I wish I could say this surprised me, but it doesn't. Governments in countries like that won't allow aid workers to do the job themselves as it makes the government look like they have failed, so they take control of everything themselves. Once they have control, they can't be bothered to actually do the job properly and would rather make a quick buck.

That's not the only thing. There's rumor spreading about that the reason why our government acted so slowly was because they were waiting for foreign and private aid to come in first. Reason being was that the funds and supplies for immediate disaster aid had long since been liquidated and pocketed.

The author of that was probably annoyed in the main part that a penny of British funds had gone to.. you know.. helping people in a terrible situation.

.300 marked only. Sort of the western equivalent of 9x39.
