  1. because its genetically impossible for any western woman to be stupidly needy, of course

i have mates with brit GFs who are very similar to what you described. its hardly a trait unique to a certain area of the world ;)

    I disagree.

I happen to be part of a community of people who spend a lot of their time working abroad.

It's a well-recognised fact amongst that community that asian WAGs are more whiney.

There's more chance of an asian wife phoning their man because there's a spider in the bath than there is of a british wife phoning because the house has burned down.

This is a kinda prickley subject but, hey, you asked.

Trouble is that asian women might well grow up all independant and savvy and tough but when they marry a western guy a lot of them seem to assume the guy is going to look after them.

I often wonder if the girl would be the same way if she married an asian guy instead but that's kinda pointless since I can only base my POV on being a western guy.

From that POV, asian girls are far too needy.

  2. stupid stereotypes, just like all british drink tea and all americans are obese etc.

although, to be honest i've never heard of Asians being fundamentally more needy.

Stupid assumptions with no factual basis.

I know a lot of guys who're married to asian women and they continually have to field phone-calls asking about, well, pretty-much everything.

Have your wages gone into the bank yet? What's that £500 withdrawal from the account? There's a tap leaking in the bathroom. have you called a plumber? There's a bulb blown in the living room. How do I fix it? have you applied for a new car tax disk? Did you pay the phone bill?

Obviously this is because I'm a westerner.

When asian chicks latch on to a westerner they are usually looking for security and support.

Asian chicks will take care of your every need but you damned-well better take care of them to.

Frankly, I want an equal partner in a relationship, not an employee.

  3. Old J cars are awesome, same level as MK1 Golf's

    Not quite.

1970s jap cars were seriously poorly made.

Jap's didn't understand what sort of steel was needed to survive European winters and the cars rotted away in minutes.

Also, they always felt that form was more important than function and, as a result, most of them had badly underpowered engines.

They hit on a couple of "classic" designs but for every 240Z there were thousands of total sh*tboxes on wheels.

I think thats a new car given a retro make over, you can tell by the shape of the wind screen...

That's what I figured it was.

It's not just a coincidence though, IMO.

There's a lot of styling cues taken straight from a 1970s Datsun so I assume it was built as some kind of tribute.

  4. whoa whoa wee wow

1st, i was epic failing at the wtf is a M16 doing in here comment.

2nd, I think the burst markings were cool as hell because I thought they were legit.

    lol

    Right ho.

    That's fair enough. :)

I hope others take note that leaping into something that's none of your business only serves to confuse and inflame things. :waggle:

  5. FWIW, I got bored the other day and chopped up the front of my F2000 to try and fit a fake () gas block in there.

In the process I've already fitted a proper outer barrel into the receiver and am currently in the process of butchering an M4 front sight to build the actual gas block.

I've also figured out a way to make fire-selector work like a P90 but I dunno if I will bother doing that straight away.

Anyway, I'll post pic's in a couple of days, hopefully.

    *EDIT*

    Just to address this...

The true question is here, does it really matter?

I just want to say, yeah. It DOES matter.

I don't think it's fair or polite to label something as "EPIC FAIL!!!!" because of a tiny issue which isn't even the fault of the owner.

Let's not forget that what some people are doing, here, is criticising a gun because it DOES have authentic markings.

I'm sure that if this were the USMC thread, for example, and somebody had altered the trade's on their "blaster" to feature authentic burst markings they'd be congratulated for their efforts.

    Gotta love that hypocrisy.

  6. Lay off him, don't tell him what he has an issue with, he just dislikes the markings on the receiver. Nothing wrong with that, and yeah, some people care about markings while others care about......other stuff. Does it mean he is wrong, no.

Personally, yeah.... I think the 3 round burst marking is lame. Auto gun = Auto marking.

Oh, so you don't like the idea of authentic trademarks?

    That's a first.

    How's that work?

Is it okay to put Colt or H&K or other brand names on a gun that isn't actually made by them?

Would you rather the fake gas adjuster was removed from an airsoft M249?

Must be a helluva grey area for you there.

Fact is that the majority of airsoft products contain some feature that are fake or incorrect or non-functional and I don't see our buddy going around making demeaning comments about all of them.

THAT is why I pulled him about his comments in this specific thread.

