Holy *suitcase* I remembered my login info.
Wow um ok.
So it's been a hot minute. I used to hang out on here with Lupin, 101Matt1, Jagdraben, Magicalninjabuddy, Anteater, and a few others. Good times. Still talk to Lupin, he's a famous internet gun lawyer now with a youtube channel featured on Forgotten Weapons. We're still good friends. Matt became a doctor and lost touch. Never really talked to Jag or the others after I left. I went hardcore into the RS industry and did well for myself.
Just retired and moved to Vegas and after a night of Nostalgically watching old airsoft videos with my wife we googled local airsoft fields & stores and found an Evike outpost.
I didn't intend to buy anything but I saw an Northeast MP2 and it was pretty much game over for that plan once I handled the gun and realized it was pretty close in operation, and feel to the real thing.
I've been buying on the regular since and I'm tired of the US offerings. I want the good discontinued stuff. So I came here looking for a Buy/sell/trade forum and sadly it's pretty dead. So now I'm here reading and catching up.
Lot of good memories on this site.- 1

I'd buy a set just for the hell of it. Should market those.

It helps when you have friends who are arms distributors, they can get all types of things.... BTW how much does the civvie version cost now, I might need to pick one up...
I bought mine back when they were going for 1,600 a pop.
You can get E-4s now for 1100 or STGs for 900 OTD.
I'd rather have the STG because an AUG just isn't an AUG to me unless it takes AUG magazines.

As a mechanical engineering student, I find furniture made out of beautiful pieces of machinery to be a travesty and kind of insulting. I really hate art like this... some of those confiscated guns in the cube might even be historical pieces that belong in museums. There are all sorts of odd and unique guns that end up in the heat of conflict. <img src="http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />
The cube is interesting, but for the reasons above I abhor it. It would be cool if it was a giant cube-shaped magnet that held all of the guns on it, but it isn't, so it gets the thumbs down.
Don't get me wrong, I am an art enthusiast, I even like some modern art. However, these modern sculptures are kind of lame. All of the chairs look really uncomfortable, and has anyone heard of protective coatings? Christ, so much rust.
I see two or three rare pieces welded into the chairs and cube. The chairs, and animals are awesome.. the cube is just.. meh.
They're making AKs every day, who cares if a few examples our of a million or so produced variation get chopped up and made into bad *albatross* chairs? I'd still buy one if they were available for purchase state side. (and replace the still functional slab sided mags in it with more common ribbed steel mags hehehe..)
Hell, if Romanian AK parts kits were still $65 dollars a pop, I'd consider making a chair like this of my own. Sucks that to do it now would cost upwards of 3K.

I like tomatoes, especially when they come with AUGs...
Good luck finding a spare barrel and receiver to complete your new toy.
-
It's a trigger pack...is it for a 9mm conversion?
Match grade trigger pack 3.5 lbs pull with a Nu-trigger unit in it. Much nicer than the factory one.
I would give you a cookie, but I'm all out.. so here, take this Tomato instead.
-
spare trigger pack for STANAG mags?.... does that mean I win an AUG?
Close.
-
Meh, I really need to get rainmeter working again.

Everything pictured except the AUG receiver and green stock set came in today. Can't wait for my matching black fore-grip, and charging handle to come in.
Bonus points to the person who can tell me what the little black box sitting next to the gun is and why it's so important.

AIMS grips are the same as regular AK grips..
-
...
Field strip of a real AK as per described in my RPK's manuel.
1. Set gun to safe & check chamber
2. Remove top cover
3. Remove recoil spring guide
4. Remove Bolt
5. Remove gas tube by pulling up on locking lever
"Further disassembly is discouraged"
I can do all of the above with my Guarder AKM, so I don't see how it's unrealistic. : /

Christ, and I thought I had a lot of stuff..

Paying for stuff without Paypal (money orders) is also asking for trouble online imo.
Moneyorders are by far more secure than Paypal.
Like I told you when you bought my old JAC, "If someone *fruitcage*s with you using a money order, then they're also *fruitcage* with the federal goverment."
The Feds don't take lightly to mail fraud my friend..

