  1. Yeah, but it's such a 'C2D' thing to do. Words like "Blinking", and "Flipping", and other acceptable English words can be used in its place to achieve the same result. After all, this is a PG-13 forum and it's down to our members to keep the content PG-13. The language filter was only introduced because many members couldn't keep things PG-13. If you take a look at other similar forums that don't have a PG-13 rule as far as language goes, you'll notice that the harsh language posted makes the environment noticably more hostile than it is here
  2. Indeed. Clicking the "Advanced Usage Help" link immediately below the text you want to search for, gives you details on how to use the search feature. http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/inde...ch&CODE=explain When I first started using this forum-engine, I found the search function a little clunky, but practicing a few times means I can now find what I want without a problem.
  3. Hmmm, not a bad idea, but it could be a little redundant. All someone needs to do to find the for sale value of the kit they are selling is have a quick look through previous occasions where that second hand item has been sold previously. The search feature helps nicely with this. Also, a product is only worth what someone is willing to pay. To you, a mint condition TM XM177E2 could be worth £150, but I wouldn't be interested at anything above £70 because I'm not a fan of AEGs. A broken G&G M14 might be worth £20 to you, but I would take it at £140 because I know I have a good cha
  4. Added to the Thread FAQ here ( http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/inde...indpost&p=90469 ) I have presently linked it to this thread, but if you can send me the original thread this information was held in, I will add that link instead I will soon be reorganizing the essential thread index anyway to make it easier to find.
  5. Umm, yes. If you don't like the word that the obscene language filter uses, STOP USING OBSCENE LANGUAGE! Sounds simple enough
  6. Yes. Editing has now been enabled. Edits are still subject to moderator approval, but using the "Edit" button on the review page will allow the original poster to change their initial review or add bits to it.
  7. No probs. I'm selling because I want to get more ModelGuns basically. I'd love to try out some of the pistols, but I don't have the money at the moment. It is worth noting that this gun IS a factory assembled kit, it wasn't one that needed assembly. Most ModelGuns are pretty high maintenance until someone invents a 100% clean burning cap. They are worth it though
  8. Yup, that is using the IMG tag, just as you would in a forum post e.g. [img=http://www.website.com/imagefolder/image.jpg]
  9. Depends on the question. If you want to know what sort of gearset is in the reviewed gun, post a thread in Technical Discussion and link to the review page. If you want to know if the magazines will fit in your vest, post up in Gear Discussion. Things like links at the bottom of each review leading to a thread where comments can be posted is something that will be considered for future addition. At the moment, we just wanted to get the system up and running and it has been a lot of hard work getting it this far. As your comments on the system are received, thoughts will be taken on bo
  10. It depends on its popularity. I guess eventually, the Reader's Reviews section will be totally replaced by this system. The normal reviews section may remain to compliment this new system for a while until the information contained becomes too outdated or the reviews are replaced by better ones in the new system. You can always start a thread to ask questions about a particular review, or PM the author.
  11. Cheers Not automatically. If you have a review in the "Reader's Reviews" section, feel free to copy it over though
  12. It's like a 2.5mm stereo jack. You can see it on the far left of this photo... http://www.airsoftguide.co.uk/r22master/re...e_headpiece.jpg
  13. Hi Andres, I am not sure where the "Help" e-mail link leads - I would imagine direct to Arnie as I haven't received anything. Arnie is a busy chap at the moment, but he will get round to this as soon as possible. It is possible that he can't reply to your "Help" e-mails as your e-mail address has changed, but now that this thread has been left, he will undoubtedly see it when he returns. Hopefully this will all be sorted out soon. Sorry for the delay.
  14. Yes. The main concerns with signature images are... Image Filesize (KB) Image Height The image limit of 400x100 (400 wide by 100 high) has been put forward as an ideal image size. Having one that is 500 wide isn't going to be a problem either really as it won't stretch the width of the page for many users. Much wider than this though will start to cause a problem. More than 100 pixels high though is a problem, as people have to scroll past signatures to read the posts that people have made, and seeing the same tall signature image over and over again does get very annoying. S
  15. Good plan. As soon as he sees this, he'll sort it out
  16. I'm on IE6, and it's apparent for me too. This seems to have happened within the last 6 hours. Just an alignment problem methinks, possibly due to a recent update Arnie is working on.
  17. Thread moved to "Site Errors and Suggestions" sub-forum, and pinned.
  18. Remember also, that it's not just about the physical and bitwise size of a signature image, this is about signatures in general. Some people have text only signatures which is fine, but when that text contains rubbish and takes up more space than most of their posts, it is taking the mickey somewhat. 400x100 pixels is the limit for signature images and it is acceptable to accompany this sized image with one or two lines of text in smallest size font (Size=1). However, when someone has text stretching a good 800 pixels by itself, or a 400x150 pixel image with 3 or 4 lines of text too
  19. Interactive Review System - How-To Guide Written by R22Master Welcome to the How-To Guide for the IRS system on Arnie's Airsoft. IRS stands for "Interactive Review System", and provides internet users everywhere with a balanced view of the pros and cons of owning almost any Airsoft product. Here's how you can make your contribution... How to use I.R.S. This system allows users to add their own reviews dynamically without the need for their submission to be coded by Arnie to HTML as with the old system. There are two main steps to adding your review. 1. If the product you want t
  20. Standard flame will ignight the fuse if there is still enough of the sulphur attached to the tip. If the tip has been knocked off, normally only a blue-flame lighter will start the fuse off.
  21. Fair point, but this isn't really a huge problem as far as I see it. At the end of the day, this is only an internet forum and if someone wants to post a useless poll, it's not really harming anyone. At the end of the day, even if there are enough moderators to cover all periods, there will still be times when there are none actually on-line - we all have lives away from the computer after all. Also, there may be a lot of members who don't fancy having a state of Marshall Law on the forums where every word is scrutinised for possible punishment 24 hours a day. The only way we could
  22. Oh cool, didn't notice they had linked to my review Thanks for your comments on the review - it's much appreciated. I chose MGCollector because they were the fastest to reply (ModelGuns took ages) and they gave me a great level of customer care. It is more of a rumor than fact that SAS troopers can just choose any weapon they want. In fact they do have somewhat more choice than other regiments, but it is usually done on a mission basis. Any trooper cannot just pick his favorite gun any time he wants, rather weapons are chosen based on the work that is being undertaken. My fr
  23. Not sure. Haven't found the need to remove the inner barrel yet. From the looks of it, I would imagine so though Incidentally, I found that cutting a small amount off the hammer spring has improved the locking-back of the slide, but only a bit. Probably not worth bothering with for most people though.
  24. Cheers for the info Sid. However, I have noticed a few things that are different to my experiences so in the interest of having all the facts, I thought I'd illustrate where mine is different... My box does have writing on it, but doesn't state a specific manufacturer like WE/HFC/Armotech, etc... Just says Hi-Capa 5.1 and some other texts. Is this what you meant by "unbranded" or is yours totally blank? Sounds like yours was either badly assembled at the factory, or it was stripped afterwards and not put back together properly. My grip safety worked fine