  7. lol EPIC FAIL

Those actually say burst instead of auto correct?

How exactly does that qualify as "epic fail"?

You have the same problem with all the MP5s that feature burst markings on the grip or, maybe with the SR25s, G3s, SL8s and SL9s that all feature no auto marking at all when the gun will actually fire in auto?

Geez, if slightly dodgy markings are "epic fail" it must be eating you up inside that these guns have a forward-assist knob that does nothing and it must be killing you to look at that fake bolt catch right there next to those "epic fail" trademarks.

Or maybe there's something else going on here?

  8. Well my semi works fine with the spacer kit?

I suspect that proper gear timing has something to do with it. It used to do an almost perfect two round burst everytime, sometimes three, the trigger was pulled. It annoyed me so I sat down with it one day and played around with the timing on the gears untill I got it right.

I do get the odd two burst every now and then but not for a while now.

There's no such thing as gear timing.

The reason your gun shoots bursts in semi is because the trigger cut-off lever isn't working properly.

This, in turn, is because the trigger contacts are rather halfassed and the cut-off lever sometimes fails to dislodge them after a single shot.

As you shoot the gun it causes vibration and this will, after a couple of shots, dislodge the trigger contacts.

G&G/Army L85s are very sensitive to changes.

If I shoot mine on a 9.6v battery the gun rarely fires in semi.

If, however, I shoot it with an 8.4v battery semi works almost perfectly.

The change in ROF is obviously enough to stop the cut-off lever working.

There are changes you can make to the trigger mechanism to improve things.

  9. While I agree with the point that its not the piston material that is the problem. I do not agree on your interpretation that its the gears spinning and eating into the rear teeth (I believe we have had this conversation before)

    The reason why is because:

    - PSG1 works on the same piston/gear ratios and do not have those issues on 300fps power springs.

    - A stock G&G/ARMY piston on an M130 still chews pistons, indicating its something else.

A PSG1 only shoots in semi.

The first couple of shots from any AEG, especially with a marginal battery, will be slower than subsequent ones.

You can check this for yourself by recording bursts of fire and reviewing the sound with suitable software.

What was probably happening with the G&G L85 was that the first couple of shots were fine but shooting a burst would result in damage as the speed of the gears picks up slightly.

Anecdotal evidence seems to support this.

I've met several people who bought a G&G L85 and claim to shoot mostly in semi with no problems.

Later on they'll report back that their gun snuffed it after shooting in auto.

All things being equal, this shouldn't be an issue since the pre-cocking system requires the piston to cycle after every shot, even in semi.

Thing is, this doesn't consider the way gears speed up as the first 2 or 3 shots are fired.

I do agree that using the 16 tooth piston mod is a good long term mod for serviceability, but it disables semi-auto, which is not a good thing in some countries.

    Disables semi?

    Nope.

It will disable the pre-cocking if you use a marui sector gear but the gun will still shoot in semi.

    Why wouldn't it?

Course, the trigger cut-off system on the G&G L85 is also pretty terrible but that's another story.

Grinding the 2nd tooth and changing the slope of the 1st pickup tooth is the best "functional" option, but is not good for those with less than novice gunsmithing skills.

Shaving the first couple of teeth can help with the piston problems.

Personally, I think it's better to swap to a 16 tooth piston simply in order to make the gun more standard.

  10. It's less likely that this piston will strip, if the stock piston strips you can say that's because it's plastic, if this one does there is something horribly wrong with the gb. Cmon, dont nitpick, this is the only reinforced piece out there.

Point is that these guns DO NOT damage pistons simply cos the pistons are poor quality.

They damage pistons because the gears spin around before the piston has completed it's cycle and, as a result, the sector gear ends up smashing the first one or two teeth off the piston.

Replacing the piston does nothing to stop the problem happening.

The simplest way to stop the problem is to run the gun with 7.2v batteries. This slows the gear speed down so the sector gear doesn't spin fast enough to catch the piston while it's still moving.

The rather sneaky way that G&G got around the problem was to fit an M130 spring so the piston moved much faster than it would do with a 1J spring.

Some people have managed to get around the problem by shaving the first and 2nd teeth so that the sector gear can spin underneath the piston as it's still moving.

Fitting Marui gears and a 16 tooth piston is not really designed to simply "fix" the original issues.

