Received another small package from the US, this time with a BAD-CASS-FA selector. It works very nicely, but actually required some adjustment to make it work correctly - see below for explanation. A few notes on parts compatibility for people who might be interested in fitting RS parts to their WA/WOC-based GBBR's - most of it is known already, but maybe it'll be handy for someone: - RS receiver extensions (checked DMPS, Vltor) fit both G&P spec and Iron Airsoft (which I believe are Prime spec, or at least similar?) bodies without any issues - RS endplates (DPMS, Noveske) fit both b

The lower internals are stock, carbon steel G&P parts, scavenged from my old first-gen WOC-01. I don't know if they were of better quality than later versions, but i've had zero problems with them over the years. The only part i might have to change eventually is the auto sear, it's getting worn out and doesn't properly interface with the bolt in the Iron Airsoft body - but that's not a priority for me, as the gun clocks way too hot for full auto anyway (i run my GBBR's on CO2). What are the internals like? Any idea about compatibility with WA/G&P AR15's?

Can't see the logo - what QD sling mount is that? I need one for a VTAC Alpha, this is the smallest i've seen so far.

Friend's WOC-based 12" AR15.

Package from the US has arrived - tbh, the chinese MOE stock knockoff seems to be made better than the RS Magpul - less mold injection marks, less glossy polymer etc. Dimensions are exactly the same, i only found one minor difference. The 16" middy upper is almost finished - only missing a gas tube, Gunfighter charging handle (on its way) some drilling to fit the FSP pins, and receiver engravings so that i can pretend it's a BCM . At Brownells the license limit is 100$ worth of "gun parts", without shipping. The only problem is that it's not immediately clear what do they classify as a 'gun part', for example some slings are restricted, but sling mounts are not. Shipping to EU is not that bad, between 10 and 30$ so far, and the customs office let all my packages through without applying VAT or other fees.

No, i didn't have to. The Larue gas block fits under the rail without any modifications, and if you end the gas tube at the barrel nut, as i did, there is no need to mill the rail or barrel nut teeth. You'd only have to do it if you really wanted to insert the tube into the receiver, but it would be a wasted effort, as it's completely invisible when assembled.

I was actually a bit hesistant to try it out at first, but this setup does make a lot of sense, especially with tube rails. And the DD sights are so nicely made and unobtrusive, that i've since used them on all my long guns. Yes and no, you can't put the tube all the way into the receiver without some milling - but it's not visible anyway, so i couldn't be bothered to do it. Also, only some low profile gas blocks will fit due to the lack of a tube channel in the rail.

Here's my new build, 12" AR-15 GBBR: Second approach at a custom-made barrel - this time made of better stainless steel (AISI 316) and overall improved craftsmanship . Got two of those, the 12" with carbine-length gas system (pictured), and a 16" midlength. Still waiting for parts to finish the second upper though. I guess you're spot on regarding random tolerances in airsoft - i remember never having to use any force to put on the different barrel nuts. In fact, one of these uppers is brand new.

That's really strange... I have 2 different G&P GBBR uppers and i've never had any sort of compatibility issues - recently using a Madbull Troy TRX tube, previously KA and generic chinese Larue rails, i also once tried an ancient TM M733 front just to see if it fits (and it does). Maybe the bodies are out of G&P spec? I want to get a RS TRX at some point, wonder if that will fit without any issues...

Accuracy is good, range isn't - but i have a very short barrel. I'm easily able to hit a 20x20cm electrical box ca. 25m away (according to Google maps ), but bbs start to drop sharply after about 30-35m.
