  1.  On the real deal, there is a button that is built onto the A1/A2 cocking handles, whereby if you push hard forward onto the button/cocking handle it will act as a forward assist.

On the A3 and the GHK there is no button on the cocking handle hence no real forward assist.

TBH I have never used the forward assist on the Steyr AUG.  Most stoppages are stovepipes.

I never use the forward assist on my AR15's either.  There is usually a bad reason why a round doesn't load so I skip the tap and jump right to the rack to eject the bad round...

  2. That's just to hold the bolt open like MP5s do for the "HK slap". To use forward assist (if GHK replicated it), pull back on the charging handle by about an inch. Then push the charging handle towards the receiver like you would when locking it all the way back. It should cause the rod to engage the bolt and push forward to fully seat. On the real thing you get an audible "click" when the lugs lock up, for airsoft you'll just have to verify visually.

Excellent!  I will try it tonight...

  3. Does the charging handle have the forward assist function replicated? I believe on the real steel you'd pull it back a but, fold it up, and push forward. And yes I do use the forward assist on my GBB ARs quite often. Under certain circumstances I would ride the bolt carrier forward with the charging handle and more often than not the recoil spring pressure isn't sufficient in stripping the bb off the feed lips.

I'm not 100% how it should work but if I lock the bolt back by flipping the charging handle up when all the way back, I can't push forward.  Is that the way the forward assist works on the real AUG?

  4. It's typical airsoft, it's relatively low batch production to begin with and we're dealing with mechanical parts that don't have the most stringent tolerances all trying to work together, every now and then, someone would get a perfect cocktail of lemon parts that just gives them a huge nightmare, and since most people don't buy multiple gun of the same model, it's not exactly the best sample size to speak for a gun's system. So while I believe him, I think he just happens to be the unlucky ones, as I own 6 GHK GBBRs and they're all fine... I think either I've been super lucky, or it's evidently a pretty reliable system.

Very well said.  I feel victim to this exact issue when I bought a WE ACR.  Mine was a complete lemon while others were experiencing zero issues.  I have 11 GHK's (yes, I know...too many) and aside from minor issues that I expect from all GBBR's, they have run and held up very well.

  5. Depends on your definition of disappointment.

First GHK AK (one that had a AEG style hop unit) was so bad it wasn't worth the effort to fix.  I would say that would be a major disappointment

GHK Aks currently are nice only after some steel bits, and a VSR hop.  My gripe is that it is too lightweight for my liking, being 1kg lighter than the real steel, a minor disappointment.

G5s are great, again requiring a VSR hop, again, lightweight but since it doesn't exist the gun had no expectations.

M4 are ok weight wise, but not at all durable.  their "steel" is sintered and wears in no time.  WE's and VFC's steel inserts on pot metal lasts a lot longer.  Thats a disappointment but only a minor one.

If would be a worry if the Steyr AUG was much too light, or disintegrates after a few rounds...that would be a major disappointment

I don't agree with the majority of that opinion but that is OK...except the AUG info as I have yet to touch mine...

  6. Hey Mike 735,

The nozzle Spring needs a G18/P226 Spring-pin attached to it to extend the length....

Unless you can find a longer spring or improvise to make the stock Spring longer..

No idea why this wasn't included or mentioned with the kit :(

    Cheers.

    This is very good information!

  7. I thought it may have been something else or an issue with the mag but as soon as i put the silver tube back into the same mag it fired fine again.  Didn`t do a lot of testing but i also noticed the chrono results where a little strange.  With the silver tube installed it fired around 380fps on green gas dropping steady until the end of the 40-50 rounds but with the silver tube removed it would fire one shot at 360 then 340 and seemed to repeat this pattern.  As i said only tested it quickly before putting the silver tube back in and never got around to testing it again but can`t understand why removing the silver tube would alter the chrono results.

If you are using it with the silver tubes removed on green gas how long are you filling them as i found it could hold over 30 seconds of gas so perhaps it causes problems if extremely overfilled also are you using green gas or propane as i did think it may have been an issue with too much silicone in the gunfire smart gas i was using but it works fine with the silver tube installed.

    10 seconds or so.

