After Action Report.
Arrived on site at 18:15. Fortunately the body armour that Hardcore bought me arrived this morning, so I was well protected. It WAS necessary.
Start bombing up. I am less than pleased when due to clumsiness I drop my m4, snapping the stock off. After a brief moment of sheer seething anger, I walk out for five minutes to calm down. I come back, and after using an entire roll of electrical tape I manage to bodge the gun into a semblance of working order.
I get a few people coming up to say hello, Big D and Xaero introduce themselves, and I finish getting myself together. Andy shows up, gives the safety brief, and we're into the first game.
This is Speedball, on the top floor. We get hammered, losing three nil, mainly due the unbalanced nature of the cover dispersal. However, it was still a hell of a lot of fun, and I actually ended up running out of ammo. This NEVER happens to me.
Next game is on the bottom floor. The objective is to take the crows nest and the plane, and is semi-auto only. I run the m4, and the two hi-capas and one spare mag as I've not had time to reload everything after speedball. We take the crows nest fairly easily, and then I leave my m4 behind and make a dash for the plane. I am joined fairly quickly by a second player with a Spas-12. We then proceed to hold it from all attackers for the remainder of the game.
Then comes 'get off my land'. Again I run the m4 with box mag and the full pistol rig. Me, Xaero, and a few others (sorry guys, I don't remember the names) DOMINATE the top floor, despite being thrown off several times under the question rules. The main reason behind this is the lackdasical way the greens attacked - if they'd come into the room agressively after we got thrown off the floor, we wouldn't have been able to come in again spraying and take it back again almost immediately. Plus points go to Chong the marshall here - my technique for entering the room is to fully wind my box mag, and start spraying before I come in and 'slice the pie' round the frame, so I'm constantly firing in an arc as I enter. Upon realising that that's what I'm doing, he drops to his haunches to give me a clear arc. +1.
At the end of the game, black hold three floors, and we have ten minutes to re-arm before 'hunt the students' - a group of stundetns from imperial college get taken off, given a big bomb prop and orange armbands, and told to take it to the top floor. The greens and the blacks then attack from either stairwell, and we once again dominate due to agressive tactics and judicious application of 'support' weapons. By attacking the bottom and middle floors with small fast four man teams, we prevented the greens from even entering play on the lower levels by hammering the entrance doors with concentrated fire. After a fierce firefight on the upper level, we also manage to take posession of the bomb and wipe out the students.
There was one hairy moment in that game, where the students had respawned and come down the stairs. They took out a group of people on the way down, who walked past them to the spawn. They come round the corner to find six people with their weapons lowered.

I gotta say I had an amazing night at EW. The reputation the site has as intense is well deserved, but sometimes I think people confuse intense with 'I'm going home covered in welts', and that simply wasn't the case. I played in a t-shirt under my armour, and I have ONE hit hard enough to bleed, on my upper arm, from a close range pistol shot. Full marks to Andy (Janno) and the rest of the marshalling team for a brilliant, well run and well executed night.
I don't care if I have to travel 300 miles on a megabus to get here, I'm coming back. And I shall bring more moscarts......
