  1. i had a similar problem to yours, fitted a new barrel, thought i was getting air lose around the hop unit, turns out the piston was to tight on the gearbox rails. Because the piston was so tight it could not move forwards freely, it was mearly getting pushed slowly forwards by the spring, resulting to not much air flow equalling low FPS. one thing i've stood by from the beginning is that stars pistons are more oval in shape than TM pistons. meaning they are narrower! i went back to using stars piston and the problem went away. if your still getting air loss put tyflon tape around

  3. only finished it last weekend, will have it with me sunday for you to butchers at. oh and maybe the AUG i'll take another pic of the front end so you can see hows its finished. i cut the barrel in half so i've lost the 14mm thread, unfortunalty i can only fit the silencer shown in the pic.
  4. Not to every one's taste im sure but here's a few pics of my hack sawed to death m4. specs D-boys RIS m4 every thing is stock apart from the modified piston. runs on a 11.1 1100 Mah lipo battery. unreal ROF. also had a spray job, pictures dont show it that well but the colour is graphite grey.
  5. right got all the pics up loaded now. spec TM AUG TN Tight bore barrel Systema hop unit systema bore up kit, cylinder, piston head, cylinder head, air nozzle. systema polycarb black piston. systema torque up gears (flat) systema torque up motor systema bushings ICS spring guide prometheous spring. up graded wiring. 11.1v 2175 mah lipo battery. think thats every thing. the colour is white indeed (like to think of it as winter camo, not that theres much snow were i am) its not bright white as it appears in the pics, its more of a flat cream white. so
  6. finally finished the custon AUG, loads of up-grades, will post specs later, and some more pics.
  7. As far as im aware the clamied Red, Yellow and Clear complete gearboxes have not been produced and probably never will be. How ever you can find the star clear gearbox alone. also there are many metal gearboxes that are a copy of the star gearbox which IMO offer better longevity.
  8. Are you using that piston in the star gearbox or the PGC gearbox? As i believe the PGC gearbox uses standard pistons. Also were did u get the PGC gearbox from. cheers
  9. Would keep well away from using an aluminium piston head in the stock gearbox, you'll crack the cylinder head nubs off in no time. I would stick with a polycarbonate piston head with bearing.
  10. I used a systema AUG air nozzle, the first advantage is that the systema nozzle has an o-ring inside of it, meaing better compression. the star air nozzle does not use an o-ring. the second advantage is the fact you can make the air nozzle the lenght you want. the AUG air nozzle is longer than stars. you have to make it shorter or it wont load BB's into the hop unit. I made it shorter useing a sharp file. the advatage is, if your losing air between the hop bucking and air nozzle, just make the AUG nozzle slighty longer than stars. Only 1mm or so, this will give you a better s
  11. As far as i know there is no after market cylinder head that will fit stars gearbox, if you need to replace the cylinder head you will have to get one from star. As for the air nozzle, a modified AUG air nozzle will work. AT first i thought this was untrue, but ive proven my self wrong as i currently have one in my m249. As for pistons, Again only stars piston will fit this gun, NO after market piston will fit.. Ending on a good note, Any standard piston head will fit. i currently have a systema polycarb running in mine. hope that clears things up for you.
  12. HOP UP INFORMATION Hello all, after reading a lot of requests for pictures of how to cover the hop bucking with teflon tape i went ahead and took some. in the first picture it shows the barrel and hope bucking. the hop unit has been removed. i have replaced the star bucking with a systema hard type. (more on this later) lighty spray the barrel with silicone oil and put on the new bucking. next wrap a small amount of teflon tape around the bucking. do this carfully and try not to double up the tape if possible. the tape must be flat with no creases
  13. cheers for your helpfull reply tiff. just thought id get a quick responce from some one whos had a similar problem. any ways, been doing some research, ive found that star piston heads are a smaller diameter to TM, ICS, systema piston heads. but star use a bigger O-ring to make up the difference, as the cylinder appears to be the same size. ive used teflon tape around the star piston head (remember to clean off all cylinder grease as it affects teflon tape) which has made it completely air tight. how ever as soon as i put the air nozzel on the compresion goes. ive tried puttin
  14. hello all, cant be arsed to look at the whole thread to see if this has come up befor. but does any one know of a air nozzel other than STARS own that fits the m249. air is escaping around the air nozzel, so a new nozzel or cylinder head is needed.
