If you're an AK purest, avert your eyes:
More pics and specs on the gun here:
not my style, but props for not putting a modstock on it. it arguably looks more unique without one (plus modstocks really dont fit with the AK's lines IMO)
-
No, as that would be classed as re-activating a deactivated firearm (even if it is a museum piece as such).
To be enjoyed for what it is basically, a beautiful old bolty
he's in the US, im pretty sure it doesnt matter over there.

thats the problem with RS wood rusmilitary has a full set of AK74 wood for £130 odd, but i can't really provide much infor other than that as i've kinda been out of the loop for the past 8 months or so.
edit: Guinness has a weathering guide. my advice is, go slowly. use a scotch brite pad, as it weathers gently and its not as easy to go OTT, the results tend to look much better than sandpaper. remember that only raised sections and edges will see significant wear. that means no bare patches on the reciever.
using a scotch brite you can just rub over the whole surface and the exposed areas that would be first to wear off in real life will wear down.
also, at first the worn sections will look far too bright and fresh. i found after many months the steel started to take on a slightly darker colour (due to oxidisation). i havent tried this but it might be worth just splashing the gun with a bit of salt water to get a bit of rust on the bars steel parts (not too much) then using some fine wire wool, gently brush/rub off the majority of the rust. that way you should be left with a darker, less shiny colour.

very nice, you're very lucky if you can find the non sidemount versions these days. i was lucky to get my aks74 without a sidemount.
might want to get some RS wood on there though, or failing that some LCT wood. sadly the stock VFC handguard's shape etc is way off.
-
oh i thought that was a typo and you meant AMD-63
didnt even know hungary had an AK63.
-
For first look yes, but take a look at the pistol grips...
Those are Hungarian grips...
i saw that too, but all of the gas tubes have upper handguard retainers on them.
-
99% look like AKMs to me.
-
better yet, buy the MAG fakelites and refinish them. do a good job and they can look very convincing. my old 45 rounders looked great, pretty close to my RS mags. mighty jebus did a great set too.

He just likes black lingerie on his
black lingerie made out of sticklebricks?
doesnt sound very sexy to me... or comfortable

Anyone know where I could get a spare lower with a rommy sidefolding stock for the latest CYMA AKs?
Either that or a stock that will work with a '74 stock tang and receiver?
nope, cyma use a realsword design with a 99% pinned construction but a screwed barrel. this makes changing receivers a tad awkward as there are no aftermarket recievers using this design.
you could always bodge a real steel stock to fit the existing reciever. other users have done so with good results IIRC.
Really? I thought that was all wood stain. Shows how I carefully I read!nah, he says to lay a cloth over it, batter it and then go over with black/dark brown acrylic and wipe off quickly so it simulates dirt gathered in all the dents and scrapes.

That's real wood on there... I'd say go with maybe Guiness' technique rather than painting it. Looks really good though.
painting it IS part of his technique

Kind of an odd question for you guys, but here goes.
Would it be possible to remove the folding stock on the Real Sword Type 56-2 and replace it with a romanian wire stock? Obviously some cutting and welding would have to be done, but how hard would it be, and how sturdy would it be in the end. I'm working on a custom gun for someone, and they are wanting a romanian stock on the gun.
Also, I'll have to bust out my camera and post up my AKs.
Thanks guys.
you'd have damn great holes in the side for one thing. also no tang to mount the new stock on. basing it on a full stock would probably be more sensible.

get out of here stalker!

Not completely steel, just mostly steel. Does RSOV still have their pictures up with magnets on everything that is steel on the Kalash steel models? I seem to remember the outer barrel and trigger being pot metal, and did they ever fix the pot metal locking mechanism?
well the trigger is part of the gearbox, not the outer shell, yes the barrel isnt steel (same as VFC) but EVERYTHING else is (unlike cyma which has pretty much an entirely pot metal front end). and yes the locking mech is steel.
awesome effort there jebus! now do that with some MAG brand mids so you wont have those ugly ribs.

Some great looking guns on here. A question a little off topic. Looking at the various retail outlets who all seem to have a huge range of AK's for sale. Which is the model most suited to the Vietnam war era???? If CYMA or Dboys/Kalash do one can you give me the model number.
realsword type 56. not cheap, but you wont get a nicer replica.
All Kalash wpns arent steel either.well the all steel ones are oddly enough
-
Is the CYMA CM048S on RSOV the full steel one? I'm looking into an full steel AKMS, and it seemed like the best option from what I've heard.
cyma isnt full steel. go dboys/kalash

I'm curious now, do you happen to have a picture of these painted mags?
not in their final state, no. i sold them on to a friend a while ago too (i'm taking a break from airsoft)
edit: of course they were no substitute for the real deal. they still felt rather cheap.
-
seconded mag.
plus with some red and orange ink, amber and red varnish and bit of creativity you can get them looking VERY close to real bakelite.
i once even had someone ask me how much my "real steel" 45 rounders set me back. the bloke was quite shocked when i said they were painted MAG
-
I thought the general concenus was that the Real Sword was the best AK you can get.
if you want a type 56 then yes.
otherwise VFC or LCT are the way to go.
-
It fires 3 bb's from 3 sperate inner barrels IIRC.
thats TM

I guess this could go here. Did it for a contest on deviantart, and for a cheerleader friend. ( She did the pose. ) Started in pencil, inked it, scanned it, and colored it in GIMP with my Wacom 'Bamboo' tablet. Enjoy.
necroquote i guess, but i cant help but notice that she appears to only have one eye

Yes, I tinted my windshield. But none of you have ever driven with a tinted windshield, so how do you know if it's unsafe or not?
50% means it lets 50% of all visible light through, and last time I checked, the sun if *fruitcage* bright.
no, i've driven with sunglasses though, i've driven with sunglasses at night for about 20 seconds for a laugh and i sure as hell dont think it's sensible driving with that little visibility.
as opposed to what? letting 50% of all visible cheese through? do you really think we cant figure out what tinted windows do? you said it yourself, you will have HALF as much light getting through. yes, the sun is bright, hence why on sunny days you see people wearing sunglasses while driving. what you DONT see is people driving with sunglasses at night, because there is no excess light to blot out. cars have headlights in an attempt to give you ample ammouns of light to drive with, if ample lighting isnt that much of a problem then why didnt they just tape a cheap torch to the front of every car?
-
you guys are obsessed with fuel economy
with petrol at about $6.90 per gallon (yes thats US gallons) and rising who can blame us?
tinting your windscreen was retarded, especially to 50%. for the same reason i dont wear sunglasses at night or a thin blindfold during the day.
and with regards to keeping the heat out, buy a sunshield for when you leave it parked in the sun and let air con take care of it once you're in the car.

foregrip without a matching upper wood gas tube, and it seemed like a better option than mismatching wood.
As for the bolt itself, what would you recommend? I can't really see a difference.
mismatched wood isnt exactly uncommon.
you could always do the bolt yourself, create the step at the back with a hacksaw and file and then paint it black

mmmmm, type 3 AK47.
always did think the inokatsu was the only AK47 worth having (aesthetically), i'd been wondering how long it would take LCT to bring it back from the dead.
