  1. im sure the fickle hopup is probably factory grease or extra grease from silicone or lube left over from the internals. i find chinese guns are way overlubed around the hopup area, and must be swabbed and theroughly dried to grip the bb properly. perhaps that is why.

  2. hmmm, guiness could you give me the demensions of the shells. and how wide the breech is? im going to design a hard leather shell catcher that will both save shells and allow you to use stripper clips. i have tons of leather (bladesmithing is fun lol) and ill also design it to clip on and off to the rifle so it wont be permanent. im 50 bucks away from getting the rifle. my friend offered to buy me one for xmas, but i have to pay for hk shipping. lol. and im laid off. curses.

but yes if i perfect the design i will do my best to make it efficient lightwieght and as out of the way as possible. shouldnt be hard i have plenty of materials to work with. and if all goes well i can sell them at a fair price (like 25 bucks) and buy more shells once i get the rifle. :P

speaking of the shiny bolt. perhaps its to mimic the chrome lining of internals. during the 30s it was becoming popular, even the kalashnikov in the 50s benifited from chrome lined internals. but imo if you dont want it so shiny but paint wont stick simply take a wire brush wheel )which i have in my shop) or 500-800 grit sandpaper and dull the bolts look. be careful about the bolt itself tho, roughing up the actual bolt surface and not just the handle may result in a less smooth operation.

i also have a drill press (handy if you want to upgrade a vsr or perhaps the spring in these rifles) i will perform any custom work you want on these guns in exchange for parts, gear, etc related to this gun if you guys want. i really want this rifle bad lol. and since ihave a full metal shop in my garage it would be a piece of cake. just pay for shipping, i wont charge for labor, but it would be nice to recieve a donation of shells, clips, maybe some pouches. etc for my services. if your uncomfortable with sending the whole gun, send only the parts as it would be useless for me to con you with them.

im a gun tech at rhode island paintball. my friend and i were frequent shoppers there and pretty much the head of the local team HCCCRI. so the guy hired us to fix airsoft guns on occasion. so u can check both websites if your concerned if im legit. my specialty is modifying gbbs spring rifles, and custom cosmetic stuff. my friend specializes in gearbox repair.

  3. thanks so much for answering my questions. i also have a few more. if you find that the spring isnt upgradable could you show photos of the hopup and barrel. i was toying with the notion of buying one of thes guns and slapping a tanio koba twist barrel and see what the gun can do. and find out what the inner barrel length is.

but if your not up to taking the gun down that far thats cool. that idea was just circling around in my mind and i figure if fps and accuracy upgrades were a practical improvement perhaps the 5 round shell capasity can be overlooked by its performance.

also, how far does the gun shoot. and how accurate is it stock? is the spring upgradeable? :P

  5. lol :D

I've had the gun 3 days,

    ...And it's snowing here ;)

I disassembled the gun yesterday to weather and age it (ahh you know how we do  ) so I have some pics of the components etc. I"ll be sharing today.

    Slainte!

ahh. yes i too saw the spare shells on rsov. what a joke almost 10 usd for two? and no stripper clips? rediculous. its snowing? heh i guess that can make seeing bbs diffiucult. if u get desprate just take a lawn chair and drape a colored blanket and shoot at that.

looking forward to the takedown page. let us know if it takes down like real steel. that would be awesome.

    cheers.

  6. great review, but imho you focused pretty much all on the looks and the action of the gun, and not enough about the performance. so far the only info i seem to find is that its not skirmishable because of the shells. but what about the range? accuracy at longer ranges? hopup? how far does the action eject the shells? not trying to be rude, just saying that im sure plenty of ppl are wondering like myself how decent does it perform as not to buy a gun like that 20 dollar springer sks that shoots 10 feet lol.

  7. lol i remember you im the guy who wanted to trade my tanaka saa civilian with holster and wood grips for one or a luger.

well as stated in my sig. im giving my near new tanaka saa with wood grips away with my leather holster in exchange for one maruzen p38 gas blowback pistol. NOT the marushin. or a tanaka p08 4inch luger (the least expensive one) ive put less than 200 rounds thru it. its got some wear marks on the cylender hammer and trigger gaurd but it only adds to its beauty.

the orange tip is removed on the outside but not the inside of the outer barrel. however this gun isnot required to have the orange because it is a replica pre 1898. will repaint the tip if desired.

the winner of my trusty 370 fps pistol gets the gun, holster, gas adaptor and small tool. in exchange for one maruzen p38 gas blowback pistol (black) this includes shipping fees and winner must choose a 2 week max delivery service to my address. holster included is designed to protect your pistol from all harsh weather dust and other conditions. for best results keep pistol in half cock in holster so you dont expell the gas if you push the closed hammer forward)

there is nothing wrong with this pistol, i simply want to try something different. if you trade for the gun and also purchase a mint condition holster for my new p38 i will include 2 swords and one knife i have to offer of your choice FREE! (or one custom made sword free)

if you toss in wood grips along with the p38 and holster plus for it you get 6 swords from my stock im selling,2 knives and a compound bow, and 3 custom made swords.

the grips are on dentrinity.com holsters are on ebay. remember hss to be in very good/mint condition. im giving away more than twice this guns worth in swords knives and my tanaka pistol for it along with the addons.

the only offer set in stone is pistol for pistol. everything else for the goodie p38 add ons are totally negotiable. just dont try to screw me ok?im already willing to give up more than 200 dollars worth of stuff all buy itself for one.

YOU GET ALL THE FREE STUFF I MENTIONED PLUS THE TANAKA REVOLVER IF YOU PURCHASE ME A TANAKA LUGER IN EXCHANGE FOR IT.

    thats what im offering lol.
