently, I've been playing at Electrowekrz a lot. I'm sure most board members will be aware that at EW, which is the most intense CQB site in the country, there is a team called the Dark Angels.   The Dark Angels have a deserved reputation for being hardcore and very very good. They are at present not accepting auditions, you have to be 'recruited' by an existing member.   I showed up tuesday last and got introduced to Lex, Darkangel 1. We chatted for a bit, and then he casually says "Oh,

Buying gucci kit.....I feel like such a hypocrite

I have just bought a Blackhawk Omega elite Crossdraw vest.   And I hate to say it.....but it ###### all over any previous vest I've worn from about thirty stories up.   My thinking behind this vest was for travellling to away games where I'm running one rifle and one sidearm, but also because my viper vest has recently starting to grate on me. Paritcularly when I've been getting very hot in game, the material chafes.   Not so the blackhawk. It's lovely to wear, easy to adjust, holster i

Back once again like a renegade master....

Well, thanks to a necessary trip to london for an interview for a DJ gig out in Greece, I shall once again be paying a visit to Electrowerkz.   I'm doubly glad cos Situpking and HKChick are gonna be there - I was happy going on my own and hooking up with a few of the guys I played with last time I was down, but having the two of them there will mean it's even more fun.   You know, I never really talked about how good it was last time - the after action report didn't really cover stuff li
