Could have been that the valve in your mag(s) had unscrewed itself. If it does, it won't release enough gas to satisfy the blowback unit meaning the slide won't go as far back as needed. Happend to me once.

Does anyone know where to get cheap real steel 5.45 mags? I've been searching and most shops are in the US, except this one http://www.rusmilitary.com/html/c-deact_magazines.htm but they're a bit pricey... or is it reasonable? Most interested in Izhmash orange bakelite or East German bakelite ones. Need a few (16 or more).

@evilliboba I'm going to do the same. Does anyone know if it's true that you have to modify the real steel handguard and that it's then only held on by friction? I think I read something like that in a guide long ago or maybe that is only for the wood handguards?

@6ft4 I talked to VFC earlier this week about the MG4 and they seemed very positive to my suggestion and said there's a big possibility they'll make one.

Look at the mag plate, it's airsoft. Edit- At a second thought, I'm unsure.
