  1. It's a gen 6 CC, foliage green:
  2. This is purely as reference here, I won't post pics here because of the rules. That said, on my E3 IWS the lower is a dark matte gray, upper is a darker black receiver, rail is dark gray/purple, gas block is dark gray with a touch of blue, barrel is quite gray. Hope that makes sense.
  3. Metal finishes are particularly tricky. For example anodizing has no true "black" it's actually dark purple or blue that's so deep a value that it appears black. So parts that appear purple'ish (KAC rails for example) don't have as thick of anodizing. Parkerizing can also give a blue appearance sometimes. Why I brought it up is that KAC is constantly changing the guns as they go, and little variances happen during production, so pegging down the EXACT look varies.
  4. The first gas block on my real SR-15 E3 IWS was a matte gray, the new one (replaced due to a bad fit) was more on the blue/purple side of the color range.
  5. Shriven, it's interesting, I've never seen the trademarks on the VFC E3 IWS. On the real SR-15 they read as Knight Manufacturing Co. (Technically it's KNIGHT'S MFG CO.)
  6. Unfortunately no they're not. From my real KAC SR-15 and SBR (both using the carbine length URX II): Left Side: KNIGHT'S ARMAMENT CO. TITUSVILLE, FL WWW.KNIGHTARMCO.COM Right Side URX II UPPER MID-LENGTH P/N-23375 I don't believe I'm allowed to post pics, so this will have to do. Hope that helps.
  7. It doesn't matter if it's right or left. The extractor on a rifle usually throws the casing backwards in a level manner, and the brass deflector usually imparts any upwards trajectory. The angle at which it spits from the gun is dependent on the speed and strength of the extractor. Technical explanation aside (since there is the real steel thread if you want to know more) but the casing is past the throw levers by the time it's out of the ejection port. So run it on any side you want. On my real rifles I've never once seen brass hit the Larue levers that are over the ejection port. Chris
  8. Just use it and they all even out. I just tried a KAC mount last weekend. I'm of mixed opinions, it's not that much lighter than the Larue, and if you're swapping between risers alot (which requires reconfirming zero) then you may be too much of a cheap *albatross* to not buy a second sight and mount. It's cool, but for the price it's a hard sell.
  9. So before anyone runs out to chrome their triple taps, the next run will use a nickle bonded finish. So it'll be gray/brown (almost all the real ones are spoken for) and the silver ones will be the initial first run only. There's really no advantage to either coating, as with use the new ones turn dirty gray from use, and the silver ones turn dirty gray from use. Even Trey Knight was saying "six half dozen or the other". But at least it means you guys don't have to chrome your brakes unless you want to:
  10. You don't. When I run my PEQ-2As/15s I run my PVS on my non-dominant eye, so I can make cheekweld and still keep the PVS clear of the rifle. However you can't use iron sights because the depth of field from PVS's is so shallow that if you focused on the rear sight of your rifle or pistol the front sight is out of focus. Hence NVGs can either be mounted behind a optical system like a standard scope or CCO, or head mounted and used with a PEQ. Also the PEQ's beam will only be visible depending on dust or smoke in the area. My PEQ-15 on high is 45mW, which is about 9x more powerful than the
  11. KAC panels don't use the same material. You're comparing the magpul's polymer to the KAC stuff. The KAC stuff discolors.
  12. Yes they are. USCM's looks like it's been shot all of 10rounds. Yeesh. Mine are solid black now.
  13. I'm gonna pretend that doesn't exist.
  14. I find my Sawtooths to be kinda stiff and overly bulky. Good boots for sure, but a bit overkill in the worst of ways.
  15. I find they run maybe a tiny bit wide, but frankly they're perfect for my feet.
  16. They run great, I wouldn't use them for long sprints like I would my Merrell Chameleons. If I had to compare 'em these would be like if you cross-bred a Chameleon with a Sawtooth and then made the build quality even better while dropping the price by half. But frankly they're great boots, hands down. Support is great for being a mid-height boot, break in took about a week before they became comfortable enough for me to want to really use them out in the field (I ran these in the Magpul Carbine 1 class and they worked perfectly). It also doesn't hurt that I can actually see Keen's off
  17. Keen VOYAGEUR MID's. Friggin love these shoes. Ran 'em in the Magpul course and they were just awesome.
  18. I tend to shoot at a fairly old-school range with fuddy range officers. So all my gear gets me rude comments on how speed it is, then I start using it and they want to try it out themselves.
  19. Probably staying black for the time being. And since I run my ear pro for practical reasons (i.e I don't want to go deaf when using my short barreled rifles) the earcuts are very nice.
  20. It's an eagle PC with cummerbund. Not the CIRAS.
  21. I'll take that as a compliment. If you guys need any real steel KAC photos or news, I'm only a PM away (to help keep this thread clean).
  22. Figured I needed something a bit more functional than my MICH for when I shoot practical rifle (real guns), so I simplified down using a PT bump helmet.
