  1. Personally, I wouldn't consider an avatar proof of anything, and I strongly recommend that you don't either. Picture yourself in court shouting "But he'd got a UKARA avatar on Arnies, your honour!" as they take you down. Sorry to widdle on the idea. Besides, membership of the UKARA scheme isn't required by law (and the scheme isn't designed for second hand sales anyway). So long as you are happy that they are a member of a site with public liability insurance and is over 18, and you retain evidence that you performed adequate checks to ensure that this was the case (just in case the
  2. Kitchen table works for me (I put a beach towel down first to keep the wife happy) I've got what I think I need to sort my issues out (thanks to Phil at 6mil for donating a couple of bits, very kind indeed) so I'll try and have a crack at her in the next couple of days.
  3. If you fit the CA motor, it still turns without unscrewing those bolts. It doesn't sit well with the stock bevel gear though, and screeches like a banshee. Fit a CA bevel gear, and all is quiet(er). I'll let you know what I had to do to fix my issues when I've done so. Another guy on Sunday was running his as modded by Phil at 6mil with a CA motor and all was well apart from feeding issues. I know he left the original shims in and didn't do something else that I have done, hence his fps being sensible and the battery not getting all hot and bothered
  4. Oh, and when I open the box sometime this week to sort my fps out I'll measure that switch like I promised to do on Saturday. Sorry about that, forgot all about it in my eagerness to test her out. I'll also try loosening the bolts around the motor, as this slight size discrepancy that FarEast pointed out would explain why I couldn't get her to sound right with the stock bevel gear (no matter how I shimmed it) and also the resistance that lead to my battery cooking. Of course, the cause of my fps issue that I keep skirting around probably ain't helping
  5. Your catch isn't catching. Try cutting away a section of the flange on the magwell adaptor (shown earlier in this thread). It'll solve the issue for you.
  6. There's a bulk sales section in the UK one too, you could use that for clearouts (that's what it's for).
  7. If your bearings are okay already, don't bother replacing them yet. Greasing the gears is definitely a must. The rest SHOULD be fine, and shouldn't cause the problems I've caused mine. I should be able to sort it out though (with a bit of help from SB).
  8. Hey, I'm pretty new too (hence the mistakes!). I've found the M249 a damn site easier to play with than a V2 gearbox (though mainly 'cos it's easier to get the darned thing out). It's really not as scary as I thought it would be.
  9. It was flippin' hot! I'm gonna put the old wheezy o-ring in, see if that reduces the resistance (and maybe solve other issues).
  10. Whoops! Do NOT do everything I did, 'cos when I tested my gun today it hit 410fps - not good. I think I know what happened, but obviously I can't talk about it here! I also developed a short, so I'm gonna check out my wiring tonight. I also managed to cook my battery in 3 seconds (8.4V mini). Gawd knows how I managed all that, so any advice is welcome!
  11. pm me some details (team name, where you play etc) and I'll see what can be done. Only Arnie can do this at present, but I can give him a prod.
  12. Dunno, but yeah I'm planning to do the same. There's loads of room in the gun for a mosfet. Okay, what I've done so far: Lubricated the gearbox. Replaced the motor with a CA short type Super High Speed motor. Applied silicon sealant to the cylinder head to maintain the seal. Replaced the piston head o-ring (mine was too thin, other have had no issue with this). Replaced the bevel gear with a CA one (not strictly necessary perhaps). Re-shimmed the gears. Replaced the Anti-Reversal Latch (ARL) with a G&G one (again, not strictly necessary). Replaced the hop-up nub wit
  13. The wires feel a little warm after a long burst, too.
  14. I know that, but it says the file's too big. I'd better check those rules again Aha! Figured it out, my bad: Pablo__s_M249_ROF.wav
  15. Damnit, I can't seem to add the attachment. It's 344kb. I've never tried this feature before! Here's the graph from Audacity - I might be wrong but that looks like 24rps:
  16. I've never tried that, I'll see what I can do. EDIT: I'm developing a deep and passionate hatred for anti-reversal latches.
  17. Damn think stopped working when I put it all together, fuse looks intact so I strip her again. Thought the switch had died, as the motor wouldn't turn at all (I'd connected up the old motor to test in case it was the motor). Just on a whim, I changed the fuse. Holding the old motor in one hand, I hit the trigger switch. The motor spins, flying out of my hand. Boy that beastie has some torque! The stock fuse may die while still looking intact. Weird. I'll put her back together again and let you know what I've done. Can't find a ruler at the mo, but I'll mark up the measurements of the
  18. Hoooooooooooomommah! A&K M249 + CA short type super high speed motor + 9.6V = big smile on Pablo's face (once I'd sorted the shimming out again). I'm gonna have to check the fps with the new piston o-ring though, 'cos she was kicking like a mule on the bench.
  19. Thread tidied. This is a thread about implementing the same structured forum for US and Worldwide as is used by the UK forum. This is not the place to ask "Why can't I see the sales section?" when there are already several threads about this slready. Read them if you have that question. Back on topic - I believe Arnie is planning to do this but has been a little busy lately. Sit tight, it will be done I'm sure.
  20. Note to self: do not leave the M249 foregrip unattended at MA3. Once I get this motor fitted properly, the ROF promises to be nice and healthy (for me anyway). The piston o-ring was indeed shocking bad on mine btw, the new one + silicon sealant around the cylender head gives me fantastic compression. I recommend full face when using one of these, as a stray BB could ruin the grin on your face.
  21. I think that's 'em all gone, 'cos I've had a set too.
  22. I'm experimenting with mine at the mo, yes I'll check it tomorrow (I'm mucking about with my new motor, needs some adjustment), as I'm off out tonight for a change. EDIT: If you do change the motor for a CA high speed, you might find it's a bit screechy. I didn't have time to faff with the shims, so I've put mine aside, but it seems to be the bevel gear that's at fault. I've also got a spare to test it with so we'll see.
  23. An imaginary +25 for you! Good find.
  24. So by encouraging people to contribute to the forum, we're making it less friendly? I still don't get that myself. I know I'm finding it less friendly today (especially last night) as we got criticised by a bunch of people we'd never heard of before, many of whom it turns out have been here for some time but seldom contributed to the community here by actually posting. Sure, a lot of people use this place for information but without those people who take the time to actually post that information then this would be impossible. I'm not saying that the number of posts = helpfulness to the commun
