  1. I'm not 100% sure but I think it might be an Eagle PC without the cummerbund. It's pretty hard to tell from the picture above, but from this one (same guy, if the captions are correct) it certainly looks like an EPC from the back:

  2. Hey Skyflash, do you keep an online archive of your photos? Your earlier CAG pictures in particular were excellent but they're not visible any more.

    Anyway, here are my packs:

Camelbak BFM in OD. Holds all my gear including my MICH.. except for my repro PACA because I can't bring myself to fold it to get it in!

Blackhawk Slimline Load Bearing Pack. Now I just need an Omega medic vest to attach it to.. <_<

Thinkpad Backpack. Standard IBM issue, don't ya know!

  3. Yeah, like I said before, it seems as though OD gear over DCU or tan flightsuits is most common during training ops and older pictures (just to put a number on it, lets say 2000 .. 2002). OD over woodland is, I dare say, more common but even then it tends to be CB or Khaki over woodland. But honestly, an OD RRV is going to cover up most of the tan PACA anyway and I'm sure it's going to look pretty awesome. I figure.. if you can't replicate a load out exactly, there's nothing wrong with doing the next best thing and replicating it in spirit.. as long as you make it look good ;)

As for the BHI harness, I got the TRH (it's the more expensive - and secure looking - of the two harnesses BHI offer). It's one size fits all and pretty comfortable without being constricting in a place where, well, you don't want to get constricted! Apart from the price, the other thing that persuaded me to try it over something like a Black Diamond harness was the fact that the leg loops were on the inside of the leg so in theory wouldn't interfere with the straps from my safariland. In practise it hasn't quite worked out like that but I'm happy enough with it.

  4. I would have agreed if you said that one or maybe two years ago, but nowadays it's definitely in use on deployment.

I guess that goes to show that most of the PJ pictures that can be found on MilitaryPhotos or even on the Pararescue.com site are lagging behind a bit - but this is actually good news for me. Now I don't have to replace the stock on my M4 :D

  5. It will probably look okay over US Woodland, but not so much over DCU. It's only in the older photos (and also, training ops) where you tend to see PJs wearing green gear over DCU so my advice would be to bite the bullet and get an RRV in CB. Looks fine over Woodland, DCU and UCP ;)

Also, I finally got my own harness today (thought I'd try the BHI Tactical Rappelling Harness since I found one for a good price on eBay). My first pass is almost complete!

  6. Welcome to the party! Most of your questions are probably answered here.

Some things I didn't mention in that post are that you can find some good PJ-inspired airsoft loadouts on the SNAFU forums, and as for the protecs.. I think I've seen both the regular and full cut in use but I'll check for references.

Edit: Oh and contrary to what I said in my other forum post, you hardly ever see PJs with crane stocks. Mostly it's just the standard or LE style ones.

  7. ..and now for something a bit different. No fancy grips or metal body kits here (much as I'd like them).. just the Double Eagle AEP, an Insight M3 and a Safariland holster. My only wish is that there was a lanyard loop on this thing.

  8. Hey for a loadout sponsored by BULLE, that's pretty cool! Definitely looks better with the MICH, and I'd probably remove those giant tags off the admin panel and the cocoon pouch! The blast belt looks a bit strange under the groin panel though :D

  9. OK back on track. Anyone got a relatively cheap CCT\TACP pack recommendation (nonALICE) ;). Links would also help.

    ERA: Early afgan war.

Well if you are on a budget and since you are in the US, there is always the Condor 3 Day Pack which is their copy of the Camelbak BFM

  10. Need a better picture (or I should stop using the camera on my mobile and just use a camera) but this represents most of my gear, to be worn over US Woodland and Tri-Colour. You can probably tell what sort of loadout it wants to be when it grows up:

EDIT: Oh, and if anyone has a 2 piece TT Mav + X Harness in Khaki for sale, or I guess a Bulle MLE, please let me know ;)

  11. I've seen more and more of those modified HPC's over the last couple of months. I may well change mine since it's a size small, and even at the maximum adjustment it rides too high for my liking, especially with soft armour underneath so swapping the metal triglide for the buckles should add an extra inch or two. Anyone know what other modifications have been made?

  12. Seems kind of a long shot but does anyone know if a 6004 holster for an M9 with M3 light will take the Double Eagle M84 AEP, with or without light? Although the M84 is supposed to be a reproduction of the M92 Elite IA, I've heard that the dimensions of the frame are a little off and it won't fit in a 6004 holster for a standard M9 (or maybe that's just because of the rail).

Alternatively if anyone in the UK has a 6004 holster for an M9 with M3 light and wouldn't mind me borrowing it so I can find out for myself, please let me know :D

Externally I'm happy with this (well apart from the dial that seems to have falled off the PEQ - didn't even notice until I took the pictures) but there are still a few kinks to work out internally.. mostly with the hop. Next project is a USAF spec M4.

  14. Well they..er..look good once they are in a radio pouch. The problem is, you can't get to your radio to change the channel or the volume while it's in the TS MBITR, and if it's carried on your back (which I advise, because the plastic isn't all that strong. Go prone and you'll probably crush it) it becomes even more of a pain in the *albatross*. Of course, when you're doing an impression, it's all about the look ;)

  15. My two more or less identical lids with comms.. both Bulle MICH 2000s, with MSA chinstraps, G&G NVG mounts, goggle retention straps from Supply Captain and the G&P speedloader / strobe replica (and damn, I missed a genuine one on eBay for £13!). ESS Profile Turbofans, TS MBITR replica, Cavalvy headset and the wallet-friendly Peltor 6S.
