Hi Gents! Would like to introduce and put up pictures of an Estonian, but also international airsoft mil-sim event.
If you should be interested coming as well next year, then look for the info from my sig. Next one should be 2010 End of August or September.
Quick Intro:
NOT A SPECIAL FORCES MATERIAL?NO NEED TO REGISTER
www.softerna.ee
SOFTERNA is 36h nonstop recce and patrol mil-sim airsoft event, where 10-12 recce units of 2...3 operatives compete in different soldier and infantry combat skills and avoid the mobilised counteraction which is scattered throughout the combat zone.
Being outnumbered and maintaining 100% combat readiness at all times, the recce units must complete different tasks such as shooting exercises, grenade throwing, CQB stages, mine field and obstacle crossing, boating, recce tasks -- anything a spec ops unit would be required to carry out during behind-enemy-lines operation. For those who dear, additional checkpoints are available to collect for a better score, but don't get caught! Concealed movement, camouflage, careful planning and fine-tuned soldier and team skills are the key elements to success.
The event is a continuous airsoft scenario with competition elements. There is no game off until it's all over.
Participating players in the recce units should be experienced in military simulation airsoft, day and night navigation, fit to cover 20-30 kms (13-19 miles) on foot while fully equipped and have necessary gear for self-sustainability in the open terrain.
There's an "Airsoft Soldier" article about SE08 on our webpage http://www.softerna.ee under SE Media. Find out what you missed out last year!
In 2009 the event will be held for the third time. You'll get tired, hungry, wet, deprived of sleep, shot at and you'll love it.
SOFTERNA takes its name from the Erna Raid (http://www.erna.ee), one of the longest, hardest and most exhausting recce and patrol competitions for the military in the world.
Okay so to the main part:
Here is the link for all the great pics: http://softerna.ee/09/index.html NB! All Photos taken by Finnish proffessional guys: Roni and Samu! Respect to them! Also - there was no game off before the finish so all photos are taken whilst the competition was on!
And here are some examples to get you going into the SoftErna link!
A pic from the first shooting stage:
Another one from Task Point "Charlie" shooting stage, no weapon light was allowed, path was marked with lightsticks:
A pic from a bunker which had almost every doorway mined and you had 10mins to gather as much info as possible about enemy maps and such.
Latvian Recce Unit operating through a minefield:
Estonian Recce Unit rapelling over a river:
Final taskpoint "Road Block" with grenade throw and 5-6 metric targets. All had to be shot for time and accuracy.
Also check these pics if still interested: http://www.softerna.ee/FUN/index.html
These pics are from the organizers side. Just fun pics nothing much.
Best regards,
B.

Installed the black H-nub and the stock hopup rubber in the hop unit, it's working fine now, no misfeeds at all.
Cleaning the barrel was also a good idea, I found some grey stuff on the patches.
Despite I cut the Systema M160 back about 2cm, the rifle is pushing 600 fps.
A 20c 11v 1600mah Lipo is cycling the gearbox effortlessly.
I think I'll downgrade to 550fps.
Shooting tests later.
What effective range are you getting and what bb-s using?

Try either the MadBull FISHBONE Black type (Hard one) or then the Guarder 70 black one. They are both OK for the velocity you are running your baby at.
B.
-
Take out the RED Prometheus Hard Type hopup bucking and all your problems will go away.
B.
-
Where on earth can you find G&G M14 standard mags these days? I checked all the bigger retailers in HK and NONE of them carried ANY.
B.
-
My experiences with the MK14 version are:
Under 1000 rounds - broken gearbox shell, broken spur gear, broken 7mm bearings, broken piston due to bad AOE - all stock gearbox parts.
Paint flakes off easy, non steel parts are pretty much pot metal, I have broken 2 safety thingies already just by dismantling the gun lol.
For the money - it is okay. I still would suggest going the Cyma Socom route.
B.
-
With a barrel 70cm long, I have serious doubts pot metal would last. Only steel counts here, and that will prevent cloners from making anything actually useful. At best, you would get a wobbly squeeking rifle.
Not true. I suggest you take a look at some newer china models that are being cloned and the discuss further.
B.
-
When was the last time when you saw a copy of ANY Real Sword product.
True, but how many ppl do you know that want a copy of a Type 97 or whatever.
Not think of this - how many ppl just like you and me would want a cheap SVD just for the kicks of it.
Granted - IF it will be cloned, then with imitation or crappy wood and cheap metal parts, but still - it will have the same internal design. Thus you can swap some thing like hopup rubber, inner barrel etc to get the same performance out of the "to be cloned" RS SVD as of the original.
I mean really - if ppl are shelling out 700 USD for this one, then IT IS A HIT SELLER! Just like the CA M249 was when it came out. Remember what happened then?!
B.
-
So, when will some China company COPY this baby?
I can already see these things selling like hell with a 100-150USD price tag.

