  1. On the positive side, it might be argued that the forums would all die in very short order if the same questions weren't repeated over and over. At least there's always the potential for discussions to go in new directions when a topic is revisited.
  2. Must admit, it seems as though Star have kept the price low by making the exterior of the gun rather "cheap & nasty". Fingers crossed that the internals are properly made. Despite the impressive way it looks I reckon I'd be disappointed to own one of these cos there just wouldn't be enough stuff to "twiddle with". If only airsoft was a bit more organised, this looks like it'd make a great SAW hire-gun for sites. The trigger is a great example of what I'm talking about. It has a REALLY sharp internal corner at the top and I gotta say that I'd be concerned that it might break if
  3. Surely a thread (in off-topic) where anybody that interested could post snippets would suffice?
  4. I want a sub-forum where I can post requests for all the assistance and/or parts and gear that I need. It'll be so much more convenient than forcing me to read through all the appropriate forums. After all, my time is far too valuable for that. If Arnie doesn't mind, maybe he could see his way to setting one up for Sledge too?
  5. No. Maybe a sticky thread, if you must. A whole forum devoted to the art of slopping a bit of paint onto a gun?
  6. Yeah... Oddly enough, I only noticed this when I saw "0 new messages" shown and 2 new messages in my inbox. Once I read them I was back to -2 again. Stuff like this always gives me the heeby jeebies cos it's often a sign of database corruption (or a rift in the matrix). Both are usually bad things.
  7. FWIW, I currently appear to have -2 messages in my PM inbox. Just wondering how it happened. Somebody send me messages which got deleted before I opened them or summat? Not the end of the world but it's kinda bugging me.
  8. It looks like it was designed by Stevie Wonder.
  9. You sure? Check out stuff like power to weight ratios and final drive ratios on your average american car. Sure, they're big engines but something designed to rev to 3500 RPM and attached to an automatic transmission is not gonna give you the performance that 300BHP suggests it should. [edit] And, Hartley... what a load of cobblers. "The Fireblade is too forgiving"??? I'm not really sure how the R1 or ZX10 are superior to the Fireblade but check out stuff like the wheelbase and the head angle. The Fartblood was always streets ahead of the competition for handling. In practical
  10. I know this is old but I saw it and had to comment... What a crock of ######. Yes, a lot of "yank tanks" have 300BHP but they also weigh about 4 tonnes, have suspension filled with syrup, and the idea of a manual gearbox is a novelty at best. You can have a 300BHP car with a low-geared 2 or 3 speed auto transmission and it'll be no faster than a diesel Fester. Pretty much the only reason cars such as this are allowed to continue existing is because US petrol prices are so cheap so manufacturers don't need to evolve new technology. See how long it'd last if you were paying $
  11. Couldn't we just take this opportunity to actually ban Havoc?
  12. Unlikely. I am pretty sure if Big Boy had sold that scope and the buyer said "Hey! these mounts don't fit my gun" then Big Boys response would have been "Odd. Fitted mine." Is that the sort of seller we want to allow in our forums?
  13. You misunderstand me. 10:36pm: Big Boy posts to say he can't fit his scope to his VRS10 10:51pm: Big Boy decides he's getting a different scope. It's not an hour. It's 15 minutes. This is the kind of bi-polar behaviour that wastes peoples time and wears out their patience on the forums. You're right that the other scope was up for sale before-hand. This would suggest that he's had 2 weeks to try to make it fit without success. Frankly, I'm only glad that nobody was stupid enough to buy this scope from him during that time. Direct question: Do you think "Fits mos
  14. Must admit, I often find that the rep system is abused and yet I also feel like I'm wasting the Mod's time by contacting them to sort things out. My main gripe is that when somebody acts like a knob, and I -ve rep them for it, a bunch of the persons mates will scuttle around and give +ve rep points to soothe the poor little soldiers nerves. Nett result: Person does something disagreeable and their rep goes UP, not down. Let's call a spade a spade though. We're talking about Big Boy and the guy deserves everything he gets. He's like a bad smell or an annoying insect buzzi
  15. I was just having a look at the AIRSOFT MAP and I noticed that BB-Toyz is missing. I clicked on the ADD A LINK thing and I considered typing in the co-ordinates of BBT but, TBH, I didn't want to risk screwing it up. Would I be right in thinking that all I need to do is type in the coordinates shown at the bottom of the pic to put a blob where the red box is on the map? I wouldn't mind buggering about with my own pin but I didn't really want to muck about when submitting something on behalf of somebody else. Thanks.
  16. I was gonna say something about the "brow of a hill" but I guess the topic just left me behind.
  17. I suppose I could give it a try but feel free to give me a kick up the *albartroth* and/or take it off me again if I don't write enough in it.
  18. I played with the zoomy map thing which was quite impressive then, when I clicked "manage my pin" I got the same old map but it now works. Woot!
  19. TBH, those pictures are kinda pointless IMO. They don't prove anything other than somebody decided to paint a gun. What I'm looking for is evidence of soldiers painting their guns. As has been said, the vast majority of squaddies simply wouldn't be ALLOWED to paint their gun. There's a couple of pic's posted by expvideo, which do appear to be real soldiers with cammo-painted guns although at least one of the two is a training picture.
  20. Erm, that's all well and good but my point was more that you don't see real soldiers doing it rather than any debate about the effectiveness. Very true. As you say, spraying tan and brown (or whatever) on a gun is just gonna look like a light brown gun-shaped blob from more than 50m away. I suppose it might be some use in a desert environment but no better than a quick slap of tan emulsion. To digress slightly, maybe it's just me but I gotta say that I think the digital cammo works well but, and this has kinda freaked me out, I find it works well because it seems to produce
  21. Yep. I can see that. It's the same here with hunting rifles. Some of them get painted with detailed, realistic foliage. Basically, I just want to know if any squaddie has ever gone to the trouble of painting his rifle in a detailed cammo pattern. It just doesn't seem like the sort of thing a squaddie would bother to do.
