My 105 is running strong on C02. I think the recoil is about the same between the 105 and 74U because the 74U comes with the heavy recoil kit now from GHK. However, installing heavy recoil kit in a 105 makes the felt recoil more on the 105 than 74U.

That is b/c AR's come with buffers with anti-bounce weights. You start to see the issue when you run SBR's in full-auto using just a standard buffer. Your off the shelf AR15 will most likely never encounter bolt bounce...
-
Absolutely correct Zereck. However, this bolt bounce happens on almost all GBBR M4 variations just the difference is that the other platforms (GHK, WE, VT, etc.) nozzle maintains a seal with the bucking during the bounce so no double feed. In the 5.56 variants, I typically use a real standard AR15 buffer and I would bet that the HK buffer would work in this case; however, it is $129 in the USA.

C'mon, you know nobody reads the description of videos on YT

Directly from VFC. Send them an email to their sales department and they will take care of you. Sometimes they are slow to respond and sometimes you have to send the request twice, but you will get your parts.
-
I got them from www.russiansurplus.net but they are out of stock right now. However, I bet you could find them cheaper in Europe...

The PKM pistol grips are perfect as they are fatter but keep the "classic" look of the AK.

Every GBBR I have ever owned had its own set of issues that I either had to resolve myself or fixed by MFG. Difference is GHK is doing what most other GBBR MFG's don't, take care of their customer. Also, remember that forums are a gathering place for people to complain and/or post about their problems/issues. G5 - use common sense...when GHK says not use RAT carrier and C02 in their G5, don't do it. Usually there is a reason for it... AK - hmm, I have 4 AK's and none have ever had any feeding issues. If you do, it takes 10 minutes to fix. Internals are solid as they last for thousands

Wooly, you are correct that something doesn't add up but I am looking at it from the opposite side. GHK quality and performance, in my experience, has been extremely good so why would they take a risk like this? And it is SO frustrating that they glue their nozzles together...I don't see any need for that (from a design or engineering perspective), it would give us the opportunity to tweak the nozzle for optimum performance without paying for a 1J or High Velocity nozzle...

GHK was REALLY quick to say they have had nothing to do with recent development of this product so that makes me think that whatever partnership they had went bad a while back in which GHK knew quality was going to be bad. Just b/c a nozzle/carrier looks like a current GHK part doesn't mean GHK is manufacturing it or even overseeing QC of it...

This is a HUGE misunderstanding which was perpetrated by EVIKE (knowingly or unknowingly). GHK has nothing to do with this as per their PR release after many people inquired directly to GHK. The magazine was originally designed by GHK many years ago but development stopped and was sold/handed off to another company for continued work. So what you are seeing in this kit is NOT a GHK product and NOT representative of GHK quality. This was confirmed with GHK, Samoon and Hephaestus.

That is the bucking I am using but I paired it with a WE Angry Gun inner barrel. What I have seen in my GBBR's is the bucking is for range consistency and the inner barrel is for better accuracy. VFC buckings and inner barrels are really poor.
-
Bada Bing, what bucking are you using again? I am using a Maple Leaf 75 and I got a flier every 4-5 rounds at first but I have seen that Maple Leaf buckings need break-in before running well. I have poured a couple thousand bb's through mine and now my fliers are far less often...maybe one per mag or longer.
-
I would not call it a flop as I know many 417 users that have been running theirs hard without issue. Remember, most people come to forums b/c they have a problem. Not often people come to a forum to post that they have no problems
-
For those that run one point slings (me), Angry Gun just released their buffer tube adapter for the HK417 with two models. eHobbyAsia has them in stock...
-
Dental floss kept breaking so I ended up using a plastic head flat head screwdriver. Mine was on extremely tight...
-
Got one in and the adapter plate screw holes for the RMR are too small for the supplied screws. Easy fix though is to just go slow and re-thread the hole using the supplied screws as the adapter plate is aluminum. Strongly suggest using some Loctite on the screws going into the slide as well as the RMR screws...

Nope, hopefully it doesn't turn out to be vaporware like their burst trigger pack for their MP5 lineup...
-
Well, Justin from Daytona Gun fame has JUST released a complete steel kit for the GHK AK. Check out gasguns.info for more info...but it isn't cheap...
-
I will say that I am disappointed that the 20" kit is just an outer barrel extension. I guess I will wait on Zparts to come out with a one piece 20" outer barrel. I assume the same for the 16" kit.

No airsoft replica is bomb proof but in terms of where the GHK AK series ranks on the reliability chart, it is right near the top. It does have some flaws, but everyone of them can be mitigated easily, replacement parts are available AN inexpensive, and the customer service is fantastic.
-
what mags are you using? the steel 47 mags have tighter feed lips that cause the bb to "jump" out of the mag when the loading arm hits it thus causing the jams. fix is to slightly file the inside the feed lips for smooth entrance into the chamber. Also, some users report filing a smoother channel on the hop unit where the bb enters the chamber to further decrease chance of jams.

The outer shell appears to be identical to previous stanag's...that is all we know so far...

I finally opened my package from KIC and test fired the HK417. All I can say is WOW, the recoil and ROF are both insane. The ROF is more inline with a 9mm SMG so a bit unrealistic but the recoil is probably the strongest I have ever felt from a stock GBBR which includes Daytona Gun.

Just be aware that VFC is working on a new M4/HK416 magazine and the two videos I have seen are incredible compared to current gen magazine. It is not clear if it is an upgrade or a completely new magazine. I am betting a completely new magazine but we shall see...