It's designed to get rid of the whole pre-cocking thing and fit the gun with standardised parts which can be upgraded more easily.

  11. http://www.rsov.com/index.php?target=produ...product_id=3854

I believe it will make the spacer mod obsolete, mine is in the mail, i'll put it in and come back with impressions.

Oooh, an 19 tooth piston with metal teeth?

I believe it will make people damage gears instead of pistons and, once they've damaged their original gears, they'll be FORCED to use a 16 tooth piston because they won't be able to find replacement G&G-style gears.

  12. Anyone recommend any sites that equip upgrades for the L96, perhaps even sites that carry out the upgrades (or do you think I should do it myself?).

Finally, how do the silencers fit on the barrel? How will it effect range/accuracy? I'm not entirely sure how they affect the guns in airsoft as its only my second weapon :)

There are very few "cheap" upgrade parts for the Maruzen Type 96 / Warrior 1 / Well L96 / UTG L96.

Most of the stuff you need to upgrade any of the above L96s will be parts designed (and priced) to suit the original Maruzen Type 96.

As such, it's just a case of sniffing around retailers such as WGC and looking for suitable parts.

A new trigger block should be top of your list, followed by a new hop up and then cylinder/piston upgrades.

The only relatively cheap upgrade available is the hop-up sold by Hexagon Products.

It's alright and certainly better than the unit sold by PDI.

I wouldn't bother paying a shop to carry out the upgrades for you.

Setting up an L96 is rather fiddly and time-consuming.

Any shop you pay to carry out the upgrade will probably just toss the parts in and send the gun back to you, leaving you to do all the setting-up when it's returned.

In that case you might as well just fit the parts yourself and then sort out all the set-up as well.

There's no easy way to fit a silencer to the standard barrel.

You need to buy a thread adaptor (again, one suitable for a Type 96) which'll give you a standard 14mm -ve thread to screw almost any silencer onto.

Bear in mind that as well as buying the thread adaptor you'll also probably want to purchase an L96 flash hider of some sort to fit when the silencer is removed.

I could list all the parts you need but it's really not worth the effort.

Simply go to WGC (www.wgcshop.com) and enter "type 96" in the search box.

There's only a couple of dozen upgrades and accesories available for the L96 and it's easy to find what you want by browsing.

  13. yea....about that, no one really taught me the difference I just kind of fit them, but it worked just fine for the other three screws...but who uses such small ones anyways, even one that fits easily strips it... BTW, I figured SAE was some american system as is the norm with metric vs. stupid american systems...someone feel like explaining this to me? And yea I kinda rushed it and in hindsight shouldnt have gone so far...sigh...

    We all live and learn.

Top tip: if you strip an allen screw you can often repair it by using a hammer to CAREFULLY flatten the head slightly.

The idea is that the allen screw will distort outwards and by tapping the front face of it you can kinda squeeze it back into shape by tapping on it.

If this works the smart thing to do is replace the screw once you've removed it rather than using it again.

currently you can buy sets of flat-headed drifts to use for knocking pins out of GBB M4s.

These also come in handy for bashing on allen screws that're in hard to get to places.

  14. Drake, that's quite a pair. Nicely done! Have you considered a flip up front sight/gas block like a replica of the ARMS or VLTOR ones? Just wondering.

I recently had this dilemma myself.

I prefer the way my ICS M4 looks with a 7" DD rail on it and the original foresight assembly.

Thing is, there's always the chance you'll want to fit something to the top rail which needs to slide on.

The OEM foresight makes this almost (I guess you could slide it on from the back of the receiver and work it all the way to the front of the rail - if everything is lined up right) impossible so it had to go.

I replaced it with a VLTOR front sight.

  15. Couldn't help noticing, at around 0:28 into part 3 of that video you show the view of the gearbox through the opened buttstock.

In that shot the gearbox is clearly leant over to the left.

    What's that all about?

Seems like this is gonna make for a lousy air seal between the nozzle and the hop-up.

Also, yeah. No need for all the arguing.

It's clear the OP isn't totally at ease with tools but there's plenty of stuff in there that wasn't caused by mis-use of tools.

Having said that, I did laugh at all the stuff related to the stripped allen screw.

The OP removed the foregrip screw with an imperial allen key (the yellow one) and was later seen removing the smaller screws with a metric (grey) allen key.

