  1. I think what's throwing me off is the lack of OD on the rifle's handguard -- I'd recommend ladder covers just to make the color more even But dang that thing is beautiful EDIT: I should also mention that "battery problems" associated with free float forearms are easily solved using AA high-drain batteries in a custom setting, like nunchuk batteries that are single row. If you want more info, ask me, I've gotten AA size batteries in a 4" free float forearm. Mobaar
  2. They do have rechargeable 123a batteries but none that I've found have the current draw required to power an airsoft gun. Can't wait though, the 123A batteries come in 3V and 3.6V so you could potentially run 2-cell 7.2V or 3-cell 9V...won't take long now Of course these are Li-Ion batteries and have their own sets of problems, most of which is the low current draw. Mobaar
  3. A quick and easy solution would be to just add the CAA stock saddle, but it'll operate much like a crane stock then, does have storage for the 123 batteries as well. Alternatively, CAA does make a stock that isn't Crane-esque , actually adds some real estate to your stock: It allows the attachment of a magazine holder to either side, and the little things on the side flip open to hold 4 123a batteries. Just an FYI Mobaar
  4. I've already posted but I'm hoping to get some advice on this M4 pistol project: Should I paint the furniture OD or Tan? My main weap is OD but that can be changed. I play in an environment that has a nice mix of tan and OD so I'm just looking for what's the best looking. I'm also trying to figure out what kind of sight to use with this. Some have recommended iron sights but the sight radius would be a bit lacking due to an unrailed forearm and no gas block. I'm thinking maybe a Samurai OP scope or another open sight, but other options will be considered! Give me some h
  5. Alright guys, here's a quick glance at my next project, it's almost done. It's 3 months in the making, just on my spare time between classes, etc. Started out as spare parts, now is getting closer to the M4 pistol I want it to be. Uses a real steel fake can (mock silencer) and handguard, and the buffer tube is completely custom and still in the works. Now THAT is what a custom AEG is all about. Shoots on semi and full auto and is still stock, and I intend it to be that way. Talk about a nice sidearm for Mr. M15a4t: Which has already gone under some changes like a
  6. What cheekpad would you suggest? AR cheekpads are few and far between, so a link or pic would be appreciated. I could go with a BHI sniper cheekpad, but does anyone know if it'd fit without adding a few inches of Para cord? Don't you worry your pretty little head, iceman. The bipod's already been changed out with a Harris clone (I hated that dang thing too -- too high for prone shooting), and the high scope mount is a necessity, unfortunately. I can always try to get a better NM style one, but I didn't feel like dropping the extra 100 or so bucks. Mobaar

  8. That may be something you have to test. I'm thinking not terribly light but not real dark. Like crayon brown, only flat. You may have to go with something lighter than the Krylon brown, but that's a good place to start. If you have an extra shade of brown, it's no biggie. Mobaar
  9. You may want to add a touch of brown to it. While the painting is absolutely great, the color choice and use you want makes it tough -- the biggest giveaway to something is the lines of it, and the second are the lines within it. If you add a color in between the light tan and the black it'll hide better. I say add brown, it'll make your woodland pattern pop a little better. You can even cover most of the green with it, as the gun's only SO big, if I had to choose a color to sacrifice it'd be green because you want black for urban and neutral tones for nature, tan and brown can mix in wood
  10. Well I actually think you are mistaken, and of course no offense intended. I posted this in the Armalite section as well, the older one, and if you look at my previous posts and his, I'm the only one with the post. And no, this was entirely a job done by me. No buying of the weapon from anyone else. Mobaar
  11. I rest my case. BTW, I WAS that guy trying to sell the VSR to fund the project. And I did fund the project . Mobaar
  12. My painted M15 with real steel foregrip: Cheers! Mobaar
  13. Why thank ye. I can give you a list of external parts I used to get that look. Took minimal work and didn't cost me much, almost the same price as Airsoft stuff! Mobaar
  14. After seeing this real steel M15a4(t): I went forward and made this: I like it. Internally, it's solid, use helical gears, etc. I'm an American so you can just guess where the fps is . Something around 328. Whatcha think? Mobaar
