The BBQ man cometh

Ah yes, barbecue season.

My first barbecue of the year, however, is a rather grander affair than usual - so far it involves about 40-50 people, we have two spit roasted pigs (and I've made the full-size spit roast myself and welded it all up with my Brother just for the purpose!) for food, a custom-made brick barbecue at about 4-foot in height just for the spit roast, 4 smaller barbecues to cook all the steaks, kebabs, burgers and fish, 2 marquees, a bunch of high-powered halogen lights for the evening and a whole array of other stuff that has, altogether, cost me around £700.

And on top of all that its gonna be (as far as I know) the first ever 24-Hour-Barbecue in this part of the world biggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gif and I'm proud to call it my own.

With a bit of luck and a bit more careful planning I should have some pictures up of it all, but at the moment just making sure this shindig happens properly and gets off the ground smoothly enough is priority #1 in the 'hippy life, which goes some way to explaining the lack of recent activity on this here blog. As far as everything else goes I haven;t bought any guns for weeks now ohmy.gif but had a great skirmish last Sunday where I yet again proved people wrong by getting 5 kills with a shotgun cool.gif just goes to show its not just what you got but what you do with it that counts wink.gif

The barbecue being my main concern though, so far I can only say that I bloody well hope I've laid in enough booze; so far we only have 2 72-pint firkins of real ale and a couple of 24-packs of lager. Its gonna be needing a hellofa lot more beer, not to mention the paddling pool to put it all in and the 50Kg of ice to fill the pool up first biggrin.gif and the spirits for the punch and the wine 9already taken care of thank god) plus any other assorted boozery I can think of/persuade people to bring along.

Then there's the PA and the guy coming down to do all the music all day (we start cooking at 9:00am - them piggies take about 8-10 hours to cook!!), and the acoustic guys coming along to play in the evening, plus the DJ who should be taking the morning shift until about 5:00am; right in time for the sunrise; and after that I guess we'll really have to hope the beer lasts because otherwise people will have been on the punch for hours already, and the only punchbowl I could find holds about 12 litres :whistles: rolleyes.gif

As you can see, its going to be quite spectacular concert.gifconcert.gif

Hmm.... you say you need a paddling pool eh? How big d'you need?

my father runs a small business which rents/sells *large* 'paddling pools', usable for anything from fish storage to baptisms. PM me. smile.gif