I should receive my G&P MK14 Crane Proto Sand version tonight. Gonna post asap after examining it here.

Alright update: DMR build starting today.... All parts except for tbb in, and I found that the tappet spring is a perfect replacement for the trigger spring....
I'll take pictures of everything upon disassembly. When I finish this DMR build and have my primary back together, I plan on finishing this review/writing it for real.
I'll be focusing on upgradeability....
So hows it going?
B.
-
Really want to know about the motor as soon as it arrives.
Besides the gear failure - how did the hopup work and the longer range accuracy. Which weight and brand bb where u using?
If you have ever shot a TM M15 before - did you get similar very long and flat floating bb trajectory with the hopup tuned in?
Best to you,
B.
-
Huh? My safety works fine..... It doesn't require quite as much force to move as the TM does.
But for the price and small niggles I would moist definitely say it is worth it.
Now I am back from gettysburg, so I'll be placing my upgrade parts orders soon (also getting a chrony with the order). I'll do a chrono when it is still stock (also some rudimentary accuracy tests of before and after with excel .25s), a chrono with a rubber change, a chrono with a barrel and rubber change and then finally(edgi barrel, ported, and either a firefly hard bucking and hard nub ort prometheus purple and shredder scs). I'll then replace ALL the internals and see how it holds up (the shell is gonna stay, same with the switch and bearings for the moment, hopefully I'll be able to replace the motor with a magnum)
Hey, How far are you with ordering the chrono and the upgrade parts. Would really like to get some more info about tuning it and test firing with/without the upgrade parts.
Cheers,
Bjorn

Any shooting tests done? How well does it shoot compared to a Marui M14 or Cyma M14.
Also what kind of FPS fluctuation to you get? What FPS does it really comes stock?
B.
-
Yeah NICE! Thanks for the heads up.
Questions: How good is the compression starting from the piston head and ending with the nozzle tip. I know it is not an air-seal nozzle, so how good is it? Comparison to something else?
Next: No bearing spring guide right? Why change the piston head? The G&P standard 3-hole one is pretty good, is it not? Is the cylinder head metal or plastic? What is the FPS stock?
And mainly - how good is the G&P M14 hopup? Is it comparable to the Marui version or is it worse? I can not see it being any better lol.
B.
-
So around 2 days from now right?
Waiting for some more info on the internals, mostly about hopup, since it is the main thing about M14-s.
B.
-
Still, from airsoft stand point the MK14 Proto is pretty much THE assault rifle/DMR role weapon of all needs.
It has rails.
It has a pistol frip.
It accomodates a nice large (lipo) battery.
It should have good quality external AND internal parts.
It is a M14 (best hop of all etc)
Did I say it has everything you would ever want from an assault rifle?
Me searching for funds to buy one NOW, or wait a little for the OD version, pleaaaase.

Just a short review for anyone looking for a small sized but powerful LED flashlight. TBH I did not expect much from this flashlight since it was rather small and well priced compared to Surefire G2 or other a bit bigger, but with similar Lumens flashlight.
So what do you get?
In the package you will find a G&P Scorpion G2 Led flashlight, 2 CR123 batteries and a nice label.
So who cares? Well I do and the 170 lumens strobing in your face says also I do!
The settings of this flashlight are: High, Low, Strobe. If you are on 1 setting more then 1.5 secs the fl will put it into its memory and next time you turn it on the last function will be available. Just click under 1.5 secs to roll into the next function.
Enough of the babbling, lets see some comparison. If anyone has tried a Fenix TK20 flashlight they know that it is good, really good.
Well lets put it to the test.
Left: Fenix TK20 Right: G&P LED G2
Fenix TK20 @ 3m
G&P G2 LED @ 3m
Fenix TK20 @ 1.5m
G&P G2 LED @ 1.5m
So, I must say that for the price this little bugger is a winner from what I see. At longer ranges the G&P G2 LED gives VERY SIMILAR results to the TK20, with the only exception that the TK20 is a natural LED and the G&P is a white Cree? LED.
Any question - shoot!

Question - how much can you get out of the gun FPS wise if the PSI is raised. Do you loose or gain RPM if the PSI is changed?
B.
-
Did you rip the hop-up rubber or crack a nozzle perchance? I could see that as a quick way that could be overlooked t loose a lot of FPS.
And as for my G&P M14, the waiting game continues I ordered it from AA, so its going to take a WHILE to get here
Still havent received yours? Would really like to know if you have any similar problems to the ones that Schaap had.

8mm bearings i believe
Correct!
