  1. Phew,

Guys, please keep the discussion reasonably on-topic.

I just had to go back and read some of SuperKingBigNuts'posts to find out what all the fuss was about and, frankly, it gave me a head-ache.

If I have to deal with any more posts of the same quality I'll probably just put him out of my misery by suspending him until he learns how to spell properly and we don't want that, do we?

  2. Coincidentally, the flying pig makes a return...

    DSC_2358.jpg

My JLS F2000 which I took to bits last christmas to make a few minor alterations to and I just got around to rebuilding it, along with a nice new OD paint job.

I wanted to put a new flash-hider on it (which I haven't yet done) and one thing led to another and I ended up fitting an M16 outer barrel to it, just to give me a 14mm -ve thread on the muzzle.

Chopped the receiver about a bit.

Opened up the ejector port (and then glued a lump of aluminium plate in behind the opening) and carved up the front in order to make it a more authentic shape.

I built a fake gas block out of an old biro and a CD box all glued to a chopped up M4 front sight then painted.

It's not perfect but it looks okayish.

Better than it used to anyway.

    Family portrait.

Cheeky little FN logo stuck on stock to cover the hole left where a nasty sling mount used to live.

Also replaced all the screws with some allen bolts and finished it with OD and black krylon.

Oh, I hacked off the cast front sight too and then thought it looked a bit odd without a front sight so I made one out of a laser mount from a cheap springer.

It'll do until I can source a proper one.

If anybody spots a proper F2000 front iron sight for sale anywhere, I'd love to hear about it. :)

Oh, and it takes midcaps with no problems. :P

  3. Quick heads-up for people, before this thread really gets rolling...

Please post your P90 and SCAR pic's in their specific threads rather than here.

It makes it much easier if people looking for pic's of FAL's, F2000 and whatever else don't also have to wade through squillions of pictures of P90s and SCARs here when they already have their own threads.

    Thanks. :)

  4. Nope, I don't wear thinght jeans or bullet belts, I hate stereotypics. I just mean that I don't like the look of M14.

E: I didn't mean to be rude. Change scopes place and it's cool. But hey, it's your gun.

I'm pretty sure most people position their scope for optimal eye relief rather than to make the gun look cool. ;)

  5. Just to add, it's not just that we're worried about deliberate scammers.

We enacted the 100 post rule because we were getting heaps of people joining the forums and then offering fake rolex watches or dodgy Nike trainers for sale.

It's not that we assume new members are scammers. The rule prevents all sorts of dodgy eBay cast-offs getting flogged here.

  6. I can't believe you value your eye sight at $30....!

I value my eyesight at about £3 for the Arco safety glasses I wear at work.

It's not safety that's expensive. It's pose value.

I'm really not sure what the point is but there's wrong when you can buy perfectly adequate eyepro for under a fiver and yet walting on the cheap can risk your eyesight.

  7. Thats because Guarder C-3's and ESS glasses & goggles are designed and marketted as eye protection.

    Are they?

The last Guarder glasses I bought (and they were the last ones I bought, if you see what I mean) had a slip of paper in the bottom of the box saying "This is a novelty item only and should not be used as eye protection".

Protection ratings are designed to protect against a single impact, not 2, not 3 and not 23. I wouldn't be surprised if my Oakley Juliets shattered after 23 BB's in the same place.

So, given that it's entirely possible that you WILL receive multiple hits during a skirmish, I assume you'd never use your Oakleys for skirmishes?

    Never sure about Oakley stuff.

Everybody (including Oakley) seems to claim the lenses are impact rated but, AFAIK, part of the rating system insists that any rated lense MUST actually be marked with the rating and the Oakley glasses I've seen don't actually have anything stamped/molded into the lenses.

Your expectations of these goggles are whats at fault here.

Yeah, buying a pair of goggles from an airsoft retailer and actually expecting them to protect your eyes. What a noob eh?

I bet he's the sort of guy who buys skis from a ski shop and automatically assumes that means they're suitable for, y'know, skiing.

  8. Just to add some random thoughts...

Back when I used to lasertag we had issues like this.

The problem there was that the games were "scripted" to suit one team and the other team were, basically, just "bit players" for the other side to take shots at.

Sure, you'd be given objectives and specific tasks but you weren't actually supposed to win. You were supposed to fit in with the overall script.

