  1. Rhino, is that you in the picture? I have got to get one of the Flash Gordon shirts! Flash! ahhhh, he saved every one of us
  2. Let me start by saying that is a really fantastic piece of work that you did for AirsoftGI. There is no doubt that the review you did on this site is responsible for them selling MANY of these guns. Now, for the videos! The ROF video is really unbelievable. The ROF with a 9.6 is nothing short of insane . I don't know if I have ever heard a ROF like that on the field. Thank you for all the work you have put into this project. It has taken the mystery out of many operational issues for the Star M249.
  3. I have both ACU and Multicam also and I like the Multicam better as well. I use OD over the ACU too. I don't like the way it looks with CB. Obiously, an ACU rig would look best of all.
  4. Hey Cali....all the ACU looks great. The guy on the bottom right looks to be holding a weapon with an ACU paintjob. Can you tell us a little about that? Also, what team are you with?
  5. Why don't you try returning it to complete stock form and see if you get back to 330fps.
  6. That is exactly right. It would be just as easy to remove the small tamiya from the gun and replace it with the large. The question is, will the large get enough bite on the smaller gauge wire.....or will it be loose and possibly come off. Also, is there a special crimping tool you need to use, or will a regular set of pliars work. I went to Hobbytown USA and they do not sell small tamiya connectors
  7. SUCCESS! Today I tried a 9.6 1700 mah nicad mini that I have. I know this one is high output. I hooked it up and she roared to life. Now I know how to properly feed this animal. What I don't like is the fact that they put a small tamiya battery hookup on a gun that clearly needs a large battery. I have seen that others are using adapters but I can't seem to find a ready made one in the right configuration (large male/small female) anywhere. I went to a hobby store, Batteries Plus, and Radio Shack looking for the correct pieces. I was able to find the large tamiya connectors, bu
  8. Okay, after consulting with Static and doing some checking this is what I found. I was using small type batteries from Batteryspace.com. I was using these because I don't have the correct adapter for a large to small connection. The batteries that I was using have a discharge rate of 10 amps. This really isn't close to what is needed. I will be order some 8.4 or 9.6 3300's that discharge at up to 30 amps pronto. In an earlier post it was noted that the users battery died instantly when he tried to fire the weapon. This could very well be the same exact event that I have experienced.
  9. Yeah, upon further review of my situation I am going to wait to hear back from Airsoft GI before I open the gun and take out the gear box. I am pretty much thinking it is a jam or a short. I have looked at the scematics for the gun as well as the pictures Static was kind enough to post. The gun doesn't look to be very complex as far as wiring goes. EDIT: I heard back from Airsoft GI and this is what they advise. They said that a lower power battery can cause a jam in the gear box. That would make sense in this case. They also advise that you should press the spring release button
  10. I tried two 8.4 1100 mah and a 9.6 1100 mah. I noticed that two of them got hot and other than the gun cycling 3 or 4 times the first time I pulled the trigger...i've gotten nothing since. Of course, the only small connector batteries I have are 1100's. I don't have an adapter that will let me use a large battery. I guess i'll be heading to Hobbytown USA tomorrow to see if I can get this thing going. I sent an email to Airsoft GI advising them of my problem. I'll let you all know how they respond. I have full faith in them based on the things I have read. The battery concer
  11. Okay, my M249 PARA came via UPS last night. I charged up a 1100 mah small type battery today and put in two brand new AA batteries. I loaded her up and took her outside for her trial run. I pulled the trigger and the motor went "pop pop pop" and then nothing The auto winder in the mag was just whirring away. I pulled the trigger again and the motor didn't make a peep. I went and got another small battery, plugged her up....and nothing I have looked at the contacts and they all appear to be in the correct position. I push the contact piece into the gun as far as it will go and still
  12. Lets see....it comes to you broken and there is evidence that it has been used. I guess we can all deduce that the person that used it, broke it. I would certainly hope that Airsoft GI would take care of this right away. From what others have said about their service, I imagine they will. Even still, I know that is very dissappointing. This is one of the unfortunate realities of the world of airsoft. You always have to wonder whether something is going to work when you get it, or if you will have to make repairs and modifications before you even get to use it. For the money we spend
  13. You are absolutely correct. I was confusing it with something from another thread. My mistake.
  14. What was the temperature when he cracked the box? Could be as simple as a factory defect (hopefully). I know you can crack a metal gearbox if it's cold enough, I wonder if you can do the same to polycarb.
