  1. We have an upgrade request in for a new box running the latest software and hardware but I am still waiting for a date for it to happen. There's simply a limit on how much one box can do of this generation and a have reached it.when the backup routine runs we simply run out of steam.
  2. Never heard of it until you mentioned it. I've had a look and the reviews for it don't appear to be great. My only real concern for any addon like this is the security issues it may bring (allowing third party software access to login/logout facilities). We have Tapatalk and a mobile skin enabled that is pretty swish, does this bring extra facilities to the table that users need? If so I'll enable it.
  3. I am always happy to get feedback or hear ideas. if they are wanted my the majority and make sense I will sort em.
  4. For some reason the mobile skin was disabled, I'm looking for an archive mode or "printable" template that we can add as a feature.
  5. I have hunted high and low for the "posts per page" option as it did exist, I've now found after much research (there are hundreds of settings for this forum software) that's it a feature they've removed in the new version of the forum. Text only view could be facilitiated by a version of the mobile phone skin that'd just give a printable view if needed.
  6. Sorry for no reply, this is most likely linked ot our high load issues. Is this now working for you?
  7. The backup process runs in the morning, that should be the only thing to slow the forum down at the moment.
  8. Thanks for letting me know. I log in and keep an eye on it manually at the moment. Occasional mysql restarts seem to speed things up. I may tweak it a bit more to reduce the backup loading. We have an order in for an upgrade like I mentioned. I'll see if there's an ETA yet.
  9. I've restarted some services to free up some memory which should help.
  10. It's not you, we are runnng slower than we should be. We have instigated a new server move but that's going to take a few days. I'm going to restart the mysql server to free up some memory now. Effectively we're outstripping what we run on at the moment and need to tweak things to speed things up until we move boxes.
  11. The backup routine is still running at the moment, I'm still archiving topics/posts at the moment to reduce our overhead to speed up backup time. It's a slow process but it is chugging along.
  12. I've also updated the search indexes and restarted the search tool as that was dead. Let me know if search results don't update or it stops working and I can look at it again.
  13. It seems to be set to DDMMYY at the moment, is it different on there somewhere?
  14. I've sorted out our latest update. this includes the latest software version. We're also busy archiving all of our older posts, however we have around 1.7million to archive. It's going to take some time... The archive process moves older posts into another database table to reduce load. However it will take some time to complete this process (a good few days). Once complete we should have everything running a good bit faster. We also have everything booked to move to a new server running the latest hardware, we tend to do this every 2-3 years to keep up with the latest trends and to ke
  15. We are now running the latest forum version which should help with speed. I'm just logging into the new version to look at any issues and tweak things for us.
  16. I have booked an upgrade of the forum software as well to the latest version. This includes the latest performance updates and the new speed improvements which will archive off older posts into a different database. There should be no difference when it comes ot usability but it should improve speed no end apparently. This is the 3.3.2 update. I hope they'll let me book it for tomorrow or Monday.
  17. I've now upgraded the Tapatalk mod to the latest version (3) you should get some new features for it if you use the mod on your phone.
  18. Yeah that's the backup cycle period, I haven't altered it as to do so would mean we had no backups. Until I add a fix the 4am-5am period (GMT) will be slow.
  19. I'm keeping an eye on it. I'm still waiting for the techs to come back to me with some advice regaridng backup methods and increasing speed for us all. I'm going to run the IPB 3.3.1 upgrade next week too which should help us majorly
  20. I tried it myself and it works, however that doesn't prove much. Does the follow button work in other topics for you?
  21. Can't change you to what youi requested as it is taken. Next nearest applied for you. One of the wonders of IPB are the number of features, one of the drawbacks is finding them in the darn admin panel. We have disabled name changing as it is open to abuse. If there is a way to restrict the use and allow it I will enable it, however I would have to be confident that it couldn't be mucked around with. ...now if I could just find the feature you describe in the myriad of options it'd help.
  22. There's some good points raised, but littl eI can add to the above. If there's a list of now redundant retailers, let me know and I'l remove their forums sections. I've just got rid of OnPatrol for example.
  23. Okay, some results, the issue isn't us (not all of it). The hosting firm are having issues with their backbone provider (the cables that connect them to the world) and this is causing the drop outs. This is also causing other issues to to loading spikes. the problem is ongoing, as in it's being dealt with, and we should get a result shortly. We may wel be going to a co-location solution to reduce load and avoid this issue in the future. As soon as I know more I'l stick more up.
  24. There was a CPU spike today and some connectivity issues I've noticed today, the CPU load for a lot of these period was low though so I suspect there's an issue outside of our box possibly on a router. It's been added to our ticket.
