  1. Greetings, I was wondering if it was possible for us to request a username/display name change here on the forums. When I had originally signed up, I was maintaining an "alias", along with an associated website. This is no longer the case, and I've switched to using my real name. I wasn't sure where to ask this, as there really isn't a technical support board here anymore. I appreciate any suggestions you may have. Thanks!
  2. Dude, I just posted this particular item RIGHT HERE. Have a look. It's on page 8 of this thread, just so you know.
  3. Thanks everyone. You're correct on both counts actually. The battery IS in the handguard, and it IS a lipo! Unfortunately, she's on her way to her new owner. A friend just HAD to have it, and was willing to finish off a big trade we had in process for it. I'll either build another, or eventually buy it back! LOL We do a LOT of swapping back and forth.
  4. moar photos. less jibber jabber.
  5. Matt, There was a fair bit of trimming work required on the front mount to actually get it to fit properly and look right. I only removed and reshaped as much as I had to to get it to work, so that it could still be used on a different gun later. The whole point of this build was to have a SHORT grenadier rig. I'm not sure I'm 100% happy with the 'shorty' stock, but when you're wearing a PC, or other vest, it actually fits quite comfortably. I'm going to be doing some custom-fitting work to put a li-po battery inside a reguar stock tube, and if I'm successful, a magpul CTR will be going o
  6. I had that exact slide fitted onto my 4.3 before I sold it. All that was required was trimming the blowback unit where specified, and then I simply continuously cycled the slide on the frame by hand until it loosened up. Didn't take very long. I then cleaned and lubed it up really well, and from that point on, it worked perfectly. It's really not that hard...and the slide quality was excellent. I had the guarder stainless steel outer barrel on mine, and while it added a TON of weight to the gun, it was pretty loose-fitting. I ended up using some o-rings to keep it snug with the inner barr
  7. Thanks for the info FarEast, I hadn't considered the HFC134a into the equation on your end.
  8. FarEast, is there a reason you opted to go with the PGC metal slide and barrel, rather than the new Avalon steel kits that have come out? I'm curious. Was there any other influence involved here other than just the price difference?
  9. When you're buying just a body kit, they don't need to cover up the trademarks. It's only when it's a complete gun that they have to do that. Order with confidence! Oh, hey, if you end up selling your old body, drop me a line! LOL
  10. I recognize that material myself, from a G&P lower receiver I got. It's NOT 'grip tape'. It's actually just a piece of plastic, that they've epoxied onto the body. If you pull it off, it's going to take the finish with it. I used a heat gun on mine to remove it, but the finish till came off. The best thing would be to try and find a solvent to dissolve the epoxy/glue, but that would probably damage the finish as well. The good news, is that because it's the got the Colt trades, which are molded into the body casting, instead of being just laser-etched into the finish, you *could* just
  11. I've got one sitting in my parts bin. I bought it a long time ago, with the idea that I could somehow build a custom battery pack into it, which I was successful in doing, but it didn't end up looking quite right. I've since switched to lipo batteries, so it's a whole new ballgame. I prefer the G&P stubby stocks myself, but have a mix of full stocks, stubby stocks, LE stocks, and a magpul CTR. That stock is a little cheap on the finish side, in that it looks more plasticky than other brands, but honestly, for the price? If you REALLY want one, I could probably sell you the
  12. Thanks for the compliment, Render. I'll add some photos of the other 5 AR's in my collection when I can get some serious time for another shoot.
  13. It's not a Chris Reeve. Although I do own a couple. The knife is from a good friend who is a custom knifemaker. Feel free to visit his site if you like: http://www.burchtreeblades.com
  14. One of my earlier AR projects, soon to be on it's way to the new owner, our own dr. glocktavius... Larger version here.
