  1. Yup. Basically it breaks down like this. Extreme: Top of the range - two mics, two sound tubes for the best possible sound quality both sending and receiving. (Review link) Commando: Mid-range system with one mic and one ear tube (tubes provide better sound quality than ear-buds, although the difference isn't massive). (This review) Airsoft / Paintball: Entry level set. A great set by all accounts, but the least expensive set, which lets you wnjoy throat mic goodness at a low price. (Review link) There are also differences in weatherproofing and durability which change
  2. The extreme edition is in their "Motorsport" range http://firefoxtechnologies.zoovy.com/category/1.1b
  3. Take a look on the Firefox web site. That will help you compare the features of each one in a standard format. Maybe we should get all three together sometime soon and put them head-to-head to find out which is the best in different circumstances?
  4. I suppose it could theoretically run on a cellphone, but you'd have to make a custom adapter for it. I seriously doubt there are any out there and if there are, they are likely to be hard to find. If anyone can find links to cellphone adapters though, please post them here and prove me wrong Not 100% sure about the background noise interfering with the mics though. I hope to take my set flying in the next couple of weeks though, so I will report back, as helicopters are Horrendously noisy environments.
  5. Runs off the power supplied by the PMR Radio Set. Not all PMR Radios are compatible. I know for a fact that some Kenwood models and the BT Freeway FM sets are NOT compatible (normal Freeway radios are ok, just not the FM model apparently). Some radios will need an adapter to work, but Airsoftmart also supply these and will be able to help let you know what fits what radio. You can push either PTT button in order to communicate - the one on the radio or the auxiliary one on the headset rig. Both behave the same. I am not sure exactly how low you can talk. If the mics are corr
  6. FireFox Extreme Throat Mic Set - Review Pros: VERY clear sound quality - both talking and listening, easy to use, never get in the way, very useful push-to-talk button, weatherproof. Cons: Microphone modules sometimes slip down when sweating. (Large Image - Click here) I was aprehensive. I mean, how could a microphone that takes the sound from your throat, before your teeth and tongue had formed words, send your message clearly and concisely to your recipient(s)? Well, I was wrong. First Impressions I got my Firefox Extreme throat mic fro
  7. PG-13!!!!! Sooooo many people are posting R18 pics and links - STOP! I have deleted all offending posts. From now on, stick to the PG-13 rule on this site or do not post. Further non-PG-13 posts are likely to incur warning points. Thank you.
  8. Well, it all depends on what string basis the rep system was written (programmers will know what I'm talking about here). If the rep system counts in "Integers", HaVoC's rep will top-out at 32,000. If it is written in "Doubles" or "Longs" then it will top out at about 16.7 million. Personally, I reckon we should venture on the side of caution and just reduce it to zero now. All those in favor say "Aye!"
  9. EXACTLY! The "Report" button turns EVERYONE in to a moderator. If you see a problem on the forums, hit the "Report" button and it will draw the attention of the moderators faster than a fart in a vacuum. It sends a bulletin to all global moderators and admins instantly, detailing the post in question and the reason why it was reported. We click a link and it takes us directly to that post, ready to dispense instant justice. If you see a problem and hit the report button, it helps us see who is spotting all the problems and therefor, who is more likely to make a good moderator.
  10. *Stumbles* Right-o. First off, we are aware that another moderator (ideally a West Coast US mod due to their GMT offset) would be of benefit to the site, but the entire admin team has been somewhat overwhelmingly busy at the moment, and it has been difficult to get anything sorted out so far. We are looking in to it, but moderator selection is NOT done in a democratic manner for various reasons. Here's a few (as I posted in the existing "need another mod" thread... Mod selection is done according to the following... 1. This is Arnie's site, so he gets final say in all matters, es
  11. The answer to your question is in the pinned topic at the top of this very sub-forum... http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/inde...showtopic=22251
  12. Hmmmm, possibly then either you've got a duff TM Hi-Capa (entirely possible as this possibility was raised last week due to your rather lack-lustre experiences with it), or I have a duff WE Hi-Capa (again possible as it is the only one I have fired to date). In fact the fact that you mentioned yout TM isn't quite as fast as I described would indicate that yours is not cycling at full speed.
