“Gentlemen, ladies, thank you for convening so quickly. Time is of the essence so I’ll get straight to the point.
An overview on what led to the current situation in Kadjikistan.
In the coup of January 2010, General Mahktar seized control of Kadjikistan. Deposed Prime Minister Jubal escaped and is currently exiled under the protection of the French in Paris. Prime Minster Jubal’s stance against the increasing number of terrorist training camps in remote areas bordering Pakistan and his desire to improve his country’s standing with western nations led to the coup, which was backed by the majority of the Kadjiki armed forces.
Although sanctions have been in place for almost twelve months, the Kadjiki Army has grown in strength and has been providing training and weapons to local militia and has confirmed links with Al-Qaida.
Yesterday’s General Election in Kadjikistan was certainly going to be a close run contest with Mahktar wishing to gain credibility and Jubal wishing to return to his previous position.
But just eight hours ago, four UN observers were brutally murdered by the Kadjiki Elite Guard after it was found that the election was being rigged by local militia loyal to General Mahktar.
Two French reporters that witnessed the execution escaped to the grounds of the French Embassy in Balcar City where they were shot by Kadjiki regulars before they could get to safety. French forces returned fire and a fierce fire fight broke out which eventually led to the destruction of the French embassy. Apparently there were no survivors!
Almost immediately, Kadjiki forces surrounded both the American and British embassies, and managed to jam or cut off all embassy communications.
However, some communication was possible….
The following is a transcript of a SKY News report that was broadcast one hour ago. This confirms our own intelligence reports from ‘in country’.
“This is Tricia Wray reporting live for Sky News 24 by satellite phone from within the British embassy in Balcar City, Kadjikistan. We reached the safety of the embassy compound five hours ago; since then both this and the American embassy have been surrounded by General Mahktar’s Elite guard. We have heard reports that a number of British subjects have been kidnapped and others that showed resistance have been killed. At the embassy there have been just a few exchanges of gunfire and there is now a tense standoff as the Elite guard wait for reinforcements. Tensions are high and all staff that have any form of arms training have been issued fire arms.
I have spoken to a colleague from CNN trapped at the American embassy, who reports that they are in the same position but are currently under heavy fire and have taken 2 casualties , one of which was the fatal shooting of the American Ambassador who had bravely stepped into the street to call for calm and dialogue.
The CNN reporter stated that he had heard from his source that both American and British troops are on route from Afghanistan but we have been unable to confirm this.
For now it’s all fairly quiet here but no one is thinking that will last for long. The embassy security staff believe that it is only a matter of time before……..”
The broadcast ceased at this point.
We have had no further communications with either the British or American embassies, though we do have a SATCOM link to some resources on the ground.
We need to act immediately if we are to rescue the Ambassador and his staff, but as we don’t have UN agreement we cannot simply go in, as this would been seen as an invasion.
Our only option is a covert extraction using a combination of British and American Special forces who will be combined with a larger contingent of PMC’s based just over the border in Pakistan.
We are assembling resources at Brize Norton for immediate despatch with the intention of implementing Black Angel……….