Quite often, as a result of playing a bit too competitively, the organisers would have to kill a bunch of us off with "chemical weapons" or a "minfield" or whatever else they could think of.

I have know idea what happened during this event but it seems as though Nazio, at least, feels as though this is what happened here.

Anyway, moving on, let's not get too antagonistic towards each other, eh?

If Nazio has constructive criticism to offer then perhaps it should be taken on board rather than simply rejected?

Equally, if Nazio's team, for whatever reason, didn't make the most of their opportunities during this event then perhaps somebody needs to look at how objectives are explained and how teams are motivated toward completing them?

OTOH, if Nazio's team were supposed to be just "cannon fodder" for the other team then that needs looking at too.

Let's face it, the tactics used by the Taliban out in Afghanistan have made life damned hard for western troops who possess superior equipment so if a similar balance isn't being achieved during a milsim event then you've obviously got that balance wrong somewhere.

  9. Fair enough, sarcasm is bad.

But what about: "From the perspective of the serious airsoft sniper it's an useless and pointless feature"? Was that called for? I'm just saying "it's the opinion of some people in Japan that magazine placement is important". That's not an opinion, that's me reporting a fact that to the best of my knowledge is true.

I don't claim to be a "serious airsoft sniper" I'm just saying what is happening in the Japanese market, again, to the best of my knowledge.

I have been belittled and ridiculed for being Japanese (I'm not even Japanese) called a "geardo" or some weird person who only shoots sniper rifles in his room. And the moment I stop to point out someone's arrogance regarding their status as a "serious airsoft sniper" I get slammed.

    Perhaps I'm missing something here?

What you've been is busted for having a duplicate account.

  10. I love it when you people talk like that.

I guess all those Japanese airsoft snipers in Japan are just noobs. They're not important. TM should just forget about them and design guns for "serious airsoft snipers".

Translation: "I don't think the issues you mentioned are as big a deal as you're suggesting. I think this because...."

I dunno if all the cool kids on your regular forum think it's clever to simply belittle other peoples opinions but around here we prefer a less antagonistic approach AND it really helps if you can support your own opinion with facts rather than just sarcastic comments.

    We clear? :waggle:

  11. How many of them are actually yours?

And what's with counting mags and/or bolt (rail mounted) parts? Back in the day it was about parts that were hard onto the gun, not lasers and lights and VFG's and scopes. But then again all you'd need to break $1k is a WA pistol, full metal kit, steel chamber/barrel/hammer/sear.

Sorry dude, but it's supposed to be parts on a gun. If everyone grabbed enough parts that added up to $1K and just through them into a pile, then this thread would be kinda pointless.

    Indeed.

Frankly, I'd be all for adopting ThaFlash's idea and not counting anything rail-mounted towards the cost.

After all, who wants to see a $20 LPEG with a PVS14 bolted to it?

Seriously, the idea of this thread (to me at least) is to show of super high quality builds. Not just showcase who can write the biggest cheques.

  12. My son last year getting in to mood

Is he really all pixelated and blurry?

Seriously, WHY do people take cr*ppy quality pictures at stonking resolutions???

I bet if that picture was taken at 800 x 600 resolution it would look ten times better.

It'd still be terrible quality but at least it wouldn't be so obvious.

  13. My ancient "Ship of Thebes" CA M15A4 is easy cost me over $1000.

$325.00 base price for gun (bought it in 2002-2003 I think)

$150.00 worth of upgrades I had put in right away (Basic package, M120, Promo thightbore, re-shimmed/bushing's changed, and upgraded wires).

    $200.00 G&P Metal Body

$70.00 (I think) CA RIS w/ rail covers and grip

    $70.00 for M4+ Barrel (405mm iirc)

    $150.00 HurricanE CLT Body

    $189.00 Systema FTK M4 M150

    $60.00 Deepfire V2 Gearbox

I hardly think a gun qualifies if you need to take into account parts that you fitted then subsequently replaced again.

  14. The real KAC turns black anyways after use....

TBH, I burned the front of mine with a blowlamp and then laquered it [/geek] but I don't really want to post pictures of that cos I'm not sure making a gun look realistic, like that, is totally wise idea.

Something weird happened on the real ones when they went to black, it bumped out the outer diameter just enough to mess with the real suppressor.

Maybe a bit OT but wouldn't the black ones suffer with the same problem too?

