I've posted this before in another thread...but anyway my M1a scout...(an eotech going on this soon)
-
wow that is like my dream 14. Man if only i had the cash to get a third of the Airsoft i wanted.
I can see tht you wanted a lot more than me... I mean you already have loads more guns than me...
-
The rifle looks lovely... I also really like the fact tht you painted the mags... it sort of makes it look more custom... like those civ contractors who buy commerial mags with fancy finishes...
-
HA. Just as I had hoped for. Thanks for taking the time to reply Mr. Bond
Dont forget to take some pics of it with your lovely ACOGs on...
-
Acutally I think I prefer the Troy SOPMOD over EBR as I like it shorter...but I just had to have select fire... Would have been a lot easier for me if STAR decided to put a fire selector in...
Anyway, the krylon paint arrived today...
Too bad they sold out the dark brown ones which means I had to use medium brown...
I was trying to copy this partly:
Now all I need is a nice sling and eotech to finish the look off...or possibly a stock if manufacturer comes out with a drop in one...

Hi,
I just noticed tht the SOPMODs came with a "pelican" looking case.. I was wondering whether they are any good... I am in the process of getting a gun case, probably a pelican but it would cost me around £140 for a case, for half the price, I can get a STAR case.. Are these cases nice? Are they strong, are the locking bits tough? Is it lockable?
Thanks...

I dunno... Importing the stock to the UK might be problematic...and then I still need to mod it, they probably have some sort of metal structure inside the stock to fix the stock tube in place which would make it hard to make a hole for the motor..even if the tube is only held in place by two screws (see the pic on the McM site) the two screws would be directly in the path of the motor... I could get the DMR stock, saw it off and try to mod it tht way but again fixing the tube would be hard since the motor and gearbox is in the way.. You will have to embed part of the stock tube to fix it in, it is possible for airsoft manufacturers who can make the composite part themself but not quite possible for modding from a existing stock..
I could just get the the DMR then hollow it and use it tht way but importing would still be a problem..
oikoik Posted Today, 12:04 AMmy bad. ive seen about two or three variations of the 'new' troy stock anyway, but they all seem to resemble this configuration..
Just saw this:
http://www.troyind.com/modular_stock_system.htm
probably wht you were thinking of...Looks nice but now that I've gone the TM way, I think I should a more traditional looking stock.. unless someone make drop in stock for the tm M14...
-
eexcellent! great pics too!
nice job!
the stock youre afer - looks like a Troy job [the star version of the troy stock i think has been discontinued. this is the SOPMOD II version, with a simpler drop-in style stock]
Actually, it's a mcmillan stock:
http://www.mcmfamily.com/mcmillan/tactical...s14.asp#options
It's just basically a DMR stock but modded with rails and a foldable AR15 compatible butt stock.
I can imagine this working with a little change in the diameter in the stock tube to fit the end of the motor (disabling the foldable stock) and then a crane stock to hold the battery.. But that's more like a dream... I will be just as happy if they just make the DMR stock for the TM M14..

wow, the M14 is smaller than I thought it was. . . or maybe that's a really big hat . . .
nice gun mate
interesting... it does looks rather small next to the hat... but i think it's just the angle...the gun is not wht u would call small...it's long and hard to maneuver around...tht y i had to shorten it..

thx
It's a ATN compact reflex sight. I think it's not quite worth the money it costs, you could save up another £60 and get a eotech...however it's a good sight, it has a light sensor tht automatically adjusts the brightness of the reticle and it has three reticle you can choose from by pressing the button. You can also get it to output the brightest setting. The thing is waterproof and solid. So overall it's nice, it's just a bit too expensive.
a little off topic...but nice gun though.1. How did you find DeeDee? Where's he been all this time?
2. Whatever happened to his small company on Arnies that made those Equilibrium pistols?
1. Through his website: http://freespace.virgin.net/voodoo.rifles/index.html
He's been making silencers for Real steels for his real company mostly I think.. But he still makes a few airsoft parts for free..
2. I didn't kno tht...Did you mean tht really long thread where he made loads of parts to give away for free?
LOVELY gun. now u used the M14 as the base correct? very nice. i'd put a scope on that thing though, then it would look sooooo deadly. anyone who would see it would soil there pants. or at least I kno i wouldthx, it is a tm M14. I was palnning to put a scope on it...in fact I already brought the scope and mounts but I think I prefer something quicker to aim with...I think I will take some more pics today with a scope on...
atm, all i can say abt it is I love it...
Is anyone having problems with the hopup screw when disassembling? Because I broke mine the first time I disassemble it... I repaired it with super glue which seems to hold nicely but it just feels not quite rit...always get the fear of it breaking again...

