  1. My MUR arrived today so here's my last Armalite: Some trademark goodness:
  2. It's started out as a G&P Mk 14 MOD 0 EBR (Long) and I purchased the outer barrel conversion kit. Cheers, Vic.
  3. Mk 14 MOD 0 USN + M14 SOCOM 16 w/ Full Length Flash-hider. The colors seem less harsh in the late afternoon light.
  4. My CYMA M14 SOCOM w/ King Arms Aimpoint Clone. It's my back up / loner gun and I thought I would spice it up a little. The paint used is khaki and brown from Krylon's Camouflage line. I sprayed the khaki down first, waited an hour and sprayed a second coat before letting it sit over night. I then masked the areas that would be brown with blue painter's masking tape and then sprayed that. I think it turned out pretty well, but I think it needs a brown that is between the two used to help blend the lines a bit better. Cheers, Vic.
  5. Another image for the KAC crowd: The upper receiver from the G&P CQB/R that I am working on. It came from its previous owner with an orange plastic flashhider that was spray-painted black, and a cracked gearbox full of Guarder parts and black grease(Automotive?). Lower receiver had two front pins holding it together, the one in the rear thankfully having a screw on the other side keeping it together. But that's what makes this hobby fun, working with your hands. Cheers, Vic. BTW: Nice SR25, Victory. How's the balance with the can attached?

    Armalites

A collection of pictures of the Armalites I've worked on.
  7. Very nice, I like the ambidextrous mag catch feature especially. Looks a lot better than the G&P adaptor. Cheers, Vic.
  8. Thanks for the tip on the PEQ, I'll see if I can examine the one that came with a friend's HK416. I use the magwell extenders because it's where I normally hold my Armalite as it tightens up my arms and I'm less likely to chicken-wing. Plus it gives me another thing to paint, which drives my housemates nuts. "WTF are you doing out in the sunroom in the middle of the night? with a spray can and respirator?" Cheers, Vic
  9. Where do you keep the battery for that M4? If you're using a PEQ, which one are you using because I have a rather beat up ICS PEQ I am looking to replace. Definitely one of the better CASV's I've seen, good job. Cheers, Vic.
  10. Spartan II, with IBA/OTV soft armor inserts. They really help fill it out and give it a nice weight. It's made by G&P and is is about $10 plus S&H on EHA G&P M4 Mag Well In regards to the optics, those Larue types looks rather good, but an EOTECH is my final optics goal. Vic.
  11. Oddly enough, I was wondering something similar, but with two other gearboxes as my guarder shell cracked where almost all version 2 gearboxes crack. Mind you it was at 400 fps, so if you're not going that high, you'll probably be fine. I've ordered a Systema 7mm and a King Arms 7mm version 2 and as soon as they come in, I'll compare them with my broken Guarder in terms of weight and part thicknesses. Also, for those who own a DYTAC VLTOR MUR, which charging handle did you use? I have a G&P Navy receiver kit as my donor and planned on using King Arm's metal parts kit. -Vic *
  12. The current incarnation of my Diemaco C8 Project: In the background is my TAG Spartan II, with IBA panels. I appologise for the poor image quality, my normal camera is out of batteries, so I had to resort to my cell phone's. Cheers, Vic.
  13. FarEast- I checked out the Magpul website and couldn't find their airsoft buffer tube. They do have a buffer tube in the CTR Accessories portion of their website, but it looks like the real steel one to me. Any pointers? Cheers, Batou.
  14. I just got my Tanaka M29 4.6" Magnum today and all I can say is wow. Mind you, coming from WGCshop, there's nearly no trades, but that's ok. I managed to source a set of Excaliber wooden grips for it and as soon as I get them on there, I'll post an edit. All of the SAAs I see here is making me think of "For A Few Dollars More." P.S. Is that a Hogue grip on you classic, The Boy Swift?
  15. FarEast- Very well-written review. I think Modify did their research when they releases these parts as they addressed a couple of the big time consumers when it comes to gearbox construction: shimming and anti-reverse latch spring retention. One thing that interests me was the fact that the gearset is labeled with the ratio. I hopped over to their website (http://www.modify.com.tw) and after searching through their products listing, found the following information: GB-09-11??Modular Gear Set for Marui Ver.2/3 (Torque 21.6:1) GB-09-12??Modular Gear Set for 6mm gearbox Ver.2/Ver.3
  16. Great review. I've been hearing a lot about Echo1 here in the states and I'm glad to see that somebody put together an in-depth and thoughtful review. The one thing that really caught my eye was the photograph of the gearbox internals. That C.A marking is identical to that which was on the corresponding gear inside my CA SLR105. I hope that helps for anybody wondering about the gear quality. Additionally the sector gear looks to be made in the same process as the Classic Army sector gear. Cheers, Batou.