As a rule, companies don't put imperial and metric stuff on the same item.

That screw probably got mangled because you tried to use a 1.5mm allen key rather than a 1/16" one. ;)

  16. I cant muster the strength to respond, but I think there are 2 2week suspensions that prove your statement wrong. Maybe I'm misreading what your saying?

    Yes, you are.

BBR was trolling and I posted to ask/tell him to pack it in and no further action was taken against BBR.

2 known trouble-makers posted to debate the issue and were suspended in order to minimise further derailment of the thread.

Further off-topic posting resulted in the thread being closed.

I think you've made your opinion perfectly clear and, given that we're now repeating ourselves, it seems there's little else to add.

  17. Firstly I corrected his misunderstanding and secondly I gave an example of where he had done exactly what I was talking about. I wasn't rude or unfactual.

Firstly, there WAS no misunderstanding because, secondly, I didn't issue any formal warning.

The comment I made WAS the total extent of any punitive action.

If you need an analogy, it's like receiving a b*llocking from a cop rather than getting a speeding ticket.

  18. In general, it's usually better to control warning points manually simply because it gives us more flexibility.

Pretty much whenever I look at a thread I will check the warning points of any member I'm not familiar with.

If it turns out that the person has old WPs for selling >1J guns or for discussing >1J guns or any other reason that is now obsolete I will remove them all at the same time.

Alternatively, if a person starts off here with a poor attitude and runs up several warnings they might also be deleted all at the same time once it becomes apparent the person has relaxed and chilled-out a bit.

By contrast, if a person is guilty of a serious breach of the rules or guilty of something malicious then WPs may never be removed.

Some people would take advantage of an automated system to choose when and how often they can get away with poor behaviour.

Regarding "past history", the only thing mod's have to go on is the warning points panel and their ability to search through a persons previous posts.

Erasing WPs, as opposed to negating them, is impractical since it would make it impossible to check if a person had already been issued with a penalty for some offence and it would also remove a mod's abilty to easily check if the person has previous form for a given infraction.

The obvious ones are generally the correct ones. Especially the third one.

Conflict of Interest, I love that one. Anything that detracts from a position of neutrality, then get the sweet bejesus out of there!

There's a problem with that which we're seeing here though.

Once a moderator gives any member warning points, or expresses displeasure at a members actions, they are open to accusations of prejudice when that most likely is not the case at all.

People seem to think that I have some "issue" with Titleist and that's the reason I have "persecuted" him.

That's not the case at all.

To be perfectly honest, the only reason Titleist was suspended was because I had already issued the suspension to Whomper and it would have been unfair not to issue a similar warning to Titleist.

I am slightly baffled why a person, or group of people, who don't indulge in airsoft choose to make use of an airsoft forum but, as I keep telling the people who PM me on the subject, we accept their choice to continue making use of the place.

  19. EDIT: Oh and just to be clear, Titleist isn't a republican, just because you like guns and gun rights doesn't make you a "republican idiot" In fact from my conversations with the man I think he is quite liberal (as am I). I know he has told me he voted for Obama. Theres another dagger in your argument I guess.

Erm, I'm making the same face now.

EDIT 2, OH GOD MORE: How is a 2 week suspension for questioning your professionalism "a relaxed, flexible, approach to infractions"? Man If you look at my avatar, thats the face I am making man.

The problem, IMO, is that because we try and act in an informal manner as often as possible a lot of people, including yourself, seem to feel shocked and victimised when we DO insist on the cooperation of forum members.

Again, on the basis of their past history, the two members in question were dealt with in a way designed to minimise further disruption of the forums.

When that failed the thread was closed in preference to simply suspending further people.

  20. But the point is they continued for a few posts and stopped before the warning points were even issued! Besides why are you bringing in an entirely separate incident in a totally different thread?

    I'm not.

MCXL mentioned it and it reminded me of another example of a time when Titleist and Whomper took it upon themselves to attempt to undermine a thread they didn't approve of.

That's all there was to it for me. You'd need to ask MXCL why he was discussing it.

He was objectively being an idiot. I also apologised for it without him having to complain! Besides which it doesn't make it any less acceptable when I do it!

It demonstrates that we have a relaxed, flexible, approach to infractions.
