    GHK AKS74

While on my recent visit to Redwolf in Hong Kong, as unfortunately chronicled , I was lucky enough to be shown around. One of the main things that caught my eye was some of the first of the freshly released GHK AKS74 and AK74M variants, which I covered in a recent news post. I couldn't leave without buying one of them, and with my recent love of all things Afghan War era, it had to be the AKS74 I went for! The Packaging So...Finally, after beating my own GHK rifle home (I posted it on the 14th in Wan Chai, HK, and finally was able to get it today), I was keen to make sure it had sur
  2. I'm with Horseman here, really. I can appreciate the benefit spacewise, but if signatures are an annoyance for that reason, it'd probably be better to just use the options to hide them. I generally find signatures harmless enough (so long as they're PG13), and generally staff try not to be overly strict - but if people are taking the mickey - as they regularly do on other forums I visit, with 800x600 images, etc), then we tend to act.
  3. No worries. Glad it's cleared up. I'll lock this down now.
  4. If I'm honest Hedge, I think the person who contacted you was well-intentioned but clearly hadn't read the rules and regulations section of the forum here, and so thought the amendments to the rules thread was a new rule, rather than me just integrating Arnie's rules together. I know it's tucked away within the site section, but it's not that hard to find when you look at the available categories. I think in this case a general lack of awareness has left everyone getting their wires crossed and thinking a new rule in place. Just to clarify - there is NO new signature rules - just the
  5. I'm a bit confused... The rules as stated have been in place since 2004, with the text amendment being 2005. See Arnie's post here. There was no consultation as there were no new rules. I merely incorporated them into the main rules thread (and copied to its mirror) to make it easier to locate them for everyone. As I can see it, therefore, the criticism appears to have been that I've made the rules easier to locate - as it seems, judging by all of the well-intentioned posts above, that I must be the only person to look at the Rules and Regulations forum. The global moderat
  6. I was going to post, but then I realised I was pretty much going to say word for word what I did before. As MDK says, there's plenty of us about. Just report the post using the report feature, and wait for a staff member to close. It's our jobs and it won't kill anyone to wait an hour or so for a moderator to act. Thanks.
  7. Excellent review! I think I may invest in one of these as a sidearm for my RS SVD if I can't source a Maruzen GBB variant in HK.
  8. Yep. After reading through it closely I concluded that I'd been misinformed as to the real steel discussion by well meaning but misinformed folks. Already apologised in the thread, so go there for the full details. Cheers.
  9. Well chaps, looks like it's my bad on this one. I always own up when I've made a mistake, and I believe I have this time. I had several folks telling me that there was real steel discussion occurring here, and I must confess, due partly to being at work and in a hurry, I closed it down with the intention of re-opening the thread with the offending content pulled at a later date. Now that I've had time before work today to go through the thread at length, the only real steel discussion I can source is entirely fine. Pictures of real steel do not contravene the rules; though nat
  10. If you are reading this you may have noticed that the old Article Comment has been removed, with all content filtered into appropriate review categories, or here, if in response to reviews. There is still a need for some weeding out in this section, with reviews needing moving still. If you encounter any reviews please report them using the 'report' button with a quick explanation as to where they should go. This will make the chore of ensuring all threads are in their correct place much, much easier. I hope you like and enjoy the new forum structure, and found it a bit easier to l
  11. Which will be promptly ignored, along with all other announcements we make. The best advice, as stated previously, is to report posts you don't like. It's a simple rule, but it remains the most robust.
  12. Ahh, sorry. My bad - I misunderstood. There's no automatic way of preventing this. If you feel a user is getting a bit carried away, report the posts using the 'report' button and leave it to the Moderating staff to decide what's best.
  13. If people are too lazy to edit a line of html code out of their reply, I suspect they'll also be too lazy to read the rules. Sadly this is why so many people are suspended / banned in their first 100 or so posts.
  14. I love mine, but I found the gearbox to perform poorly. The compression on it dropped rapidly within the first day's gaming too the 100fps mark with .2s, and the rate of fire was vastly inferior than the Cyma gearbox in my LC AMD-65. I bought mine from gunner and the rifle was chronoing at about the 310 mark before rapidly dropping in game. Long story short, I had to carry out a field gearbox transplant. I'm planning on replacing the piston and motor with parts I'll source in HK in July. Then, fingers crossed, it'll be good as gold.
  15. Cripes, someone left positive feedback about a change for once. Where's the usual pitchfork and torch brigade?
  16. No worries. Firefox is (supposedly) still significantly more secure, but that depends on who you ask now, as the old advantage of it being a 'niche' browser has declined since a lot of organisations adopted it.
  17. Tools (top right on toolbar) > Internet Options > Security > Trusted Sites > Sites button > Type in 'http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/' and click add. If it doesn't work on your default 'trusted' setting, reduce the security tab slider to minimum and try again. That or use firefox.
  18. We used to use the Arnaholic tag as a 'thankyou' to members making donations; I'll have to see if we can restart it, as there's few regular Arnaholics around any more.
  19. As has already been said, I fear that this might be the price of success. The main issue with improving the infrastructure, of course, is that as this is a non-profit site, we rely on sponsership banners (and the past donations of those with an Arnaholic tag) to cover the server costs. We don't really want to go down the route of subscription (I can appreciate, though, why other airsoft communities have been tempted to do this for the same reason), and we're not really in the business of slamming massive adverts across the forum to get an extra bit of revenue (there's nothing more
  20. A quick plug for the return of the official Arnies Community event: For more info go to the Arniegeddon 09 forum.
  21. I'm having no issues myself. Just to check all the dull but necessary stuff; your browser / OS is up to date, etc etc?
  22. Feel free to do that. Then feel free to watch your post count made into a negative value. We don't tolerate spamming to get the 100 posts required; we're not going to let people desperate to get access to commercial sales ruin it for everyone else. If they just spam to get a 100 post count would be an irrelevant means of adding some level of security anyway. If anyone thinks someone is spamming on a serial basis, feel free to use the 'report' button. That way we can pull posts and reset / make negative post counts (depending on how spiteful we're feeling )
  23. Hrm, I don't think it would be a significant area to warrant its own dedicated section, and I really don't feel comfortable allowing this in a public section of the forum. We imposed the 100 post rule to prevent members being ripped off by one post users and the like; I really don't want to give them a back door to doing more of it. Anyway, let's see what sort of demand we get and work from there. If only a handful want it, it might be better to just use a thread somewhere everyone can access.
  24. The section would probably fall into one of the sales sections - presumably one in each, as it's unlikely that many players would wish to take part in a group buy involving for example, UK and US members. If there's sufficient demand I'd be happy to set something of this sort up. Critically though, any sort of commercial action realy should be occuring within that section of the forum. I'm not comfortable with folks setting up group buys in, say general discussion, due to the possibility of folks scarpering on a group without paying, etc.
