  1. Wow where the heck did you get a Guarder threaded barrel??? Been wanting one so badly :(

They are unfortunately difficult to get hold of. You can get the PGC slide & threaded barrel set for around $80 + shipping thats in stock at a few places.

  2. Thanks for the comments, Heres some specs

    Base Gun - TM G17

    Guarder Frame

    Guarder Threaded Barrel

    Guarder Loading Nozzle

Guarder 150% recoil Spring & rod

    Guarder modified hi flow valve

    Aluminium Piston

    Internal Springs replaced

    PGC Slide

    Detonator Trijicon Tritium Sights F/R

    Trijicon RMR clone

The RMR isnt mounted yet as im having a mount made as i write this. Gun shoots great finally, has been through a multitude of problems but is now all sorted from the inside out. I do enjoy shooting this pistol, can't wait for the RMR to be mounted securely.

    Cheers

  3. Well, I was hoping to get one for $10 shipped, but I'm cheap that way :D

Fair enough, But for a product that works from a company that people respect and love isnt it worth the extra $10-$15 to support Magpul/PTS so they will continue to bring us new exciting products?? If it wasnt for Magpul there wouldnt be no ASAP right? therefore no cheap ACM clone to buy either.

Not a personal dig at you Whan, Just i think its a no brainer when its only a few $ between the clone and the real deal.

  4. Unless they just started doing that I believe you might be mistaken... I have two MIAD's at home, neither of which are like you describe

I thought i might have been dreaming but i found the pics.

Notice the hundreds of magpul logo's?

  5. The CTR issue isn't exclusive to the PTS versions. I've seen that happen in some RS Magpul products. It's not common, but it's not rare either. It's due to the occasional occurrence of the dyes/pigments not completely saturating the polymer cast part. Being that the dyes aren't the structural part of the polymer mix, the blotchiness, while not considered ideal doesn't affect the functionality of the piece.

As for AEG (non-PTW) receivers that are compatible with DD, and other RS Spec barrel nuts, I'm not aware of any that fit that bill. The Madbull re-threader you speak of should correct that problem.

Yea it doesn't affect function, Still I would have liked it to be a straight OD, I guess i can flash over it with Krylon/other OD paint if need be.

Since you know your magpul, riddle me this :D : on the RS magpul miad the grip pattern is made up of tiny magpul logo's i believe, yet the PTS version unfortunately isn't. I would have thought they would carry over that detail to the PTS, any idea why not? Still, the magpul products are great, no big complaints over all.

I really like the look of your rifles, you've got some very cool setups, they look awesome mate.

The DD lite is coming on pretty good, i've done away with the barrel nut altogether and have modified the receiver.

Had to bore out about 4mm from the inside of the rail to get the dytac barrel through. I've used a bolt through the gas tube hole to the receiver to lock it in place. Also utilising the aimpoint mount to secure the the rail/receiver even more. The barrel has very minor wobble (1mm) but this will be modded with a o-ring (maybe rubber) and it should be good to go. The rail is solid and there is no gap between receiver and rail so its worked pretty well.

I would say it will hold up to skirmishing abuse but thats not my intention anyway as it's purely for target practice.

quick pic, not a very good one sorry but gives an idea. Its about 65% done, still needs work/parts but i'm enjoying the build :)

  6.

Thanks for the info mate, problem being is getting those items in the UK. I'm a bit grrrr with having to spend $80-100 just to get the damn barrel nut on with no garuntee i wont wreck it in the process. Whats the deal with the madbull threaders, same thing? any good?

Not sure what i will do at the moment, I like the magpul receiver but i believe thats made by G&P as well?? anyone know what receivers work with these DD clone rails?

quite annoying as its been 2 months collecting the parts and i'm over my intended budget and still its just a pile of parts lol :(

Yeah the gas tube hole is way off on mine, its pretty much on an angle which forces the gas tube into a wierd unusable position. Least of my worries though as i can just clean up the holes and it will be fine.

And whilst i'm complaining about stuff the finish on the magpul CTR is terrible, WTF is with the blotchiness when its supposed to be a straight OD finish, i've seen others like this as well with strange marks in the same place, looks like its damaged and not supposed to be like that. Its the only magpul peice i'm not impressed with, all the other stuff is nice.

Looking good so far. Yesterday I had to install a DD Lite Rail onto a G&P upper for the second time. From my personal experience, The hardest obstacle you have ahead of you is getting the barrel nut on there. I highly recommend getting the correct thread die and a rubber strap wrench. I used this barrel nut die (1.250"-18 tpi Die, Part #080-598-126) and this strap wrench. The first 50% of the threads you can probably cut by turning the die by hand. THe last 50% will probably require the rubber strap wrench as it's a bit too tough. Just remember, you want to use some kind of cutting fluid to aid the cutting. You could probably use any lubricant you have on hand. You should be backing the die out frequently. In the first few threads, you can probably get a full turn done before backing it out. Eventually you'll have to back it out after every 15 degrees of cutting. Also, because the G&P upper is cast metal, it's not as strong as one CNC'ed from billet aluminum so just be careful how much you torque the receiver as you cut the threads. Because if you're not careful, you could snap the upper receiver. One of my friends did that with their G&P upper. Take it slow and you'll be fine.

It's strange that your gas tube holes between your DD Lite Rail and your G&P upper doesn't line up. I've installed a number of RS DD lite rails on G&P uppers now, and never had that issue.

  7. that looks fantastic man!

What do you mean by the "dytac barrel is too big"?

i also got a Dytac 12in barrel to be used with my DD LITE 9in Rail.

if it doesn't fit, then im gonna be ######!

    Thanks,

Yea the dytac barrel, If you look at my pic where the DD rail is supposed to meet with the upper receiver, the barrel is to "fat" at that end for the inside of the DD rail to slide over it. It wont go any further than the pic shows. I'm going to have to bore out the inners of the DD rail, but no dremel at the moment :(

Got the drill on charge though :D
