  1. ... Why man? Why did you have to post a pic of that thing? ... *Checks wallet, wonders if wife will murder me if I stop at the gun shop on the way home from work* Has anyone installed one of the Metal bodies yet? I'd love to hear some comments on fit and finishing as well as any effects on performance (on GBBs I've noticed full metal guns have a tendancy to be more adversly effected by cool down and cold weatherl... perhaps the bodies enhance the cool down because of the bodies conductive qualities?).
  2. Here in the US we tend to use propane intended for use in things like Camp stoves. It comes in 16.4 oz bottles like this: Camping Propane
  3. Stock barrel... it's under the limits... Chronos approx. 360 with .25s (actually 341 with .28s) also, I'm not going to be a player per se - I'm one of the Role Players for the day
  4. Just anecdotal stuff... other boards here in the states... I think it is from double feeding. Also it's not that it double feeds durring normal operation... it happens when you do your pre-emptive mag changes and aren't sure the barrel is clear...
  5. Hmmm, so m x a = Force in Neutons and what you're saying is m is the same, but a is faster (a = "delta V" / Time) so more force... I guess I could buy that... (I was an english major, so if my physics is sketchy don't blame me ) All that said, the ultimate fix is the replacement hop up That said, I'll try and use my WA as my primary at Northern Wind this weekend and see if holds up...
  6. Not being argumentative, but, if I understand how the mechanism works I'm not following how the different gas is going to effect how hard the bolt returns to battery. Isn't the buffer spring what provides the force to return the bolt to battery? If so that spring will only ever create the same amount of force (it is a spring afterall), so how can the different gas change the amount of force? The gas will effect the force that the bolt "blow back" , and I could see that causing additional wear over time... I didn't see this happen to my gun (I was in the middle of an engagment after all
  7. Let me clairify: Mine failed... I broke the top of the hop up "chamber" like almost all the other guys have described here. All I'm saying is that it isn't really because of the Propane / green gas - it's because if you accidentally get a double feed, the resulting jam breaks the part. The force with which the bolt blows back (which is related to the higher power gas) doesn't cause the trauma to the part - the jam does. Mr. Pockek actually milled a replacement for the broken part, and (after wrestling with the O-ring on the chamber end of the hop up unit) noe my gun works flawlessly. T
  8. Heya guys, I'm not sure if anyone else has posed this yet but: LEDPOCKET AND I THINK WE DISCOVERED THE DESIGN FLAW THAT IS CAUSING ALL THE HOP UP UNIT FAILURES ON THIS GUN (the Western Arms to be clear, since this topic seems to have branched into discussion about the upcomming offering from Inokatsu): You shouldn't fire partial magazines! When the blow back cycles, a round is re-chambered at the end of the process. If you drop the mag, this round stays chambered in the hop up (because unlike the Real Steel, there is no extractor), and when you put in a new mag and cycle the charging
  9. Only pic I could find of me from the same UR OP as Kovacs... the AO is awsome. Lots of creey abandoned structures... that said, bring your bug spray!!! The mosquitoes out there are unreal
  10. OK guys, WA CQBR Noobie question / advice request here: I just picked up my Blaster the other night and while I'm super impressed, the performance on duster gas is underwhelming to say the least... so I spoiled myself and loaded up the propane Now that's a blast, but I obviously have some durability concerns. Since some of you guys have had yours longer and a few of you have put them through the stresses of higher pressure gases, here is my question: What breaks (I know hop up chambers, but anything else)? Does it make more sense to just run on propane as long as I can and then just b
  11. New Paintjob on my EBR And I cleaned up the Armory
  12. ... sorry guys, I can't seem to post the youtube video I was going for... I fail at the interwebz
  13. My latest acquisition in honor of my recent trip to the UK: (please forgive the cheesy souvenir style pics ) Nothing special, but I'm pretty happy with it... If I can get my hands on some DPM I might even pull off a "Squaddie" loadout from time to time I'm having no luck tracking any down at what I consider a decent price in my size (38-40" waist regular length and an XL blouse. I'm looking for Desert DPM and or Regular... PM me if ya can help)
  14. Just an additional note: You will notice that non of my OPFOR team is wearing "uniforms". This is by design (normally we're not this rag tag ). Since we are operating with actual service personnel, I find it easier to keep it clear that we are civis, so that we don't accidentally offend anyone not directly involved in the training. There's nothing worse than a ###### off Rupert causing trouble because one of my guys didn't show the proper military courtesies. Something to think about when wearing gear and BDUs in proximity to the folks who really do the job...
  15. My team does some OPFOR work for local NY State Army National Guard units. Here are some pics from our recent training exercise: OPFOR at the Staging Area - I'm on the far left with the Mk43 Laying in wait for the Humvee Column to come through (two different evolutions) The Trap is sprung!! Me using my "lite" gun... CA M249 and The shoe on the other foot so to speak - my opinion on Mounted Infantry operations - F that!!! I'd rather walk... I think the recruits learned some valuable lessons and had a good time
  16. My latest: Gerber Applegate-Fairbairn Mini Covert. Overall not a bad little combat folder for under $50.00. I've almost never been let down by Gerber products.
  17. Very nice medic!!! I see the clause must have treated you well this year
  18. I've had the same experience as Joe... and our field limits were 400 fps with .25s up until the end of this past season. We've been using Bugeye Chainsaw goggles for years with no trouble...
  19. Sorry for the OT, but what types of batteries are you running in that? My EBR seems to go through them very quickly once the temp drops below 40 degrees F. I figure that the metal EBR body acts as a giant heat sink and leatches the warmth right out of my battery packs...
  20. Does anyone know where I might find a 4" or shorter .357 Colt Python in chrome? I want one for my early 80's SEAL Team 6 loadout to represent the Stainless Steel .357s that those guys were issued in the beginning.
  21. My current 1st line set up: From left to right: Drop leg panel with Dump Pouch Kbar Sheath and Training Knife Small Utility Pouch - Used for small items like tools, folding knife, lighter, GPS Deployment Bag used as a butt pack - Spare batteries, Bagged Ammo, spare radio Gemtec Pistol Leash Modified MK23 Gun Bag - I've removed the drop leg extension so the holster rides closer to the hip than the thigh (Keeps the damn thing from getting all wrapped up in my legs when running, while still allowing me to carry the Pistol w LAM, 2 spare mags and the silencer). All of this is w
  22. These Bolos are made from old leaf springs from cars and trucks
  23. My small collection: CRKT Crawford Falcon Leatherman e320 Gerber Mini-Paraframe Ka-Bar Hand Made Bolo (One of my closest friend's brother-in-law makes these for use on the fish farm near Davao, P.I.) Nothing too unusual (except the Bolo ) but they all seem well suited to their various jobs
