  1. I'm obviously biased, but I prefer access to a dedicated IRC option. This enables the use of a variety IRC clients, which means we do not need to rely on a browser / java for access, and which grants access for Android / Iphone users on the move. Although the java functionality of a chatroom makes it accessible for first time and occasional users, the majority of members on the IRC channel are regulars who use dedicated IRC clients due to the superior functionality and the fact that it's a dedicated client. If you really want this function also, that's great, but I suspect this will f
  2. Back home now and once again all is well on Chrome, Firefox 3.6 and IE8. The forums just don't seem well optimised for older browsers. Glad that there is something I can do - the point about the sheer size of data compared to a new forum, such as say UKAZ makes sense.
  3. Our work terminals use a combiation of IE7 and Firefox 3.4. Firefox - no problems - some sluggishness though compared to the old forum. IE7 - so unresponsive I couldn't use it long enough to check for white spaces. If, as Panoptes stated, the UKAZ forums use the same IPB and are much more responsive, it seems odd that this is just affecting us - unless posts are still being processed in the background. Is there some sort of code optimisation that we can do, Arnie?
  4. Arnie: The image is resizing correctly here. I've also checked the forum in Chrome, Firefox 3.6 and IE8 (sadly I don't have any more outdated versions of the browser than this), and I can't replicate the white space issue Panoptes etc referred to. I'm sure it is an issue in IE7, but it looks like it must be restricted to this browser. As Tink suggested, the best quick fix I can advise is using a more up to date version of IE - those unwilling or unable to do this will unfortunately simply have to wait for Arnie to sort the issue out.
  5. I'm sorry that you don't find us up to UKAZ's standards; hopefully the forum should improve speed-wise once the background rebuilding of the PM database / old post code is completed. You could always simply stop using the forum until things improve sufficiently to meet your high standards. That said I only use this and Gunman Airsoft's forums, and I notice no noticeable delay here. Maybe it's because I use Chrome, rather than a fairly outdated browser.
  6. Cheers for the heads up - we're aware of the issue and it's on the 'to sort' list at present - for now we've been prioritising getting the old forum components (especially the old PMs) back, and then we'll get registration sorted again.
  7. Looks like the offending content wasn't so much the spam issue (others are spamming the picture thread, I have noticed), but the fact that you chose to post insulting comments about the picture for no apparent constructive purpose. Judging from the responses made to your post, I suspect another poster contacted Misfit directly and asked that he act in response. The response itself looks fair - it's just the lack of clarity in the stated reason which is confusing.
  8. It's best to contact staff directly via PM if you're unsure of the reasoning behind warning points. Ultimately it's best to remember that warning points without any other punitive action are really only of any significance to other staff to see if an individual member's general behaviour on the forum has been repetitively bad. In this case subsequent warning actions would carry direr consequences such as temporary suspensions, and, if sustained over a long period or sufficiently serious, a ban.
  9. I would not expect to see them up for another 24 hours, based upon Arnie's comments in the PM site error thread.
  10. http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=183951 In future please read (it wasn't hard to find - it was the last thread responded to in here before you posted) before starting new threads.
  11. If you're found to have a second account, you'll be banned, I'm afraid.
  12. It's a known issue that we are trying to resolve at the moment. Thanks for making us aware of it. Please remember also that duplicate accounts are an offence - we will generally ban all duplicate accounts we find unless we are first made aware of them and there are some seriously exceptional reasons for justifying a second account.
  13. English / IT and some Maths. :)

  14. It also means little, as it's quite easy to set up multiple accounts and wait. If you wish to use the sales section, you simply have to become productively involved in the community here. There's plenty of alternative forums out there for people who merely want to sell kit.
  15. It's definitely working for me - just tried again with a few members and can't replicate the error. Does anyone else have this issue?
  16. I can't emulate the problem on Chrome myself. Ironically I made the switch after installing Win 7 x64 on the new system due to the Firefox 3.6 / IPB reply error.
  17. Credit goes to Infected for linking me to the patch - I'm not claiming any glory for myself.
  18. As an update I have just discovered the same issue in Firefox 3.6. My solution? Installing Chrome. Seriously though, I'll try to give Arnie what feedback I can. I have noticed that there is numerous feedback being given to Mozilla about the issue, which suggests it is an issue with something changed in 3.6.
  19. None of us are able to replicate the bug that the two of you seem to have, so I wouldn't hold your breath on it being fixed soon. Sorry.

    Update?

The FAQ here is up to date. Arnie's instructions (which I have no control over) elsewhere are not.
  21. I'd recommend adding a copy of your review to the forum database too (apologies if you have already) - this seems to get more viewing these days. Have you tried this since the server issues were rectified today?
  22. Precisely - I'm sure there's been threads too, but it's 11pm and I have better things to do than find one to link to. Anyway, the best solution as always is to hit the report button. One of the staff will close it then as soon as possible.
  23. You have reposted a pulled thread for which your other account has been suspended. The rules clearly state that you are to post full reviews here - you are welcome to also link to the host site where they come from. This forum does not exist merely to advertise your reviews - it's a resource designed to be open to all. As you have now employed a duplicate account to get around the week suspension placed on the other for this, I will now be forced to ban both accounts and deny any further self-promotion for your site. This is a great shame and could easily have been avoided if you had

    PM problem

It has been sent. Your PM simply won't be in that section unless you track it.