With the help of DeeDee, I now have a custom made 16 inch barrel and M1a scout flashhider for my m14. (however he is not going to do anymore of this so try not to bombard his email)
I have no idea why I put my 511 watch in there....
The only problem really is the fact tht the flashhider is missing three holes as this is made from the original hider and so a length of the hider at the front is need to connect the hider to the sight... hence it is 3 holes less than the real version...but since there are so many different muzzle for the real M14 there probably is one like this...
more pics to come after I spray it with krylon..
-
I should add tht deedee is not going to do it anymore so try not to bombard his email requesting for a Scout kit...
-
Nope...not yet...
To tell you the truth, the guy that's custom making my barrel and flashhider is DeeDee... and he forgot to send it on monday so i haven't got it yet...he should send it tomorrow.. but the TM barrel is in really irregular sizes so he said he probably won't make another one unless someone orders 100 of them as it's proving to be quite a hazzle to make one......see his website for details...
As for the GP one, I think it's better than the KA 1st gen in the way tht the rear mount is adjustible in height but the 2nd gen KA also have this feature..The parts all seem nices so it should be quite solid but the trades on the picture seemed a little smaller than the real one...not sure whether this is like a pre-production model or wht...
-
nope, not on the market other than the X-fire one that isn't available anywhere...
I am actually going to have mine made and get the original flashhider modded.
I should have them by Tuesday...if I am not too busy I will take some pics..
Another thing that I found (well someone told me) was that the TM M14 barrel and flashhider is actually different in size to the real one.
-
Not really since I am not going to put my bipod on anyway..I am making it into a M1a scout,(pics pretty soon)
But anyway in theory you could fill some of the space with something like eproxy resin... or you could get a block of wood, shape it so that it fits in the stock and then drill a bipod stud on to it. This would probably help to spread teh force along the stock..

I dont really know where to put this, so Ill put it here:
I just received my Prometheus 6.03mm inner barrel (509mm/M16 length) and it requires a slight modification to fit the M14;
The Prometheus barrel is about 4-5mms longer at the rear of the barrel, and the slots where the hopup clamps onto the barrel are thus put 4-5mms farther up than the stock barrel. If you plan on installing a barrel not meant for the TM M14, youll have to notch out some slots on the side of the barrel. Not very difficult if you know what your doing.
For those unsure of what Im rambling about, heres a picture:
(sorry, didnt think to get a picture of the new barrel before I installed it)
Just a heads up..
Yea, I did that and it worked. The only thing is the Prometheus barrel 's diameter is smaller than the inner diameter of the outer barrel, so if you just put it in it will wobble inside and accuracy is horrible. You will need to wrap some tape around as spacers which solves the problem completely. I also wrapped around some electric tape at the front of the hopup chamber to make the conenction with the barrel more solid..(even thou I have cut the notches to fit which should work by itself)
-
Oh yea....how can I not noticed that...
-
not really, well yes for the barrel but no flashhider...
i am trying to get one made
-
Actually I mentioned how much it was in a post above...
compared to the sopmod this is really just a medium range gun..it's far too long to be maneuver-able..
I will definitely shorten this to m1a scout lenght

I don't really have much of a problem with the eye relief. I find that if you're wearing a thick paintball mask pressing the ACOG against the lens will get you the perfect cheek weld.
what I really meant was because the m14 stock is so long, it's going to be quite uncomfortable putting my head so far to the front.
So wht's the eye relief like in cm? 2 cm? 3?