  8. I found that with the silver tube in the mag shooting indoors with green gas i was shooting 40-50 shots in semi with the tube removed 80-90 shots in semi but when i went full auto with the tube removed and the mag fully gassed with green gas it would not even empty half a mag, it just sputtered with gas spraying everywhere particularly out the barrel.  It is not as bad as long as you don`t over fill the mag but then you are back to 50-60 shots so i just put the silver tube back and it went back to empting the full mag perfectly in full auto without gas spraying out the barrel.  So in my experience removing the silver tube allows you to overfill the mag but affects performance especially in full auto.

Hmm, I don't have that experience at all.  Anyone with similar experience removing the silver tube?

  9. And largely I will defend them but surely it's better for them to build those things to t best spec. The Japanese market they cater too wants customisation options and the KAC rail is now so outdated for modern purposes. Why go out of way to make it so hard?

I'm just kidding.  There is just no perfect GBBR M4 as each have their problems and niggles...

  10. So out of box I just can't put a real or normal airsofting spec rail system on this without adaptors and military spec stocks won't fit despite commercial spec nearly having died out in the real steel world. So disappointed. I'm sure the internals are fantastic but the problems with the upgradable of this put me right off. Same reason I'm getting rid of my SOCOM Recoil, wobbly barrels and other restrictions are driving me to consider a systema since I want a work bolt catch.

But, but, but it is Tokyo Marui...

  11. Just so they can make a RA P90 and sell it for an inflated price. If they make a steel hop unit together with a steel bolt stop then I am a happy boy.

In theory I agree with that, but I fear that a steel bolt stop and hop unit would lead to another issue somewhere else...

  12. RATech posted pictures of their P90 parts (not yet packaged) on their FB if anyone's interested. Parts were:

    -bolt carrier

-auto sear & the small bit that goes on top of it

    -valve knocker

    -valve knocker lock

No pics of sears or hammers so I guess they found it to be unnecessary?

so they are again making parts to fix a non-existent problem...

any known problems with any of those parts?  If I was going to replace the carrier, I would get a lighter version like the YSC.  Something needs to be done about the bolt catch...

  13. The only thing that I regularly lubricate is the nozzle orings.  I will lubricate friction points with Murder Oil but not before a game but after.  The time between games gives the oil enough time to either drip away or evaporate so what is left is a small amount of lubrication that doesn't cause any function issues.  I have run my GBB's hard and have dropped them in mud, loose dirt, water, etc. and have held up fine (some better than others for sure).  With that said, I may not run mine as hard as Evil Dan does so we may be comparing apples to oranges.

  14. One of the things that is a con for me with the TM design is over complicating the entire action.  The FCG is overly complicated as is the BCG.  There was nothing wrong with the FCG of M4 GBB varriants or the way the bolt locks to the rear as long as you use heat treated steel for the engagement points OR replicate what WE/VFC do.

Time will tell what comes of the TM M4 design and GBB enthusiasts are living in interesting times with all the excellent options we have now.  Just 6-7 short years ago we were all living in WA/G&P GBB hell :)

  15. The ghk bolt lock will fail, along with the other issues I've also experienced. The marui seems to be trouble free so far, a piece of mind everytime i bring it out which is worth a lot to me.

Eh, if it does stop locking back, 5 minutes with a flat file gets it locking back 100%.  Reports from newer batches seems this isn't the case anymore for what it is worth.

TM has issues...primarily the horrendous trigger and the fact that you have to open the mag and remove the silver tube if you want to run green gas/propane with any efficiency.

  16. Have you got around to changing the rail yet? I've got the Spear Arms spacer coming in for my DD RIS II that has been sitting on the sideline waiting to be put on the MWS. Not looking forward to sourcing an AEG style DD barrel nut/rethreading the upper. At least the upper is not a three piece design like KWA.

Hmm, my upper fit without any issue a WE barrel nut which is milspec threading...

  17. So is GHK still the (in most peoples opion) best considering it performs well on green gas. Rocks on co2 with no need to worry about breakage as the meterials used are proper steel etc. I have seen reports of the Marui breaking from green gas. I have also heard reports of the marui feeling and looking like a cheap toy in asthetics comparison to other gbb ar's.

I was waiting for the marui to appear so I could make up my mind, but I think I'll keep all my WOCS as they are MY favourite.

Right now? GHK is a better option OOTB...however, IF the aftermarket airsoft companies go crazy in support of the TM design, then it could propel to the top.  Only time will tell...