Nice collection though, bet that was fun putting that bullpup kit together
EDIT: CANT READ NUTHIN AT NITE OKAYZ?
I didn't put the bullpup together..
Century Arms did.

Yeager - I love the polished Dolphin slide with the STARS lower! Is it full metal?
No, lower is from a stock biohazard M9.
I've since stripped the slide & selector mech off and replaced it with the original slide and internals.
The Dolphin kit is going up for sale soon..

I hate photo*fruitcage*it..

Aw, is Grim mad that his 9 out of 39 AIMS kits is not that exclusive anymore? Aww. Just to be nice, I'll put a 5.45x39mm magazine in it and a 7.62x39mm muzzle!
Ironically, I've got a 7.62x39mm muzzle brake on a 5.45 gun right now..
It was advertised as being compatable with .223 too..
SOOOO..
Edit:

everything right of the left wall is real..

Just make sure you pm me before you sell that lovely classic...
If I could ship to the UK without hassle I'd gladly do it right now..
Anyone still around from the old days?

You get to a certain age and you realize life is one big cycle endlessly repeating.
When I started we had Marui, CA, and ICS with the occasional boutique STAR or Guarder kit gun. Systema PTWs and YE Mp5s were for the ultra rich as were Classics. G&P solely made parts. Sunproject & CAW made launchers and shells. Milsim was always Geardos flexing their CIRAS setups and most conventional games have always been counter strike or some variation of Japanese painsoft where people just shot each other until someone gave up. Outside of Op Irene and the like you didn't really see much like you described over here.
Buying an expensive STAR SL8, UMP, Western Arms SVI Infinity, or one of the boutique custom one off guns from someone like InfernoGmBh, The Cleaners, SniperX, etc. was always a thing and viewed as a badge of honor. SVI infinities were practically status symbols. People even broke into AirsoftAtlanta and stole them. Now it's HPA guns and roided out Hicappas.... which are 2011 SVI Infinities or STI 2011s with different trades.
Like you we complained about the seemingly endless release of Armalites too. Everything was an AR or Mp5 variant. CA broke the cycle with their G36 copy and then the CA SAW came out. Before that it was TOP or Asahi or nothing for a support gun.
We're dealing with that in the RS world right now too but it's just a sign of small arms evolution. ARs are being printed in garages, sold for as little as $279.99 for a complete kit, made by hundreds if not thousands of manufacturers in America (I was in that number myself). Even the Russians and Chinese are making an Armalite copy. Most of the nations which fielded exotic small arms have gone to an Armalite of some kind or have an Armalite variant in inventory. Even the UK has formally adopted one. There is no real innovation or anything new coming out. It's all an Armalite or Glock copy.
I don't think we'll see any interesting new designs or innovations until we get mature caseless ammunition or directed energy weapons. Ultimately as much as it pains me I think the Armalite will eventually become a timeless symbol associated with humanity even more so than the AK. It's here to stay.
As far as airsoft goes who knows? We're missing a lot of guns from the modern lineup thanks to CyberGreed and Umacrooks and the PRC chasing manufacturers out. No SL8, no FNC, etc. Stoner 63 & Real Sword being gone hurts me. I wanted a Stoner 63 and Type 56 so bad. No good quality metal kits with trades anymore. There's a gigantic void there.
Prices dropped like a rock when UTG and CYMA introduced the first Marui AEG clones. Then JG came along. I even read posts here from users dreaming that used airsoft would be traded at 20% of it's original value like a video game at Gamestop. This is around the time I walked away. That's what ultimately made things more accessible as you described.
That's probably also why things felt less fragmented because of the surge in new players and popularity. I assure you though, we were fragmented and spread to the wind in the late 90s and early 00s. Arguably we're better off now than then. Back then Airsoft was a really niche hobby, now everybody knows what an airsoft gun is.
Maybe not though? With knowledge comes regulations. We didn't have to deal with CyberGreed or legislative changes like airsoft is facing now. We were so obscure that the world left us alone.
Conclusion ; the airsoft world has simply rotated back at the beginning of the cycle. What comes next IDK. Futures kind of bright, but it ain't lookin' pretty.
