  1. Received mine today.

    Some small niggles:

a little bit of left/right play between the upper and lower receiver. A shim or washer would probably sort this out.

QD sling mount pulls out really easily of the rear, left mount hole. The hole on the stock accepts the QD mount and it doesn't pull out easily.

The button that is used to fold the stock is super stiff. It takes quite a bit of pressure to get the stock to fold. Could be I am weak or the assembly needs to be oil (?).

Seating magazines is a bit... odd. My MAG mid-caps fit and feed fine, as does the included D-Boys mag. The magazines don't lock into place easily, however, they just seem to need a bit of jiggling around in order to seat properly.

Overall, very nice. It feels quite small and agile. Handles nicely.

    EDIT:

Solution (maybe) found for the magazine issues. If you turn the gun upside down and look up into the magazine well you'll see some wires running by on the right side. These wires, unless they are pushed to the side a bit, prevent magazines from locking into place easily. I pushed them down and off to the side a bit and now my magazines lock into place a whole lot easier.

    The MerchantofVenice,

I didn't mean to come off as harsh or disappointed. The gun is actually really nice. I just wanted to point out some "issues" to people who might be considering buying one. By no means are they big "issues," but they should be mentioned. None of the issues are really that big of a deal.

  2. For all you SIG 55x owners, is it possible to run the gun's wires and mini-tamiya through one of the handguard holes to connect up with a PEQ? Or conversely, is it possible to run the "female" small-type tamiya from a mini-battery through one of the holes to meet up with the gun's "male" small-type tamiya on the inside of the handguard?

For example, see the holes on the handguard of the SIG 552 pictured below:

  3. REVO, I guess that explains why that gun am scary in real life.

Anyway, on topic, What is the difference between the MOE CTR and the regular CTR stock?

Just to add to what was said above. The Element CTR stock being sold by some overseas retailers for approx $40 (shipped) has the friction lock feature. It's a more affordable option for those who want the price of the MOE, but the features of the standard CTR.

  4. I just received mine yesterday. Sorry, no photographs at this time.

So far I'm fairly impressed. The material and stitching appear robust. The main components are double stitched, while some secondary bits (like the attachment of velcro to the mag pouch closures) are single stitched. It would have been nice to have these things triple and double stitched, but in terms of longevity of the current design we'll have to see. Given the <$20 price tag this piece isn't too shabby.

My only real complaint is that while the thing can be adjusted to a very, very large size it is more difficult to adjust it to a smaller size because the padded shoulder straps are a set non-adjustable length. So for me (5'6" 130 lbs) I have the adjustable straps sinched all the way down as far as possible to the point where further shortening is made impossible because of the non-adjustable padded shoulder strap sections. Not really a big deal, and it fits fine, but I would have liked to be able to shorten it up just a bit more.

This issue was discussed over at Lightfighter and apparently someone came up with a solution involving some custom made straps. For those interested here is the link.

I realize that without pictures this last bit might be a it confusing. Anyone interested can PM me for clarification.

As I mentioned previously, once I have all my equipment available I'll toss some magazines into it and post up some photos.

  5. Something a little different. Buddy and I go hiking in the local mountains in full gear and do patrolling, scenario type stuff. Went earlier today, some pretty cool shots.

Me clearing a tunnel we came across with an 870 (real).

I'm sure your local mountains are on private property far from the view of John Q Public... (?)

Cool photo though. Digging the camo. DPCU?

  6. Howdy all,

I know there was some confusion about this in the past, but does the WOC have a commercial or mil-spec buffer tube?

Posts on the previous page suggest that the WOC has a commercial size tube, but I just want to confirm.

As a follow-up, most airsoft buffer tubes are commercial or mil-spec?

  7. I think a lower mount would be better to. I gotta admit, it looked better in black.

Lies! Don't listen to the naysayers Reborn. Your rifle is probably one of the best on Arnies! No nonsense, light and efficient is the way!

  8. I'm fairly interested in something along the lines of either

    1) the EI/SKD universal chest rig

    or

    2) some sort of RACK type system

I spotted the BDS Tactical Simple Stacker Chest Rig and I like the idea of having the integrated magazine pouches. I've always found this feature rather neat on the Wasatch / Weesatch range and the SoTech Hellcats.

Can anyone comment on either of these types of systems? Anyone know of any other systems that utilize the integrated magazine design like the BDS rig above?

  9. Question for all you chest-riggers.

I've noticed that many of you (Agent Hunk I've noticed in particular) carry water attached to your rigs. Does this cause the chest rig to bounce or move around a lot?

In addition, you all might be able to point me in some new directions.

I'm looking into the possibility of going with a chest rig and I've got some requirements that need to be met.

    1. Rig must be able to carry water - I use a Maxpedition mini rolly-polly to carry my nalgene. It attaches with one malice clip.

    2. Rig must carry at least 8 magazines.

    3. rig must have space to attach a large medical pouch, or some such, to be used as a dump pouch.

    4. Rig must not bounce around unduly.

    5. Rig needs to be adjustable enough for my frame (5'6" 135 lbs)

    6. Rig must not have any back attachment points. For example, the X-harness has that bit of PALS attached to it so you could mount something up high on your back. I'm not interested in carrying water there. I want everything to be on my front from center of chest to running under my arm pits.

    7. Rig must be affordable (say $60 and under not including pouches)

  10. Ill be replacing the body with a G&P Zombie Killer soon, as well as some internal mods to the Hop and a tight barrel. That will have to wait till my next payday though.

Will post photos of my CA M15A1 later on.

Hate to break it to you, but aftermarket bodies won't fit ICS M4s. That's the price you pay for having the split-gearbox design.

  11. Thanks, is it enough space to fit a 1400 mah 8.4v small type battery in there too?

    Robinio,

Back when I had my CASV I could fit some small type batteries in it, but it was generally hit or miss. If the mini had those plastic guards at one end or the other then they wouldn't fit because the guard made the battery slightly too wide. If the guard was absent from the pack then it would fit tightly.

I ordered a bunch of these 9.6v 2000 mAh nunchucks for around $11.00 a piece about a year ago. They worked really well as they could slide up along the inside of the CASV or along the top of the barrel.

    Hope that helps!

edit: My CASV was the KA version and other versions might differ in their specifications.