  13. Sorry, I mean that when you pull the trigger the hammer snaps forward on to the back of the slide (where the firing pin would be on a real-steel). This fires the gun, the slide moves back and resets the hammer. On the TM Hi-Capa this happens so fast you never even see the hammer move - the gun just goes off. On the WE version, you see the hammer fall easily before the slide starts to move back.
  14. There has been a lot of confusion about this, but power levels aren't the only factor to consider. A full-auto air rifle is different as Air Rifles have rifled barrels - Airsoft does not. This changes the classification and the laws that pertain to this replica. There are also other key differences that take this outside current legislation, but I don't have all the details to hand at the moment. Basically, my gun was checked at Customs 2 days ago and they thought it was ok. Airsoft Scotland are selling these guns and they have no problems importing or selling them. Also, it is i
  15. Okay, my one of these arrived yesterday so last night I went out for a spot of range work to test it out. Firstly, I have to say I have only put about 500 shots through the gun so far so these are only "first-impression" sort of comments. I may do a proper review after 3,000 > 4,000 shots have gone through it. --------------------------------------------------- The first thing I noticed on firing this gun is that the blowback seems REALLY sluggish. It is so slow that you can easily see the hammer hit the back of the frame before the slide even starts to move. This is n
  16. Okay, I received my KWC CO2 Mini Uzi yesterday and I've barely been able to put it down since, so I thought I'd weigh in with a Mini-Review of my own. I may well do a full review once I have put a few thousand shots through it in all conditions. Gerry's review (first post in this thread) was so good though, I am going to base my review on his, as I also agree with most of what he said. In the below review, text in blue is Garry's comments from his review, and text in red show my comments... ------------------------------------------ First impressions It comes in a
  17. Ummmm, yes. I think what Sid is trying to say ( ) is that the Pictures Sub-Forum is for pictures. When someone posts a photo of their favorite Armalite up, people are going to comment on it and ask questions. This is par for the course and not something we would want to squash. After all, if someone posted up a gun with a scope you have been looking for for ages, you would find it hard to resist asking where you could obtain one from yes? However, a solution is at hand. If you are after no-nonsese pictures without the hassle of discussion, check out the gallery. You can search
  18. Thread moved to "Reader's Reviews" section. DO NOT SPAM THIS THREAD or it will be moved back to Off Topic Cheers
  19. Let's face it - we're all a caring bunch Oh, and no-one cares how many posts HaVoC has - we'll scrub his count back to nil the next time we get a bit bored
  20. There are a couple in here... http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/?filnavn=/r.../rev_others.htm
  21. *albatross* actually say that with the Green Gas adapter installed, this gun fires at about 350 which would rule it out for Urban skirmishing pretty much throughout the UK. However, there are several gasses that are only slightly weaker than green - probably enough to bring the gun under 1 joule - it's just a question of finding one that is weak enough to be safe, yet strong enough to cycle the gun correctly. Garry - Where do you get the CO2 in bulk from? I have one of these KWC Uzis in transit to me from WGC presently and can see myself getting through a good 20 cartridges a day (
  22. Hmmmm, sounds like a solution to a problem we don't have Tedborg upon your suggestion
  23. Additional info: I am now looking to sell the gun in this review. I have somebody interested in it at £450 including all of the kit listed in the review (except a few less caps than numbered), but am open to offers. If anyone is interested, feel free to PM me to keep this thread clean. Cheers all
  24. If it does, their post count can easily be blasted down to -32,000, or their posting ability can be disabled, or their posts can be set to be previewed by moderators before they become visible, or they can be suspended, or they can be banned, or.... Well, I guess you get the idea Basically, not a problem we really need to worry about as there are a fair few weapons in the arsenal
  25. One of the things we can do if necessary is alter someone's post count. If a user is spamming just to gain post-count, we can reset their count to zero, or in severe cases set a negative value. The user in question had his post count set to a negative value by Arnie after spamming and insulting behaviour.
