  1. i think the choice of silencer is a poor justification of the mags as the AKS74U was never chambered in 7.62
  2. looks really good IMO. possibly a bit too scratchy (one of the advantage of scotch brite pads), but still very good. keep up the good work with the artificial oxidising, looks to be doing the trick (although could do with a bit more IMO)
  3. presumably used parts right? where the paint has worn down through real use. dont get me wrong, i'm not saying that your wear jobs are unrealistic, it's infinitely easier to get a decent looking heavily worn look with a blued AK than with a painted one. but no AK since the AK47 has actually been blued, no russian AK at least. @cyclone TAW: with a magnesium reciever you'll have a very hard job to make it look real, as it wont 'dull' the same way as steel. odds are it will remain fairly bright. some sort of brown paint/ink wash might do the trick. most importantly, focus on the raised a
  4. excellent case there. plenty of room for tonnes of fans, great airflow etc. not sure about the cooler though, heatpipes are the standard these days. although for $2 you cant complain what happened to that koolance rig?
  5. ironically GRIM, inok/RMW/LCT are finished nothing like the real steel. they are all blued, while all real AKs from AKM onwards were parkerised and then painted. however, it is very easy to get a convincing approximation of heavy wear with a blued finish as it's not actually paint, thus the wear is more subtle and you wont end up with bare patches like artificial jobs on painted AKs often end up with. technically, the likes of VFC who use a glossy paint should be the best base for a realistic job, but real wear is pretty damn hard to approximate on a painted gun. @cyclone TAW: dont use sa
  6. soldering iron, then let your imagination run wild. theres no wrong or right way to stipple, just do what you think will look good and increase grip.
  7. CO2 is a gas as far as i know there is no CO2 SAA.
  8. it's called a scout rail, M14 SOCOMs come with them stock
  9. meh. horses for courses i guess. IMO an eotech or just about anything else would be too bulky, making the gun look overly front heavy. i think big sights like that mounted halfway along a gun's barrel makes it look like it's got a weird growth. then again lots of people seem to do this, maybe i'm the only one who doesnt like it
  10. if it was on a normal scope mount i'd agree. but larger sights on scout rails look stupid and unbalanced IMO. the T1 fits with the lines quite nicely.
  11. dont think so. theres a special one for the AK104/5, but as far as i can see it's only the front section of the top rail that's marginally shorter, so i reckon if you took a hacksaw to a standard one it would fit.
  12. i hate that stock usually but i'm rather liking that setup. the AFG really looks at home. i think black rails, possibly with tan/FDE ladder covers would look really good. possibly a contrasting butt pad and cheek rest too.
  13. kalash with RS wood? if its the stock wood you sure have done a nice job of matching the RS finish.
  14. still think a small RDS on a small rail just in front of the rear sight would fit best with the overall look of the gun, but its your gun after all. also, doesnt that VFG interfere a lot with the 7.62 mags? i would have thought 5.45 mags would be easier to use.
  15. you chould have just said new mini or BMW mini. i dont think they look too bad, i wouldnt want one mind you, nor would i want an original mini or just about anything with retro modern styling. visually or mechanically? VTEC engines are solid as can be and the S2000 topped the driver power survey survey (a survey of how satisfied car owners are with their motors) last year and has done well just about any other year. as i said, i still wouldnt own one its a hairdresser's car and a civic type R will have similar get up and go while looking better.
  16. you know dark, for a raped AK, thats kinda nice. the vert grip looks really well done. just throwing a couple of ideas out here, i think the laser looks a bit mahoosive, might look better if you find a smaller unit and clamp it to the underside of the barrel (almost MGS2 style) also i think the eotech makes it look a tad unbalanced, i think a short section of rail bolted on the area in front of the rear sight with either a doctor or aimpoint T1 would look pretty sweet.
  17. haha, i started weathering my VFC a couple of days after i got it. i was so worried i'd *fruitcage* it up. the trick is to go steady with a scotch brite pad, you have less chance of overdoing it. i havent actually tried saltwater, no need to now as the wear on my AK has dulled naturally over a long time. but in theory it should give the same effect, just gently wipe/scrub off excess rust and the steel should have dulled nicely. i've seen people give their AK the far cry 2 treatment (i.e completely rusted) by leaving it in a tub of saltwater, but i reckon a light misting left overnight sho
  18. disagree. why would there be patches missing on non protruding parts. looks pretty good as it is, maybe focus a bit on the bolt and the edges/raised areas on the sight block, it looks a bit fresh there. flolito, if that's the steel one you might want to try a little bit of saltwater to add a bit of rust. not permanent, you can rub it off afterwards just do it to speed up the metal oxidisation. the bare steel will start to dull and change colour (oxidisation) on it's own accord, but this takes a long time. i did my AKS74 about a year and a half ago and it looks much more realistic now the
  19. it's a typically girly car however you may think it looks. i quite like the S2000 and TT RS, but both are typical hairdressers cars nonetheless (maybe not so much the TT RS, but the TT is definitely) and whats an R5x?
  20. you *suitcasing* me? you think a 206CC is less girly and more fun than a cooper S? 206s are very girly indeed (no offence nicoli, although you seem to have come to terms with that ), and you're implying that a mini cooper S is NOT fun or sporty? those things go like *suitcase* off a shovel! the standard model will do the 0-60 sprint in 7.4 seconds and the JCW even faster! dont get me wrong, im no fan of the BMW mini (or even the original) but saying a cooper S is sad and girly in one breath and that a 206cc is a manly, fun and sporty in the next sounds pretty wrong. edit: swear fi
  21. as always GRIM, your pics are proof that artificial weathering doesnt have to look crappy and fake bravo i do miss your old insurgent gear though
  22. urgh. how could you do that to a G&G veteran of all things! it had a nice wood stock, what more could you have wanted?
  23. lower the price if no one wants it for what you're asking? if you dont want it theres no point in keeping it. even if you loose money on it money in your pocket is better than being stuck with a gun you dont want.
