  2. Could be a third option... there are TONS of government grants available for law enforcement agencies in terms of arming officers with more capable weaponry and equipment. Most of them revolve around distributing ex-military surplus around to agencies in the needs (i.e. the California Highway Patrol uses surplus M16's from the US Army on a lend-lease basis), but a few involve cash to be appropriated towards modern arms. But my guess is still personal purchase.
  3. Given the loads of magpul accessories on his gat I'd say its some department that allows for personal purchase accessories or even complete firearms, which some departments are moving towards almost entirely motivated by internal pressure from officers/deputies who just want to gucci out their s###-hitting-the-fan gun.
  4. Uba, toyish or not, it looks great on an AK. Seems a bit more appropriate then the fakedot I was going to put on my 74U... and at that price... Thanks for the info. And nero, your AK74 looks great... nice subtle weathering! Steve
  5. My stock TM 1911A1 is by far my most reliable and accurate GBB I own. I might enjoy fiddling with my metal slided TM G17 and Tanaka M29 more, but when I have to go into a skirmish, the only gun I trust enough to work every time has been my 1911. Your finish seems to have worn far better then mine... all the "parkerize" has worn off much of the frame and slide from handling. The resilience of TM finish's is really my own complaint with them. My positive experience with the 1911A1 may encourage (force) me to buy an MEU in the future... And I agree about the hard plastic holster.
  6. Victory, could you post a picture w/o suppressor with the bipod folded? Neat m14. Steve
  7. UBA, you got a name for the red dot? Great looking gun. Steve
  8. Zepher, love the AKSU... I might have to look into one of those grips, very cool.
  9. Snigel, great paint job. Did someone say otherwise??
  10. Hence the QD suppressor I've always wanted a suppressed 10" length AR, so that's what that's all about. Now I just have the quiet the din of the gearbox! M98... I've always loved L300's... I don't know where one would fit into my current arsenal (since it would occupy the same role as my new CQB-R), but I wouldn't be surprised if I end up with one someday. Your L300 is a real beaut. Steve
  11. I'm impressed someone picked up on the Boyi-ness... I posted it in the painted weapons thread! Anyway Vercing, thanks for mistaking it as a systema, I figure that counts as high praise...!? I'm building this rifle as pretty much a 100% indoor gun for a private site I have, big indoor warehouse. Wanted something compact enough for tight hallways and corners, but compatible with the myriad of AR mags I already own. It has been fun working on it so far, can't wait for all the internal bits to arrive! Steve
  12. I'm actually really impressed by the metal body, the design is such that unlike my expensive hurricane body (an old version at that), you can easily remove the upper and change out inner barrels, hop-ups, etc. without any drama. I got mine without any trades, since I knew I was going to paint it, but I now see that the trades aren't just painted in, they are shallowly engraved, if the safe/semi/full markings are anything to go by. I'm regretting not getting a traded body now, since it would still 'ghost' through the paint, and give the body a bit more interest. Internals... these things
  13. The grip stuff on the stock has little purpose to tell you the truth, kind of nice during a cheek weld), but mostly I just like the way it breaks up all the brown and tan... Thanks for the comments guys...
  14. My current project, still awaiting quite a few internal parts and a few external trinkets. Boyi CQB-R.
  15. Yup... I busted my plastic slide awhile back when I dropped it, still functioned but occasionally it would "derail." So went ahead and bought a PGC aluminum... can't believe how well it shoots still, added a bit of recoil but still seems to cycle as quickly as with the plastic. Also looks sharp, and wasn't terrifically expensive either!
  16. Can you pick out which one is the Marui G17 w/ PGC slide?
