Small Update: Grip Tape and Slide Catch
So the project is progressing nicely.....today saw the arrival of TruGrip pre-cut grip tape. For $30 you get a pack of 5 and the application is simply cleaning the grip with alchohol wipe the package comes with to get rid of the oil from your hand, then peel off the backing of the tape and apply it by lining up the edge and stretching it slightly over to the other side. The texture is what I'd say being equivelent of ~150 grit sandpaper, but maybe slightly less sharp so you can use it alright without glove. And it sure is less slippery than the stock plastic grip.
Note the updated slide catch. I've been wanting to get one with the extended slim handle, since the Nova's 1911 slidecatch don't work that well on 2011 , I track down a Nine-Ball version and used that instead. No problem with it and it is a drop in fit. Only shame is that it is probably a pot-metal piece with some sort of coating on it, so it doesn't feel as good as a steel/stainless steel one....I've also sanded and polish the mag release.
Next update should be the C-more sight. Going to drill and tap the AS frame for that, and maybe some lightening of the plastic slide to see how that works out...