In that case maybe the nickel ones would be better cos at least you can see how badly they need cleaning?

Unless, of course, the black ones don't have the same problem.

  15. It did come with the KAC TTB FH. I'm actually thinking about getting it chromed. I've made a couple phone calls yesterday but the shops requires a minimum volume before they take on a job. ANother option I'm considering is spray paint it with chrome, probably not gonna get the best result.

    I felt the same.

    DSC_2204Medium.jpg

I bought a cheap KAC f/h from EBB and just stuck a 6mm bolt all the way through it, tightened a nut onto the back and then stuck it in a drill and attacked it with some 800 grit emery paper then cleaned the paint out of the recesses with a dremel with a wire brush attached.

There is no screw. I heard the Evike ones came with red loctite, and I have had experience with red loctite, but this is like removing solid welding <_<

If there's no screw then obviously what I said doesn't apply. I was responding to what lambolurker was talking about.

  16. Use a gas stove and a wrench or a screwdriver. That's how i got mine off my WE M4, which i blue loc-tited.

To address the chain of posts that led to this, if your f/h is held on by a grub screw then you definitely DO NOT want to simply removing using force with a wrench.

At best you'll chew up the 14mm thread on the muzzle and, at worst, you'll bend or snap something.

If somebody's damaged the head of the grub screw so it can't be removed you can try drilling it out but, frankly, it's likely that the grub screw will be the hardest metal anywhere on your gun.

In that case I'd accept that the f/h is "sacrificial" and just attack the grub screw with a dremel cutting disk, cut several slots through the f/h and grub screw until the grub screw disintegrates and then just remove the hacked f/h and replace it.

  17. ^I second that. Here's my review for the HS and HT motors:

    http://www.airsoftretreat.com/forums/index.php?topic=89862.0

Just to remind people that we prefer it if you actually POST reviews here rather than simply linking to reviews posted elsewhere.

We try to be as lenient as possible but, let's face it, linking to a review on another airsoft forum is taking the mickey a bit.

Obviously, reviews posted on Youtube are slightly different since Arnies has no video hosting facilities although it wouldn't kill you to embed the video rather than just post a link to it. ;)

Also, there's an "E" on the end of the word "Torque". It's right there on the side of the motor.

It doesn't say much for the review when the reviewer can't even copy the word off the item being reviewed. <_<

  18. I vaguely recall mentioning this before...

If Arnie gets the urge, it'd probably be best if the website page is changed so it simply redirects people to the forum FAQs about IRC rather than having the info shown on the actual website.

  19. Well as an asian guy, I can add to the whole submissive thing. I have found that it is usually the older generation as well as the "mainlanders" i.e not born abroad girls who exhibit this "submissiveness". However this can usally be contributed to confucian ideals.

I gotta say, I hate dragging this off topic so much. :(

I don't want to make it sound like I think a lot of asians are either simpering women or chauvanistic men.

I know there's a lot of younger asian families who're buying into the whole "western" thing purely in order to avoid having daughters who're raised in a subservient way.

Bear in mind that this all stems from millenia of tradition that assumes women are "less useful" than men.

If a couple had a female daughter they knew that someday the daughter would be married and eventually clear off to live with her husband and then daughters parents would have nobody to look after then when they got older.

Point being that after 4000 years of tradition, you're not gonna get people to change their minds in five minutes.

I've spoken to several asian guys now living in Europe who admit that the main reason they moved their families over here was because they figure it's the best way to ensure their kids don't get exposed to what they see as "Japanese tradition" BS.

  20. Please yourself.

You should probably look into asian traditions a little more though.

Asian women are pretty-much trained from birth to be submissive/subservient to men.

It's just the way their societies are.

Now, fair play to any asian lass who does have the "balls" to stand on her own two feet but I'm sure that most would tell you that the vast majority of japanese/chinese/thai/malaysian/vietnamese girls expect to be submissive to a husband and they expect to be looked after.

    *EDIT*

    Also, I gotta ask...

i'm sorry stealth but i can't see your opinion as anything other than a stereotype based on a small minority.

I've told you what my opinion is based on.

    What's YOUR opinion based on?

How much experience do you have of asian girls?

How many people do you know who're married to asian girls?

How long have you spent living in asia?

Do you have any factual basis, however limited, for your own POV?
